Wow – very sad. Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, who was only 25, murdered his girlfriend Kassandra Perkins at her home early this morning and then went to the team’s practice center and committed suicide in front of his Head Coach, Romeo Crennel, and the team’s General Manager, Scott Pioli. Apparantly Jovan Belcher thanked Crennel and Pioli “for all they had done for him” and then shot himself in the head. Jovan Belcher and Kassandra Perkins had a child together in September.
Was this domestic violence or something else? It’s too early to tell. All we know is that it’s horrible.
And as of now, it still looks like there will be a football game Sunday between the Chiefs and the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are expected to arrive in Kansas City Saturday. The KC Chiefs have released this most recent statement and Buzzfeed Sports is updating this story as the news changes.
