When the “All the News, All the Time” channels and printed papers are not crying “Russia, Russia, Russia”, they are beating the Health Care horse to death. Today, The Daily Beast treats us to another “Trump is Stupid” post with “Does Trump Know the First Thing About Health Care? Aide: ‘He Understands Winning.’”. The writers of the article, Lachlan Markay and Asawin Suebsaeng, let the reader know right from jump that they don’t care much for President Donald Trump:

On Wednesday morning, the president woke up and then began angrily tweetstorming about his allegedly deep knowledge of the American health care system.
“Some of the Fake News Media likes to say that I am not totally engaged in health care,” Donald Trump tweeted from his personal @realDonaldTrump account. “Wrong, I know the subject well & want victory for U.S.”

and this:

Trump’s Wednesday hate-tweets came the morning after a story was published at The New York Times that stated that one Republican senator who supports the Senate’s Trumpcare legislation exited a Tuesday meeting with President Trump at the White House with the strong impression that “the president did not have a grasp of some basic elements of the Senate plan.”

First of all, “anger” and “hate-tweets”? President Trump didn’t call anyone names. President Trump didn’t use any naughty words. The “anger” and “hate-tweets” come out of the brains of the writers, Messrs. Markay and Suebsaeng. Tweets you disagree with, just as with speech, are not necessarily “hate-tweets”.

The problem, as I see it, is that NOT ONE of our elected leaders understands health care or health insurance. They are two different things. The words are different. The definitions are different:

Definition of health care
: efforts made to maintain or restore physical, mental, or emotional well-being especially by trained and licensed professionals —usually hyphenated when used attributively health-care providers

Definition of health insurance
: insurance against loss through illness of the insured; especially : insurance providing compensation for medical expenses

Health care has been around since Adam got a splinter from the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden. Health Insurance first known use was 1901. That is a little more recent.

Politicians have been trying to get involved in health care for decades. Not because they want to see us all healthy or that the indigent get proper care. Sometimes I think it’s all about the money. Other times, I think it is because they are elitists who think they know how us poor, unwashed and state educated “Miserables” should live. Who can ever forget MIT professor Jonathan Gruber who said what all politicians think of us.

Go ahead, make their day. Ask you local politician, “What is the difference between health insurance and health care?” They cannot explain it. They cannot fix it. They have created a mess with Obamacare that cannot be fixed. Republicans, Democrats and Donald Trump. The cannot fix what they do not understand.
