Walz Administration: Fraud? What Fraud?

Walz Administration: Fraud? What Fraud?

Walz Administration: Fraud? What Fraud?

Of course they did. Of course he did. Tim Walz didn’t want to see or hear about no stinking fraud in Minnesota. Information like that was just SO inconvenient.

A Republican-led congressional oversight report alleges that senior Minnesota officials, including Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., failed for years to act on warnings about fraud in the state’s social services programs, allowing hundreds of millions of dollars in confirmed or alleged losses and placing billions more at risk.

The Walz administration had the power to stop fraudulent payments to high-risk entities receiving federal nutrition and Medicaid funds, but the state “repeatedly failed to act” after officials raised concerns, according to a 205-page final staff report released by the House Oversight Committee on Monday.

Congressional investigators found that concerns about potential racial discrimination claims — rather than legal constraints — contributed to the Walz administration’s decision to continue paying providers suspected of fraud.

The committee also spoke to nearly 30 whistleblowers, some of whom accused the Walz administration of retaliation against state employees for sounding the alarm about potential fraud.

Of course, because it is a Republican led committee, all the Democrats will wave this off as partisan hit job. The fact that they’ll want to continue sweeping the Quality Learing Centers and Feeding Our Future fraud under the rug tells us… THEY KNEW.

And willfully, deliberately failed to act. While also retaliating against whistleblowers.

1. Senior officials in Governor Walz’s office and Attorney General Ellison’s office were aware of credible, systemic fraud concerns in social services programs as early as 2019 within the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and by April 2020 within the state Department of Education (MDE), despite later public statements by Governor Walz suggesting otherwise.

2. Minnesota state agencies had clear authority to suspend or stop payments to providers suspected of fraud without requiring independent direction from courts, law enforcement agencies, or the federal government but failed to act.

3. In the case of fraud by non-profit Feeding our Future (FOF), MDE continued payments even after identifying serious program deficiencies. Continuing payments were a voluntary state action and not responsive to any court order to resume payments. The state’s decision to continue payments allowed hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to continue going to fraudsters for another eight months until the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) executed a search warrant at FOF’s offices.

4. Litigation threats and fear of accusations of discrimination, not legal or regulatory barriers, were repeatedly cited by state officials as the reason for continued funding of entities suspected of fraud.

5. Despite Governor Walz’s claims, law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, never directed Minnesota state officials to continue payments to Feeding our Future or other suspected fraudulent providers.

Read all of that again. Minnesota officials KNEW there was fraud. And did nothing, other than penalize whistleblowers. Why? Because they didn’t want to antagonize the Somali community. Seriously.

Furthermore, the state media knew there was rampant fraud. And even now, are still trying to put lipstick on the fraud.

And the Minnesota Star Tribune is radio silent at this writing. As is, Tim Walz. Go figure.

It was only when the FBI got involved, along with the DOJ, and they also realized the media attention that started really brewing was going to make them look bad, that the mad scramble to cover their assess started. With Jazz Hands Timmy trying to convince everyone there was nothing to see.

Too little, too late though. They were trying to slam the barn door shut after it had been left wide open for years!

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison are responsible for one of the most stunning oversight failures this Committee has ever examined,” committee chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said. “Today’s report is the culmination of months of investigative work and reveals hard evidence showing how the Walz Administration failed to stop widespread fraud, allowing criminals to enrich themselves at the expense of American taxpayers.

“Billions of dollars were stolen because Minnesota state leaders turned a blind eye to rampant fraud and retaliated against state employees who dared to raise concerns. It is now clear the Walz Administration chose to protect the system rather than protect the taxpayer,” he added. “Americans are fed up with fraud and expect action from the government entrusted with their hard-earned money.”

There have been convictions via the DOJ cases. But those convictions are barely the tip of the iceberg when you consider the fraud is in the billions of dollars range. As for those in the state agencies and the Administration level in Minnesota who turned a blind eye to all of this taxpayer fraud, what is next?

Yes, there MUST be actionable consequences or all of this is meaningless and the American taxpayers will still get fleeced.
