#GoldenGlobes: Seth Meyers’ Monologue Is Hot Mess Of Political Virtue Signaling [VIDEO]

The Golden Globe Awards show is 75 years old, and the theme is Virtue Signaling. This year the Red Carpet was mind-numbingly monochromatic and Seth Myers lasted .0000009 seconds before getting political and stupid.

Seth Meyers took the stage at the 75th annual Golden Globes on Sunday night with the most delicate of high-wire tasks: Deliver humorous and entertaining awards show monologue amid the controversy engulfing Hollywood over sexual harassment and sexual misconduct.

And well…it was a train wreck. Check it out.

Seriously, folks. This is what passes for humorous and entertaining?

— “It’s 2018. Marijuana is finally allowed and sexual harassment finally isn’t, it’s gonna be a good year!”

Oh, ok. So drugs good and sexual harassment bad? Do I have that right? Yet how many of the stories involving good ole Harvey, Kevin Spacey, and far too many others involved a combination of both? They don’t call it ‘Sex, Drugs, and Rock-n-Roll’ for no reason. Then there’s this tone deaf line.

— “This was the year of big little lies and get out — and also television series Big Little Lies and the movie Get Out.”

Hollywood, as has been made public this year is chock full of big little lies, with several, including Meryl Streep, leading the charge into the gutter. We’ve pointed it out several times lately in regards to Harvey, Spacey, Salma Hayeck’s courage, and Annabella Sciorra’s perseverance. Yet, with Myers’ comment regarding “Get Out,” he essentially slams all the women who were doing their damnedest in REAL TIME to get out and away from Hollywood’s sexual predators. DUDE! You aren’t funny. Quit while you’re behind!

But he didn’t. He persisted.

Then he slammed Harvey. Sort of.

— “Well, I think it’s time to address the elephant not in the room. Harvey Weinstein isn’t here tonight because, well, I’ve heard he’s crazy and difficult to work with. But don’t worry, he’ll be back in 20 years when he’s the first person ever booed during the in memoriam.” [The audience groans]. “It’ll sound like that.”

Someone help me figure this out. Was that last quote supposed to be humorous? Or was it entertaining? I’m honestly not sure which category that completely tone deaf bit of dreck falls into.

In fact, I’d say Seth Myers’ entire monologue was painfully awkward. Furthermore, he went political as soon as he opened his mouth.

— “We’re here tonight courtesy of the Hollywood Foreign Press — a string of three words that could not be better designed to infuriate our president. Hollywood. Foreign. Press. The only name that could make his angrier is the Hillary Mexico Salad Association.”

The Golden Globes is an AWARD show. It’s a show that is supposed to showcase the best and most interesting shows and such from the previous year. It’s a show that is supposed to be fun, light-hearted, and celebratory. Yet this year, on its 75th anniversary, the Globes decided that political virtue-signaling was the theme of the night. Seth Meyers led the charge. Right into the ditch.

Golf Clap.

Not to mention that the Golden Globes, run by a small coterie of foreign “journalists” of mostly doubtful credentials, have a reputation for selling their awards to the highest bidder. The Los Angeles Times, years ago, did a series of articles about their scammy ways.

I liked them better when they were raping each other.

I have to admit that for the 71 year, I missed this and all other award shows. I would have missed the first 4, but I wasn’t born yet.
