Walz And Frey Whine About Criminal Investigation By The DOJ

Quick, someone get them legal counsel. Or a fainting couch. Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey are learning that maybe, as elected officials, they should not be interfering with federal law enforcement actions.

The Department of Justice confirmed on Friday that a criminal investigation was opened into the actions of both Walz and Frey, regarding their comments to the people of Minneapolis and Minnesota about ICE enforcement operations, and conspiring to impede federal authorities.

For those who have forgotten, Frey lost it after the death of Renee Good, telling ICE to “get the f**k” out of Minneapolis. His comments after the shooting of a Venezuelan illegal who attacked a federal law enforcement officer who was being gang beaten were slightly more restrained, but incredibly whiny. It’s clear that he really really REALLY wants to just let crime and fraud run rampant in Minneapolis, because having to clean it up is just too much work for him.

As for Walz, his comments on Wednesday evening were right on the edge of calling for secession from the United States, saying that ICE was “illegally occupying” Minnesota and that they “would be an island” unto themselves. Walz tried to tone down some of his rhetoric after the beating attack on the federal LEO, calling for calm and saying to President Trump “let’s turn the temperature down.” EXCUSE ME. This is like the arsonist saying to the firefighter, “let’s get some more water on this blaze,” after pouring gasoline on it first. If only the president didn’t feel the need to enforce federal immigration law, then none of this would be happening, am I right???

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche had some pretty pointed comments about this investigation when asked, even though it might not go very far.

Two sources familiar confirmed the probe, though no additional details about the investigation have been publicly released.

Sources said the investigation is in early stages, and it is unclear if it will result in any criminal charges.

U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche told Fox News the duo’s anti-ICE rhetoric was teetering on a federal crime.

“When the governor or the mayor threaten our officers, when the mayor suggests that he’s encouraging citizens to call 911 when they see ICE officers, that is very close to a federal crime,” Blanche said.

Both Democrat leaders have encouraged anti-immigration enforcement protests following the death of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, who was fatally shot Jan. 7 by a federal agent while allegedly blocking an ICE operation in Minneapolis.

White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told Fox News that Walz, Frey and other Democratic leaders have “done nothing but turn up the temperature, smear heroic ICE officers, and incite violence against them—all in defense of criminal illegal aliens.”

And how have Tim Walz and Jacob Frey responded? Why, they are MARTYRS. They are just the next targets for Donald Trump. Look at these brave resistance heroes!

Color me unimpressed with Frey’s “focus” on safety, especially considering he was complaining that the city doesn’t have enough police officers to meet the moment. Hmmmmm, can anyone think of a reason that Minneapolis might not have a robust police force? Perhaps something happened there over five years ago that hasn’t attracted or retained law enforcement professionals? It’s a mystery, Charlie Brown!

The Biden DOJ was unavailable for comment. Also, maybe Walz should check in with his attorney general, Keith Ellison, who is saying that hey, he could wait until at least 2029 to prosecute the ICE agent who shot Renee Good, because that’s not weaponizing the justice system at all.

Following the fatal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)-involved shooting of Renee Nicole Good last Wednesday in Minneapolis, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison emphasized that “there is no statute of limitations on murder,” suggesting the agent involved could face charges at a later date if political leadership changes.

During a Thursday appearance on “The Jim Acosta Show,” Ellison asserted that “there is no absolute immunity” for the agent who shot and killed Good, contradicting Vice President JD Vance’s claim following the shooting.

“For anyone watching your show, Jim, there is no absolute immunity. It’s untrue. And there is no statute of limitations on murder, by the way,” he told Acosta. “And that’s something that they should keep in mind because they’re not always going to be in power, and we will make the justice system operate on the basis of fairness, justice and truth one day again.”

Well, that’s not a threat at all, is it? At the rate we are going, President Trump will be handing out preemptive pardons to ICE agents just to prevent this kind of political retribution.

After Walz and Frey got done with their X pity parties, Attorney General Pam Bondi responded on X with the Democrats’ favorite reminder.

That’s great, but as of right now, it is “unclear” if there will be any charges filed against Walz or Frey. If there are no charges, and no prosecution, then what was the point of starting an investigation? Real justice needs to have real consequences for actions, not performative grandstanding that riles people up in the social media sphere. In other words, if this investigation goes nowhere, then we better get an explanation why Walz and Frey are skating away from their inflammatory rhetoric and secessionist language without any consequences.
