Ukraine Tensions Up As Biden Sends Mixed Messages

The Biden foreign policy decisions being made right now are going to be the end of Ukraine as an independent nation.

Joe Biden and his administration are sending out so many mixed messages regarding Vladimir Putin, Russia, and Ukraine – often STRAIGHT TO Putin, Russia, and Ukraine – that it’s hard to keep up with which message is going out now. But none of them bode any good for Ukraine’s future. Here’s what has been said or released by the Biden administration in just the last couple of days.

1) Biden tells Americans to leave Ukraine now, but says Russia won’t do anything to Americans (maybe).
During his yet-to-be-aired pre-Super Bowl interview with Lester Holt (where Biden had a hard time remembering exactly what countries he was talking about), Biden decided to tell Americans in Ukraine to get the heck out of Dodge now, and don’t bother waiting for that “orderly withdrawl” plan that the Defense Department had talked about on Wednesday. Just go now.

“American citizens should leave now,” Biden said in an interview with NBC News anchor Lester Holt.”

“It’s not like we’re dealing with a terrorist organization. We’re dealing with one of the largest armies in the world. It’s a very different situation, and things could go crazy quickly,” he said.”

Holt asked Biden what scenario could prompt him to send troops to rescue Americans fleeing the country. Biden replied: “There’s not. That’s a world war when Americans and Russia start shooting at one another.”

“We’re in a very different world than we’ve ever been,” he added.”

And whose fault is that, President Brandon? To add to the chaotic feel, the State Department added to the upended plans by saying “yeah, no American troops will be around to help during an evacuation.”

Separately on Thursday, the State Department issued an advisory warning that the U.S. “will not be able to evacuate U.S. citizens in the event of Russian military action anywhere in Ukraine.” It warned that regular consulate service — including aiding citizens trying to leave the country — would be “severely impacted.”

But then in the VERY SAME INTERVIEW, Biden tells Holt that Putin knows better than to mess with American citizens. Oh really now?

Biden argued that if Russian President Vladimir Putin is “foolish enough to go in, he’s smart enough not to, in fact, do anything that would negatively impact on American citizens.”

“Have you ever told him that?” Holt asked.”

“Yes,” Biden responded.”

“You’ve told him that, that Americans will be a line that they can’t cross?” Holt asked.”

“I didn’t have to tell him that. I’ve spoken about that. He knows that,” Biden said.”

This is rapidly becoming the Twilight Zone of foreign policy, and heaven help us all with this old senile fool in the Oval Office.

2) The Pentagon pulls American “military advisors” from Ukraine.
So much for keeping an eye on things. The 160 troops currently in Ukraine are being moved out of the country “out of an abundance of caution.” Wow, that REALLY sounds like Biden told Putin not to mess with Americans, doesn’t it?

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered the temporary repositioning of 160 members of the Florida National Guard to other countries in Europe, Pentagon press secretary John F. Kirby said Saturday.”

“The Secretary made this decision out of an abundance of caution — with the safety and security of our personnel foremost in mind — and informed by the State Department’s guidance on U.S. personnel in Ukraine,” Mr. Kirby said.”

He said the repositioning “does not signify a change in our determination to support Ukraine’s Armed Forces, but will provide flexibility in assuring allies and deterring aggression.”

The troops, who are assigned to the 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, have been in Ukraine since late November as part of the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine.”

Nothing says “commitment,” like leaving, am I right?

3) Biden and Putin have a phone call while both the American and Russian embassies pull staff from Ukraine.
This just happened today. The phone call supposedly lasted an hour, and all that happened (according to the White House) was that Biden warned Putin that there would be CONSEQUENCES.

And then both sides magically started reducing their embassy staff.

The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine said Saturday that it had ordered the departure of most direct-hire employees from the country and that only a “core” group of diplomats would remain. The embassy said it would operate limited consular services out of Lviv, considered a more safe location because of its proximity to the Polish border.”

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Russia had decided on a “certain optimization” of staffing at the Russian Embassy in Kyiv and its consulates in Kharkiv, Odessa and Lviv because it feared “certain provocations by the Kyiv regime or third nations.” She said consular services will continue.”

Those moves sound reassuring to exactly no one, as Sweden and Denmark are now telling their citizens in Ukraine to get out of the country now. No one knows what “swift and severe costs” look like, but apparently they involve no American military presence and an extremely limited embassy staff in Ukraine.

And now we wait and watch. Someday, an honest reckoning of history will look at Joe Biden and tar and feather him for his massive foreign policy failures. We have yet to see the shape of this particular failure, but if you don’t have a sickening feeling about the future of Ukraine – and make no mistake, China is watching what happens next as well – then I don’t know what to tell you.
