Trump Vs. Wheeler In Portland Chaos
Trump Vs. Wheeler In Portland Chaos
All sides agree on one thing: Portland, Oregon, is completely out of control.
Who is to blame for that? That’s when the fingers start pointing, and the narrative starts to become obvious.
The murder of Aaron Danielson, who was known by his nickname “Jay,” a Trump supporter who was in downtown Portland on Saturday night, looks like a targeted hit by someone looking to kill. The Twitter video of the shooting shows a cold-blooded killing.
It sounds like someone is shouting, “We got a Trumper right here” just before the shots are fired and the man is killed. pic.twitter.com/MMCnp5iwtj

This led to this perfect summation of Mayor Ted Wheeler, the feckless and worthless mayor of Portland, by one Twitter user who got retweeted by President Trump.

Well, Ted Wheeler got his marching orders, and did his best to spread the new narrative in his press conference on Sunday. Old and busted: what riots? This is a summer of love! Also old and busted: peacefulness intensifying. And also out the window: “fiery but mostly peaceful protests.” The new hotness? “The riots are all Donald Trump’s fault!”
I mean, Ted Wheeler made a big show about telling Donald Trump to leave Portland when federal officers were protecting the courthouse, and then tweeted out a formal refusal of any kind of additional assistance less than two days before the murder occurred, but sure, blame the Bad Orange Man for causing the riots that he offered to help stop.
Ted Wheeler is in way over his head, and that’s being kind to the mayor.
And of course, President Trump was watching, or being briefed on, this press conference as it was happening. Did you really think that the president was going to sit idly by and let himself be blamed for Antifa violence? Have you SEEN his Twitter feed?
Wheeler said Trump’s tweets “attacking Democratic mayors” are unhelpful when he could help unite instead. At one point, he said, “Do you seriously wonder, Mr. President why this is the first time in decades that Americans have seen this level of violence? It’s you who have created the hate and the division.”
The president appears to have ben (sic) watching, as he added to the criticism of Wheeler’s response to the violence in his city, calling him “a fool” and saying, “He would like to blame me and the Federal Government for going in, but he hasn’t seen anything yet… The people of Portland, like all other cities & parts of our great Country, want Law & Order. The Radical Left Democrat Mayors, like the dummy running Portland, or the guy right now in his basement unwilling to lead or even speak out against crime, will never be able to do it!”
And because the media loves nothing more than a good cat fight, they told Wheeler during the presser what Trump had tweeted.
Asked in turn about the tweets, Wheeler responded on live television.”
“Mr. President, how can you think that a comment like that, if you’re watching this, is in any way helpful?” he asked. “It is an aggressive stance. It is not collaborative.”
Um, Mayor Wheeler, did you notice that it’s YOUR CITY that’s currently being roiled by riots and now a politically motivated murder? You JUST SAID that the president has sown “hate and division” that have caused “this level of violence” (wait, did Ferguson and Baltimore never happen?) and then you whine that he’s not being “helpful”?
So, while Mayor Wheeler tried to shove blame off for his own pathetic leadership skills, Governor Kate Brown decided to blame the Patriot Prayer group for inciting the violence (so blame the victim for being shot, nicely done) and revealing her own plan for stopping the violence in Portland – mainly sending in the Oregon State Police, giving the Portland Police Bureau bodycams if they want them, and then sitting down to talk with “protest leaders” to “discuss racial justice and police reform.”
You think that Antifa, the rioters, and the anarchists are listening to Ted Wheeler or Kate Brown? They know who runs the streets of Portland, and it’s them.

Neither Wheeler or Brown can control Frankenstein’s monster that they have let run amok. Right now, they just want to blame Trump, and the right wing, for being Frankenstein before they have to shoulder that responsibility.
My heart breaks for Portland – it is where my grandmother grew up, and where her side of the family returned to after internment. I spent a lot of my childhood there. It gives me no joy to say to every sane resident of Portland – get out now, while you can. You are not safe, and the mayor and the governor lack the moral will to protect you. Portland is going to burn on the altar of Antifa, and people need to leave immediately.
