Tone-Deaf Leftist Activists Party In Cuba During Power Grid Collapse

Cuba’s power grid collapsed for the third time in less than a month yesterday. All while tone-deaf leftist activists rocked out in their air-conditioned buses and 5-star $130-$520 a night hotel rooms. The entire country had no electricity with the exception of the places that had working generators.

Cuba’s power grid collapsed Saturday leaving the country without electricity for a third time in March as the communist government battles with a decaying infrastructure and a U.S.-imposed oil blockade.

The Cuban Electric Union, which reports to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, announced a total blackout across the island without initially giving a cause for the outage.

The union later said the blackout was caused by an unexpected failure of a generating unit at the Nuevitas thermoelectric plant in Camagüey province.

“From that moment, a cascading effect occurred in the machines that were online,” said a report from the Ministry of Energy and Mines, which activated “micro-islands” of generating units to provide power to vital centers, hospitals and water systems.

Authorities said they were working to restore power.

Power outages, whether nationwide or regional, have become relatively common in the last two years due to breakdowns in the aging infrastructure. The breakdowns are compounded by daily blackouts of up to 12 hours caused by fuel shortages, which also destabilize the system.

Communist-loving Jeremy Corbyn, the harpy denizens of Code Pink, Ilhan Omar’s daughter Irsa playacting as a revolutionary, and over 600 others descended upon Cuba last week to prance around screeching about U.S. “imperialism.”

See what I mean about tone-deaf?? Oh, but it gets worse. You see, they rode around in cute little buses gawking at the architecture while singing songs. Only one problem with some of those songs, particularly Celia Cruz’s song.

As several others have pointed out, inconvenient facts like that don’t matter to the leftist activists who’ve embarked upon their poverty tourism escapades. Nope, everything that is wrong in Cuba, including power grid failures, is the fault of the imperialist United States and President Trump.

Guess who organized this party?

The stunt was organized by Cuban politician Mariela Castro through a nonprofit called Progressive International. Few details have been released about how the hundreds of boxes and suitcases of aid will be distributed once they arrive on the island, the local press noted.

Castro is the daughter of Raúl Castro, Cuba’s former president who maintains substantial behind-the-scenes influence in the country — and is Fidel Castro’s brother.

That’s certainly convenient. These leftist activists are bragging about bringing food, medicine, and supplies to Cuba. Will any of the 20 tons actually make it to the Cubans who NEED it? Highly doubtful. And that amount is hardly a drop in the bucket when you factor in that Cuba has a population of over 11 million.

Those of us with a rational reasoned view point of Cuba fully understand that the power grid collapse isn’t because of the United States. It’s because of the Cuban government’s priorities, or lack thereof. Castro’s government is the ones who decided to not prioritize keeping the power grid up to date.

Keep in mind, Cuba’s power grid also collapsed during the Biden Administration. Where were all those virtuous leftists then??

From his swanky $520 per night hotel room I’d bet. Want to see further evidence of how tone-deaf and condescending these activists are? Gaze upon Mamdani pal Hasan Piker’s pronouncement.

Yes, he really went into the … those who escaped Castro’s dictatorship are the crazy delusional ones, while those who weren’t able to escape are the rational ones. You can’t make this shit up.

Do any of them CARE that their concert contributed to the collapse of the power grid? The answer is NO.

In fact, it’s looking highly likely that people died because of the power outage. The Kneecap band, Code Pink, and the rest don’t give a damn about that. Hospital ventilators shut off so patients died? Sucks to be them. Podcasting from your comfy hotel is far more important.

Yes indeed. 650 larping activists from around the world descended upon Cuba, gawked at Cuban citizens, danced at a protest concert, and are blaming the United States for the power failure.

At least their political theatre game is strong. Painting a “mural wall” filled with notes of love will most certainly feed the Cuban people and keep the lights on.

As for actually HELPING the Cuban people? That’s too much work. And we all know that “work” is a four letter word to these commie-loving idiots.

No mention of Michael Moore being there – so he couldn’t rush to the hospital and tell the patients dying because it had no electricity (or, probably lots of other things like medicines and food) about how great the Cuban free medical care is.
