Salon: Erika Kirk Can’t Replace Her Husband

Days after Charlie Kirk is laid to rest, Amanda Marcotte at Salon shows us exactly how “pro-woman” she is.

Hint: she is “pro-woman” as long as you are not the wife of a “far-right” Conservative peddling “gutter misogyny”.

Erika Kirk has been extraordinarily public with her grief, sharing a video of herself crying as she kisses her dead husband’s hands, giving an interview to the New York Times and making a pair of impassioned speeches, including one on Sunday at Kirk’s televised five-hour memorial service in front of tens of thousands of mourners at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. In all, her social media-oriented mourning has been leveraged to cast her as a reluctant but determined warrior for Christ. So far, it’s been working relatively well. Republicans have been using the deplorable way Kirk was killed to rebrand him as a Christian martyr. ‘More than anything, Charlie wanted to do not his will, but God’s will,’ Erika Kirk said during her husband’s memorial, after her stage entrance was lit with fireworks.”-Amanda Marcotte, Salon

The venom in Marcotte’s writing is very real.Amanda Marcotte would be fortunate to have the fraction of followers on her social media platforms or turning out for her to celebrate her memory. Marcotte and her ramblings illustrate the left perfectly: envious, bitter, jealous, Godless and without a soul. Her quotes on Erika Kirk’s actions after her husband’s murder are not intended to flatter in any way, shape or form. These words are intended to insult and poke fun at widow’s pain and slice deep. THIS is the person Amanda Marcotte is.

What spawned this hateful diatribe? A video of a college woman who unintentionally flashed Charlie Kirk at one of his TPUSA events:

But even if she did it on purpose, Kirk’s reaction was disgusting. He rolled out the video on YouTube and his social media channels with headlines that framed the young woman as sexually loose. ‘SHE TRIES TO FLASH ME!’ declared one headline. ‘Did Hater Try to Flash Charlie Kirk to Get Him Banned on YouTube?’ read another.

The headlines were dishonest in another way, though, promising potential viewers that the girl was “wrecked” by Kirk in this ‘debate.’ Anyone who actually listened to what the girl said knows that, on traditional metrics like being right and making sense, she cleaned his clock.”-Amanda Marcotte, Salon

Did she really “clean his clock”, Mandy? Dearest Readers, you be the judge here:

This scantily-clad, young woman who keeps pulling her pants up did not have much substance. She could not name one law. With latte in hand, she was unprepared as the went up to the mic to scold Charlie Kirk about debating unprepared, (and uniformed) young people. Kirk informed her that she was an adult and old enough to vote but the concept was completely lost on this young woman. So, did she really clean his clock? Mandy rages on:

In a more recent video from July, Kirk yelled at a college girl that abortion bans are necessary to force her to ‘take responsibility for your orgasms.'”-Amanda Marcotte, Salon

(GASP!) God forbid people take responsibility for their orgasms! Sounds about right. Call me a supporter of “gutter misogyny”, then, because I, as a woman, don’t feel that I should be paying for another woman’s abortion as a form of birth control. Anyone who is old enough to know better should know this: orgasms have consequences. If not careful, the “consequence” is the creation of a human life. This is a real-world responsibility.

Marcotte goes on to call these “kids” (her words) in Charlie Kirk’s debate videos “cogent and persuasive”. Sheer proof that Mandy lives in a completely alternate universe. Most of them think they are quite the provocateurs, but get stumped by reason. They are nothing more than indoctrinated, wet-behind-the-ears young people who have not yet lived in the real world and it’s glaringly obvious. Their maturity is lacking. If they continue on this trajectory, they will write pieces in Salon and be just like Mandy, who goes on to drag Erika Kirk even more:

When Charlie Kirk was still alive, his wife played a valuable role in his brand as a scolder-of-feminists. She was held up as a counterpoint to the supposedly slutty teenage girls he spent his time sneering at for the camera. Because the Turning Point empire was heavy on visuals and light on substance, looking the part was a big part of Erika Kirk’s role. While the young women that would confront Kirk at his faux-debate events often wore shorts or crop shirts, Erika Kirk favored fluffy, pink and floral clothes that were often almost cartoonishly hyper-feminine.”-Amanda Marcotte, Salon

Fluffy, pink, floral, girly-clothes, Amanda? Have you looked at the dreadful frocks donned by “true feminists” who were in The White House? Michelle Obama? Jill Biden? Note: when First Lady, Melania Trump wears a solid-colored pantsuit that hugs the curves, what do the liberals call her?

Where Kirk’s interlocutors were angry, their faces full of the disgust his male audience members no doubt recognize from their own dealings with women, Erika Kirk presented a fantasy alternative. She was usually photographed gazing adoringly up at her husband, often while gathering their children around her in a beatific — and patriarchal — tableau.

Erika Kirk’s presence was not as a leader, but as a shield.”-Amanda Marcotte, Salon

Amanda Marcotte has no clue what the climate looks like on a college campus. Hookup culture is real. Dating on campus has become “toxic” (my son’s words, not mine). Young men are frustrated and have sworn off dating because they don’t want a superficial, Instagram Kardashian, they want an Erika Kirk. Society tells them they don’t want this and alas, they are freaking miserable. My 19 year-old is a perfect example of this and is not interested in women who want to be as slutty as they wanna be. He does not want or need the mental anguish of keeping up with the BS. He wants something meaningful and otherwise, he’s not at all interested. I think some other young men want the same. They want God-loving and loyal. They want smart, beauty and brains. They don’t want a woman who goes along with the trends of the world, but a woman of honor who is willing to stand up and challenge the status quo on college campuses. She not only talks the talk, but she walks that walk. This woman is hard to find because she is in hiding. Erika Kirk can bring her out into the open and, Dear God, I’m 100 percent here for it.

Amanda Marcotte can demean Erika Kirk and her abilities all she wants in her petty, little existence, in her delusional little world, but we know the widow of Charlie Kirk is more than a “shield” in a pretty, floral dress.

Charlie Kirk cannot be replaced. But Erika Kirk is a force to be reckoned with, which is a helluva lot more than we can say about a certain writer at Salon.

“Erika Kirk’s presence was not as a leader, but as a shield.”

For folks that have never encountered that term in this context, it basically is saying that Charlie was able to get away with being cisheteronormativepatriarchalcolonial because he had a hot wife. It’s like the bit about “I can’t be a bigot! I have a black friend.”

And sorry Amanda but guys don’t want a girl like you whose been run through more times than a yellow light. Charlie was encouraging things to go back to normal and you can’t accept that because it forces you to be a better person.
