This is NOT what I was going to write about. I wanted to write about Pam Bondi being confirmed as Attorney General of the United States. Turns out that won’t happen until Wednesday morning. No, that’s not a mistake. I checked Wednesday morning. I would have said “WTF”, but I got distracted listening to a hysterical tantrum. I was watching the live feed of the Senate Floor and Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz was ranting and railing about USAID, Project 25, Russ Vought, Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

Senator Schatz talked forever, or at least it seemed that way. He finally shut up at 8:47 EST after Senator Schumer came out to assist him in making a few points. The Senate was adjourned until 11 a.m. today.

Monday night, Russ Vought was confirmed as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Yay! Uh-oh, the Democrats want to strike fear into your hearts.

I don’t normally pay attention to the Office of Management and Budget. Sorry. So, I was ever so grateful to Congressman Brendan Boyle for giving me a hint why Brian Schatz was so exorcised about the Heritage Foundation, Russel Vought and Project 2025. Dun, dun, dunnnnn. Schatz isn’t stupid like the other Hawaii Senator Mazie Hirono. What the heck, Hawaii? He IS a partisan hack of the first order. Looking into what is going on at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) really hacked Schatz off.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Schatz is going to hold Trump’s nominees until USAID is back online and working:

Sen. Brian Schatz (D., Hawaii) said he would place a “blanket hold” on all of President Trump’s State Department nominees until the administration’s attack on the leading U.S. foreign-assistance agency ends, a move that threatens to stall Trump’s ability to get his foreign-policy team in place.

Schatz’s threat came as Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency aims to close the U.S. Agency for International Development; the agency’s existence as an independent government organization is codified in federal law. Over the weekend, DOGE staffers forced their way into USAID’s headquarters in Washington, gaining access to classified information and closing the building to employees on Monday.

During Schatz’s Senate Floor tantrum, he kept saying who is Elon Musk to do this?, this is Unconstitutional, and no one voted for this. Wrong-o. Trump was quite clear with his DOGE intentions, and this is exactly what we voted for. More from the Journal:

Schatz’s move shows that Democrats are stepping up their efforts to block DOGE’s attempts to dissolve USAID—and it a signals a greater willingness to push back on the new president.

Democratic lawmakers Monday gathered at the agency’s Washington headquarters to protest the Trump administration’s proposed closure of USAID.

Democratic senators said they have spoken with Republicans in recent days over what actions, if any, they might take to reverse the administration’s actions against USAID. For now, they say there is little they can do legislatively, especially because the organization’s existence already is delineated in federal statute.

Schatz said he expects the judicial system may at least temporarily stop DOGE’s attempts to close USAID. “You cannot wave a wand and eliminate a department established by federal law, so it will be reversed by a court,” Schatz said.

Except USAID wasn’t established by law. It was established by an Executive Order:

They cut to Secretary Marco Rubio winning in Panama and Rubio says he is head of USAID now because we fund USAID but you go into countries and find that that organization is working at cross purposes to United States values.

What would those values be, you ask?

You know who was head of USAID? Samantha Power, Obama’s U.N. Ambassador and wife of Cass Sunstein became Biden’s head of USAID. And a hotbed of corruption according to Fox Digital:

Fox News Digital looked back at the controversies USAID has faced in recent years, finding a bevy of allegations, including that the agency reportedly helped fund terrorist organizations and Chinese groups, and that its watchdog allegedly omitted negative findings from publicly published reports.

“As I predicted would happen from the outset, credible reporting indicates that Hamas terrorists have diverted this aid; indisputable evidence demonstrates that the aid was always at high risk of diversion,” he continued, pointing to U.S. aid that was delivered to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which he said has apparent ties to Hamas.
