The CDC told Gretchen Whitmer no when she requested a vaccine surge. Instead, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky says the state needs to go into another lockdown.
Yes, you read the above correctly.
“The head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contradicted the Whitmer administration Monday, saying the answer to Michigan’s “acute situation” with COVID-19 is not to surge vaccines but to shut down the state and “flatten the curve.”
“Really what we need to do in those situations is shut things down,” CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said during a Monday briefing.
“I think if we tried to vaccinate our way out of what is happening in Michigan, we will be disappointed that it took so long for the vaccine to work — to actually have the impact.”
You know, this irritates me to no end. The CDC is pushing for vaccines, yet they’ve also rolled out very passive aggressive ads on TV, radio and elsewhere. Those ads are irritating and condescending. One such ad that was inflicted on me multiple times today was this fatherly voice talking to his young son about how, even with the vaccine, one must continue to live in fear, never leave home, not attend school, wear masks, and social distance. The ad doesn’t say that outright, but that is the overarching implication.
Then you have Fauci peddling this load of crap.
“Asked if eating and drinking inside restaurants and bars is “okay now,” Fauci replied in the negative.
“For the simple reason that the level of infection, the dynamic of infection in the community are still really disturbingly high,” he said. “Like just yesterday there were close to 80,000 new infections and we’ve been hanging around 60, 75,000.”
Even if vaccinated, individuals need to “remember that you still have to be careful and not get involved in crowded situations, particularly indoors where people are not wearing masks,” according to Fauci.
There you go. According to noted expert Fauci, who has gotten EVERYTHING wrong about this damned virus, we need to continue to live in fear. Fauci is 80. He’s at high risk. Those of us without underlying health issues, or are kids/young adults are in the much MUCH lower risk category. If Fauci wants to hide in his house like the coward he is, fine. The rest of us need to live our lives.

His only real theme is “do what I say” even when it makes no sense.

The CDC would rather NOT send more vaccines to Michigan. Instead, Rochelle’s idea of a solution is to push for more lockdowns while implying that the vaccines won’t stop anything. Keep in mind, the request for more vaccines for Michigan has been in the pipeline for weeks now.
Which begs the question. What or who is the hold up? Why is the CDC and/or the Biden Administration refusing Gretchen Whitmer’s request? Remember, just a few weeks ago Rochelle was singing a different tune regarding vaccinations.
Furthermore, Fauci’s messaging along with the CDC’s is problematic for another reason.

Yes indeed, the message that the CDC and Fauci have sent out today is a DIRECT contributor to people’s hesitancy in getting vaccinated.
It also doesn’t help that the CDC decided to grace us last week with the news that Covid doesn’t live on surfaces. Instead it’s a 1 in 10,000 chance someone would get the virus from opening a door, sitting at a restaurant table, going into a store, or going to school. So much for that hand sanitizer run.
The CDC and Fauci, along with far too many idiot media are wanting to keep this country locked down. It’s power, not science, that is definitely at play here.
Should Gretchen Whitmer be doing more to get the vaccines she already has rolled out to the Michigan public? Absolutely. But for the CDC to refuse vaccines and instead instruct Whitmer to lock down the entire state for an indefinite period of time…that isn’t science. That’s politics and power grabs.
Gretchen Whitmer has only suggested or recommended that businesses, sports, and schools take a pause for the next two weeks. The schools said NOPE. Restaurants were completely relieved that a new mandate was nowhere to be found.
We are well on our way to herd immunity due to how many in the US have had Covid and/or are getting vaccinated. Yet CDC’s Rochelle Walensky and Fauci would rather we hide in our basements until THEY decide it’s safe to come out.
That’s not how viruses work. Viruses mutate, and this one is mutating, just as the flu has done for decades.
More to the point, it’s time they quit the lectures and let Americans use their own best judgement. Having just been in Texas, it was a treat to see Americans making their OWN choices as to whether to stay home, go out to eat, shop, and travel. Furthermore, it was left up to their choice whether they wanted to wear a mask or not. Texans have conducted their own risk assessments and are choosing accordingly.
The CDC and Fauci hate that. Which is why Walensky told Gretchen Whitmer no on the vaccines and is pushing for another lockdown. With the end result of contributing to MORE distrust of the vaccines, not less. Heckuva job guys, heckuva job.

Johnny Lumber says: Big increase in Michigan cases in the last month and a very small increase in deaths. Hmmmm. Just what I would expect when most of the vulnerable over 65 group has been vaccinated. If they would release the demographic data I would bet that those cases are almost all in the 20 to 55 age group. No worries there unless you have a combo of the usual co-morbidities.

Cy Jung says: Gretchen Whitmer is no hero in this situation. Severe, restrictive lockdowns have pushed state residents to the limit and stunted herd immunity. Whitmer sees herself as the champion of the minority population. Yet the city of Detroit is 14% vaccinated while the remainder of the state is 27% vaccinated. Nobody is listening to her huranging any longer. Everyone knows her “science”and “data” are non existent and run out to stop questions. The Biden campaign used her to win the vote and is now over her. She just doesn’t realize it yet.

RANDY MARTIN POCHEL says: Hate to break the news to you but weve been had! Covid has a real morbidity rate of 0.58 % and has been around for years. Most of what they have been reporting is from pre-existing deaths and noticed no one had the flu this year? It was all called COVID.
You can all call me names but if you look at the facts and data, they always report HOW MANY CASES. But of those how many died? and from what ? very, very, very few from covid if at all. This has done more harm to our country and a former free people than any thing else that has happened. Imagine locking down well people and destroying the economy for a minor ( yes minor) illness. Ampleforth says: The gubmint is slowly walking out a statement that the vaccines aren’t working as well as they hoped they would. Everybody will lineup to get a “booster.” Then, they’ll do it again…and again. Welcome to the grand human experiment.
The good thing is that fewer will die as a result of the vaccines. The bad thing is that Covid-19 will never be solved.
