Did you know that Vice President Pence hosted Fred Warmbier as his personal guest at the Winter Olympics in South Korea? He was there to remind people of the horrible death of his son Otto.

Fred who? And Otto who?

Now, I’m sure that news savvy people — like our readers, of course — will recognize the Warmbier name. They will recall Otto Warmbier as the American college kid who went to North Korea, became a prisoner there, and died as a result of the regime’s brutality.

Yet there’s the Millennial-oriented website Elite Daily which actually asked, “Who Is Otto Warmbier?” in the title of a recent article. Then again, this is a website that runs stories about the pregnant Kylie Jenner’s fingernails, so while the ignorance is disturbing, it’s not shocking.

But most of the mainstream media would prefer to forget that Fred Warmbier was at the Olympics. After all, it doesn’t play well with the kumbaya image they’ve crafted of the two Koreas. The Washington Post even insinuated that Mr. Warmbier was just a ‘prop’ for . . . wait for it. . . President Trump.

It’s always blame Trump with these people, isn’t it?

Furthermore, it jars with their slobberfest over Kim Yo-Jong, the sister of the monster who presided over Otto’s death. First of all, they adore her because she dissed Mike Pence with her Evil Eye. And then both CNN and the feminist site Jezebel called her North Korea’s ‘Ivanka Trump.’

Bitch, please!

However, one network didn’t forget the story of Otto. NBC News held an interview with Fred Warmbier on the sidelines at the Olympics. Warmbier told NBC’s Lester Holt that he hoped his presence would remind people of the brutality of the North Korean regime:

“I’m telling the truth about the regime’s treatment of my son. But guess what, they do this to countless other people. This isn’t defiance. This is telling the truth. This is standing up and being the voice of Otto.”

He’s absolutely correct. The North Koreans aren’t really participating in the full spirit of the games. Their presence is merely a dog-and-pony show, intended to shove a wedge between the U.S. and South Korea.

However, Vice President Pence, on his return to the U.S. on Saturday, said there is ‘no daylight’ between the U.S., Japan, and South Korea. “I leave here very confident that we are going to continue to do the things we’ve known have to be done to continue to pressure North Korea to abandon their nuclear ambitions,” he said in an interview held on Air Force Two.

The sad thing is that the media and progressives — but I repeat myself — would love to see that alliance break down. They hate this administration more than they fear Kim Jong-un or his unsettling little sister. After all, as our Darleen wrote, the media have gone ‘full Duranty.’ Meanwhile, Fred Warmbier is persona non grata — an impediment to their fantasy world of peace and love between the two Koreas.

However, TV ratings are reflecting the disgust U.S. viewers have with the presence of North Korea at the Olympics. Ratings show that the viewership for the opening ceremony for the South Korean Olympic Games was down a full 9% from 2014, when the Olympics opened in Russia. As one media guru put it, that’s “nowhere near even a bronze medal.” I guess the average American viewer doesn’t have much love for Kim Jong-Un’s minions, or his sister, the ‘Ivanka of North Korea.’
