Trump Issues Executive Orders On Birthright Citizenship And Birth Tourism

Birthright citizenship and its money-grubbing offshoot, birth tourism, has been a problem in this country for decades. President Trump has now issued two new Executive Orders trying to end those practices.

President Donald Trump said Thursday that he is once more trying to limit the number of people who are born in the country who can become American citizens, in a sign that even after his first attempt at limiting birthright citizenship was rejected by the Supreme Court, he’s ready to try again.

The president said he was signing two executive actions on immigration, including one limiting the number of people eligible for U.S. citizenship after being born in the United States, while another focused on stopping people from coming to the U.S. to give birth.

The written executive order released later Thursday was narrower in scope than the previous one shot down by the Supreme Court and appeared to focus on restricting automatic citizenship to specific categories of people, including children born to adults with connections to foreign embassies or organizations as well as anyone considered an “alien enemy” of the United States.

It also aimed to restrict birthright citizenship to anyone whose parents “engaged in fraudulent activity to obtain citizenship.”

Birth tourism makes bank off of bringing people into the U.S. just in time to give birth and have their baby set for life as an American citizen. As Toni wrote here in late 2024, birth tourism has an estimated 30-40 THOUSAND babies born in the U.S. every year. All of whom can come back as adults and claim citizenship without having done anything to EARN it, other than being born in the U.S.

President Donald Trump on Thursday signed two executive orders targeting birthright citizenship and birth tourism, saying his administration is taking a new approach after what he called a “very unfortunate” Supreme Court ruling.

“We’re making adjustments because it’s very unfair,” Trump said. “They’re building businesses around birthright citizenship. That’s not the way it was supposed to work. It’s a disgrace. They’re buying their way in, and we’re not going to let it happen.”

The moves come after the Supreme Court blocked Trump’s earlier executive order seeking to limit automatic birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment.

President Trump is correct. People are essentially buying their way into the U.S.

Which is a total slap in the face of the many who spend years working within the immigration system to become proud American citizens. Birthright citizenship and tourism diminishes rather than elevates this country.

Thus it was a huge disappointment when the U.S. Supreme Court, even after Ketanji Brown Jackson asked truly idiotic questions, essentially ruled to keep the status quo. A ruling that had the Democrats rejoicing and ticked off rational Americans.

So, President Trump along with White House staff and the DOJ did some research. Which led to yesterday’s announcements of the two new Executive Orders.

The current system absolutely needs corrected. While we all thought the original orders would prevail, the Supreme Court ruling put a wrench in the works. Now, with these new EO’s, the text is even more concise. Something the media doesn’t like.

Mr. Scharf described “birth tourism” as “something that used to happen incidentally, where somebody who happened to be on vacation here went to labor early and had a baby,” a relatively narrow subset that has grown into “organized rings, at times criminal rings, setting up a system whereby” tens of thousands of people come to the country solely for that purpose.

Mr. Scharf said among the actions being considered would be denying visas to visitors they suspect are coming to the country solely for delivering a child in the United States.

You and I know that the media and Democrats are scurrying as fast as they can over to their favorite activist judges (Boasberg) to have these new EO’s halted.

The Birth Tourism EO reads in part:

Birth tourism operators use deceptive advertisements and inducements to entice foreign nationals to travel to the United States for the purpose of giving birth on American soil. They promise citizenship; access to public benefits; and short-term stays in specialized facilities, hotels, or rentals, but often fail to deliver on these promises. These operators coach their clients to misrepresent the purpose and duration of their travel to consular and border officials to obtain visas authorizing entry into the United States.

Birth tourism, defined in section 3 of this order, undermines the integrity of the Nation’s immigration system by enabling foreign nationals to exploit their temporary admission to obtain permanent immigration-related benefits.

The American Citizenship EO very clearly lays out who is and isn’t eligible under the 14th Amendment’s birthright citizenship.

Do you want to know a gigantic reason why the use of birth tourism and the misuse of birthright citizenship should be of massive concern to us all?

VOTES.

Any one of those new citizens can show up in this country at the age of 18 and vote, no questions asked. China and Russia are two of the countries who are heavily involved in this industry.

Keep in mind, as we’ve pointed out before, Democrats USED to be in favor of this same ban.

They don’t want anyone to know that Harry Reid really wanted to ban birthright citizenship and the legislation came pretty close to passing.

But since it’s President Trump, the Democrats and media will do everything they can to block these Executive Orders and let birthright citizenship and tourism continue to run unchecked. Plus, the Democrats are banking on the fact that these birth tourism babies will eventually grow up and vote Democrat.
