Evidently issuing subpoenas for Jim Jordan’s cell records has Operation Arctic Frost starting earlier than we previously thought.
The Department of Justice subpoenaed the personal phone records of House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan in 2022, seeking the Ohio Republican’s phone data covering a more than two-year period.
The subpoena, obtained by Fox News Digital, shows a federal prosecutor who later worked on special counsel Jack Smith’s Jan. 6 investigation ordered Verizon to hand over the phone data, also known as toll records, reaching back to Jan. 1, 2020.
The request appears to be the most expansive yet of the publicly known subpoenas targeting senators and current and former House members during Arctic Frost, the investigation that led to Smith bringing election-related charges against President Donald Trump.
Smith did not begin working as special counsel until seven months after the subpoena was issued, meaning the request pre-dated his time at the DOJ.
The subpoena for Jordan’s records appears to be one of the first known ones in the Arctic Frost probe and was issued during a time when Jordan was serving as the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee, which conducts oversight of the DOJ.
So, let’s unpack this shall we? We already know that multiple Republicans were targeted by Biden’s DOJ after Jack Smith took charge of the J6 investigation. Rightfully so, they are all pissed that they were targeted and that most of the cell phone companies caved instead of holding firm. Many if not all wanted the companies in addition to those who weaponized the DOJ held accountable.
But putting a provision to sue in a piece of legislation is not the way.
There was a strong appetite among Senate Republicans to respond to the Arctic Frost investigation and the Biden DOJ’s lawfare when Jack Smith’s team targeted Republican senators without notification in violation of existing law.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune included this provision in the leg approps bill at the request of members of his conference.
It only applies to senators because it is amending existing statute (2 U.S.C. 6628) which only applies to senators.
Under this provision, senators would have to be notified when their data is requested by the Department of Justice.
As we’ve seen, the media has been working overtime to ignore the Arctic Frost story unless it suits them. It’s totally fine with them and the Democrats that well over 400 Republicans and conservative organizations were targeted by Joe Biden’s DOJ. And, as we all know, Attorney General Merrick Garland knew EXACTLY what was going on.
They spied on President Trump.

They spied on Senators.
Now, we just learned, they spied on me.
If they can do it to us, they can do it to you. https://t.co/e0z5zJO9G3 pic.twitter.com/jGb2VKIIPN
Here’s the deal. One of the judges involved is someone we’ve discussed multiple times. Judge James Boasberg. He issued subpoenas and gag orders for the investigation ensuring that the DOJ could keep weaponizing and subverting the law against Trump and anyone associated, however remotely, with him.
Those involved Arctic Frost SHOULD be fired.
Meanwhile, Verizon is in full CYA mode. You can darned well bet that company is hoping they won’t get sued into oblivion.
Verizon said in a statement it has been coordinating with the House and Senate Judiciary committees and “working tirelessly” to gather information on the subpoenas related to lawmakers.
“As part of our investigation, we uncovered new information regarding Chairman Jordan and shared it with him as soon as possible,” Verizon spokesman Rich Young said. “We are committed to restoring trust through transparency and will continue to work with Congress and the administration as they examine these issues and consider reforms to expand notification protections.”
Nice try Verizon. Keep paddling and you just might make it. Meanwhile, as more is uncovered regarding the Arctic Frost investigation, those involved really do need to be held accountable. Jack Smith and Merrick Garland among them.
The Republicans in office need to remember something. One: Biden weaponizing the law against them MUST have consequences. Two: Americans elected President Trump in part to hold those who weaponized the law against them accountable.

And if Trump’s DOJ had been doing this to Democrats, we know it would be running 24/7 and Maxine Waters would be heard screaming “I’m o-IMPEACH foty-seven!”
