Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) was allowed entry to Israel for humanitarian reasons. However, instead of graciously moving forward with her visit to her grandmother; Tlaib threw a tantrum and is now refusing to go citing Israel’s oppression, racism, and REASONS!

As noted in the post earlier today, Tlaib and Omar were denied entry to Israel given their support of Palestine and that the sponsors of their trip are the virulently anti-Semitic BDS group MIFTAH. Want to know just how heinous this MIFTAH group is? Read here, and this as well.

What is interesting about all of this is that Tlaib did lash out yesterday about Israel’s refusal, yet she quietly penned a letter requesting entry for humanitarian reasons.

Did you catch that? Tlaib specifically noted that she will respect any restrictions and not discuss or promote boycotts against Israel while there. And so, Interior Minister Deri granted her request.

That should’ve been the end of that right? WRONG. Tlaib went on a tantrum tweet this morning.

Silencing me & treating me like a criminal is not what she wants for me. It would kill a piece of me. I have decided that visiting my grandmother under these oppressive conditions stands against everything I believe in–fighting against racism, oppression & injustice. https://t.co/z5t5j3qk4H

There’s a few things wrong with her commentary.

She doesn’t represent Palestinians. She SHOULD be representing her district in Michigan …here in the United States!

Her letter specifically stated she would agree to follow the laws and rules of Israel. But now she’s telling us that she won’t because all their policies are oppressive and racist.

Israel is treating her like a criminal? On what planet?

It is somehow humiliating to her that she can’t advocate for the destruction of Israel. Bless her heart.

The statement issued from her office is even worse than her little tweet tantrum.

“”In my attempt to visit Palestine, I’ve experienced the same racist treatment that many Palestinian-Americans endure when encountering the Israeli government. In preparation for my visit, my grandmother was deciding which fig tree we would pick from together, while Palestinians and Israelis who are against the illegal military occupation were looking forward to Members of Congress finally listening to and seeing them for the first time. The Israeli government used my love and desire to see my grandmother to silence me and made my ability to do so contingent upon my signing a letter – reflecting just how undemocratic and afraid they are of the truth my trip would reveal about what is happening in the State of Israel and to Palestinians living under occupation with United States support.”

The remainder of her statement makes it clear that she is all about advocating FOR Palestinians, spreading hate and disinformation about Israel. Her constituents in Michigan? To hell with them. Her statement makes it abundantly clear that her sole purpose as a Congresswoman is to see Israel wiped off the map. 

““Racism and the politics of hate is thriving in Israel and the American people should fear what this will mean for the relationship between our two nations. If you truly believe in democracy, then the close alignment of Netanyahu with Trump’s hate agenda must prompt a re-evaluation of our unwavering support for the State of Israel. The denial of entry of a congressional delegation is not only about Congresswoman Omar and I, but also about the deep-rooted racism within Israel that is taking us further away from peace.”

The Washington Post is fully sympathetic to her plight, as is The Hill and other media outlets. Why? Because the narrative was set yesterday. Give cover to Tlaib and Omar while painting Trump and Israel as the bad guys in all of this. At least the WaPo did include the commentary from Minister Deri who pointed out that in refusing the visit, Tlaib is putting her hatred for Israel way in front of her love for her grandmother.

Furthermore, Caroline Glick points out that denying Tlaib and Omar entry isn’t about politics.

Israel barred Omar and Tlaib in 2017 when the Knesset passed a law barring BDS activists entry. They advocate BDS and are therefore barred from e try.

Read her entire thread. It is indeed a law and order issue. NOT politics.

Israel granted her request. She rewarded them by turning it into a publicity stunt with a rant about how she won’t go now under these conditions.

We don’t need to ask why Tlaib and Omar were sponsored by MIFTAH. The answer is in Tlaib’s conduct today. This trip was NEVER about her aging grandmother. It always was about promoting Palestine over Israel, pushing their anti-Semitic narrative, and furthering BDS strategies against Israel. Tlaib used her grandmother as a political prop. Period.
