Zohran Mamdani really does believe that New York City is his own personal kingdom, and he gets to use it as his laboratory for socialism.
Budget? What budget? Mamdani is spending more money and is expecting the money to come from the state and from other places, and then claiming a victory for socialism.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani is bragging that the budget he just pushed through proves socialists understand the economy as well as capitalists, and that, indeed, they’re cleaning up the capitalists’ mess.
What utter bull. He’s proved nothing about socialism as an economic boon, and his spending plan actually makes the city’s fiscal mess worse.
No matter: The mayor pretends he’s an ultra-competent manager, a wizard of municipal finance and a dedicated socialist who’ll make New York affordable and “equitable.”
“If these past months have shown us anything,” he burbled, “it is that socialists not only understand economics just as well as the capitalists who came before, but that we can solve their years of mismanagement through an embrace of our principles.”
Yet Mamdani’s budget makes matters worse: His budget takes Adams’ last plan and adds another $10 billion in new spending, while, as city Comptroller Mark Levine (a fellow Democrat) notes, relying on “$6.1 billion in short-term and one-time measures.”
And he’s depending on Wall Street to fork over a disproportionate amount of the city’s income, including nearly a quarter of personal income-tax revenue, to pay for it.
Meanwhile, Hizzoner hasn’t done a lick to boost local economic growth, attract business or create new jobs (except for those on his propaganda staff).
Just the opposite: He’s gotten firms — like Ken Griffin’s Citadel — to look to do business elsewhere.
The mayor really believes that he will never run out of other people’s money. And while he is touting the wonders of socialism, he’s also telling New Yorkers to keep their thermostats UP, lest the power grid go poof.
New York: it's hot out there, and the power grid is working overtime to keep us cool.
Set your AC to 78 degrees, turn off lights/electronics you're not using, and unplug what you can.

The full post reads:
New York: it’s hot out there, and the power grid is working overtime to keep us cool.
Set your AC to 78 degrees, turn off lights/electronics you’re not using, and unplug what you can.
Our City is doing its part too: maintaining the 78 degrees rule in our buildings, dimming/turning off our lights during peak electricity demand, asking private partners to do the same, and powering down non-essential equipment.
A stable grid means the AC stays on, and lives are saved. Let’s ease demand — and get through the heat — together.
Setting aside that New York has deliberately shorted itself of power by closing down the Indian Point nuclear power plant, you have to love the collectivist appeal to equal suffering by Mayor Mamdani.
Is this what was meant by the warmth of collectivism? https://t.co/6GELJm9VmK

I believe that qualifies as a mic drop by the Governor of Florida. But never fear, Mamdani is going to try for his own mic drop by lecturing New York City – and anyone who will listen – on Independence Day.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will give a major speech in front of the George Washington desk at City Hall on Friday morning to mark America’s 250th birthday, sources tell CBS News New York’s Marcia Kramer.
He’ll be surrounded by recently naturalized citizens.
Mamdani himself is also a naturalized citizen, and the topic is important to him personally.
The speech will be given hours before President Trump is expected to give his America 250 address in South Dakota.
Is everyone excited? Mamdani has been an American citizen for less than ten years, and now he is going to give a speech to his subjects proletariats fellow citizens on the Fourth of July. Because, in his eyes, he is very, very important.

And in the eyes of Democrats, he is very, very important. He has become a kingmaker, and even though he will never qualify to run for president, his successes in picking the most radical socialists to run under the Democrat banner is resulting in electoral upsets – and potential contenders to suck up and kiss his ring.
Kamala Harris is quietly strengthening ties with one of the Democratic Party’s fastest-rising progressive stars, holding an extended private phone call with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
The conversation, which took place last week, focused on the future of the party and served as the beginning of what is expected to be a longer series of discussions between the two, Axios reports.
“This is about positioning for the 2028 primary where no candidate knows where the lane for support for Palestinian rights is going to be but they know there’s going to be one,” Republican consultant Mike Madrid told The California Post.
“No question this is a risky move but it’s one transforming both parties and the calculus at the moment has become it’s better to do something than nothing,” he added.
Harris’ outreach came just days after Democratic socialist candidates backed by Mamdani scored victories in three New York congressional primaries, defeating two incumbent lawmakers and further cementing the mayor’s growing influence within the party.
A source familiar with the mayoral conversation told The Post Harris reached out to Mamdani as she tries to rebrand herself to be more appealing to young Democrats following her 2024 defeat — and congratulated the socialist mayor for his winning endorsement slate in New York City.
“The vice president reached out to have a conversation, and we’ve had a brief conversation,” Mamdani told SiriusXM’s “The Clay Cane Show” Wednesday. “We’ve been in touch over the last few months, and I really do appreciate her outreach.”
Mamdani confirming that Kamala Harris is bending the knee to him is a confirmation of something else altogether. The Democrat party is no longer run by the Clinton dynasty or the charisma of Barack Obama. It’s being run by Zohran Mamdani and his Democratic Socialists. Or, more accurately, the party is being gutted so that the Democratic Socalists can wear it like a skin suit. The “big tent” that Democrats have insisted upon has now come back to bite them, and they will not realize it until it is too late. It’s probably too late already. No wonder Mamdani has the balls to give a speech on America’s 250th birthday. He’s already been given control of a political party. He wants control of the thermostats in New York City and beyond. And if normies don’t start paying attention, his party will have control of the White House in 2028.

If the NY Democratic Party which runs the State & NYC hadn’t made it a crusade to close early the Indian Point Nuclear Plant so it closed in 2020, there would be plenty of clean, affordable electric power to run the ACs. Actually, the total amount of electric power is about the same as in 2020, but now about 75% is generated by fossil fuels whereas before it was about 55%. Just another example of how Progressive policies cause worse outcomes.
They are consistent… they never let facts get in the way of their agenda.
