The Obama Administration Doesn’t Even Pretend to Say #JeSuisCharlie

As we here at Victory Girls reported yesterday, President Obama had no plans to go to Paris for yesterday’s unity march – despite a clear schedule.

His absence did not go unnoticed.

But what was even worse was that outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder was IN Paris and was supposed to attend the march. He didn’t bother showing up, either.

US Attorney General Eric Holder, who was in Paris Sunday to attend a meeting of interior and justice ministers discussing measures to combat jihadist attacks, was meant to have participated in the rally according to the White House on Saturday, but did not do so, the US embassy in Paris confirmed.

The embassy did not say why Holder did not attend the march. It said the United States was represented in the huge rally by its ambassador to France, Jane Hartley.

Holder, who was protected while in France by a detail of FBI officers, said after the ministers’ meeting that US President Barack Obama wanted to hold a summit of allied leaders in Washington on February 18 to “discuss ways in which we can counteract this violent extremism that exists around the world”.

And no top administration official attended the unity march in Washington, D.C., either. Even though it was blocks from the White House.

But back in Washington, almost no senior administration officials participated in the much smaller rally and march that took place Sunday afternoon only blocks from the White House. Assistant Secretary of State for Europe Victoria Nuland was the only official representative.

The cover of today’s New York Daily News, and its story, were particularly scathing.

The lack of U.S. leadership was glaringly apparent as Hollande linked arms with Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron, and dozens of other world leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

It’s not clear why America’s President didn’t attend. Obama’s public schedule was empty Sunday, as was that of Vice President Joe Biden, one of the president’s most frequent surrogates.

Secretary of State John Kerry — a natural stand-in given his love of all things French and fluency in the language — was in India on Sunday, meeting with the Prime Minister to set the stage for President Obama’s visit there in a few weeks.

Obama is the lazy boyfriend to the rest of the world. He’s the type that needs to be able to mark “in a relationship” on his Facebook profile, but he can’t be inconvenienced with putting any effort into the relationship. So, if everyone could just come over to his place on February 18th, he’ll really work on things then. But, in the meantime, that golf isn’t gonna play itself.

And the rest of the administration takes their cues from him. It is seriously embarrassing to have Eric Holder, who is SUPPOSED to be packing up his desk at the Justice Department, representing the United States in the first place, but then to not even bother to symbolically link arms with other leaders at the march? Was he too busy getting croissants for everyone at the march??? No one knows who the American ambassador to France is, so no one would even notice if she was there or not.

And there’s not much point to even posing the rhetorical questions when we all know the answer.

We’ve all known for a very long time that he just doesn’t care.

And nothing short of terrorists blowing up Pebble Beach is going to make him care.

I could not BE more embarrassed by this administration.

  • TMR says:

This action is beyond disgraceful. Even sending the senile lecher VP Biden would have been better than not showing at all.

  • Wfjag says:

The UK Daily Mail reports that the Prez watched the NFL playoff games instead of being bothered with French silliness. SecState Kerry has labelled any criticism of the administration’s nonresponse response by a nonsupport support of our oldest ally as “Quibbling,” which ends further discussion.
Meantime, does anyone know what “PINO” means? It’s apparently a term gaining popularity in the rest of the world.

  • Appalled By The World says:

I’m glad this maladministration failed to care-maybe now all those idiots in the rest of the world who were swooning over this putz in 2008 and 2009 can clearly see what a horse’s ass he’s been all along.

Maybe somebody in France will call for the Nobel prize people to take back its peace award from Mr. Wonderful-wouldn’t that be a hoot?

  • And yet he sends 3 representatives to the Michael Brown/Ferguson funeral. What an ass.

  • Chris in N.Va. says:

The only French Ozymandias-on-the-Potomac knows (apart from Jean Francois I-served-in-Vietnam Kerry) and is ever on his lips is:

    L’etat, c’est moi!

  • Penny says:

This prez & his minions are un-freaking-believable!!!! Even his spokesman with the ridiculous name (Josh, good natured banter, and Earnest, which is an adjective that is quite foreign to this admin) didn’t want to say where old PINO was at the time. Yeah, watching football games, because that would be less offensive than out playing golf?!?!?
