Rep. Elect Ilhan Omar and the New Progressive Caucus Take Over Congress

While some may consider a candidacy and newly elected Congresswoman historic, others of us, like say, me, find it very troubling. Ilhan Omar was elected to Congress and will be officially sworn in next week. While the Left is swooning over Miss Omar, there are already signals that she is not only progressive but savvy. She is not like Rep-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez aka, gaffe prone and unwilling to learn. Ilhan Omar is savvy and smart and filled with some hatreds.

The Star Tribune, the paper of record in Minnesota, ran a mostly sugar sweet article, Ilhan Omar’s Influence Already Expanding In Congress. Quoting from the article:

This wave of enthusiasm is creating a big opening for incoming freshmen like Omar, who are usually relegated to less influential committee assignments. It’s also altering the dynamics of Congress, where the roughly 95 members of the new progressive caucus will have the largest voting bloc among House Democrats.

Omar was recently elected to a leadership role in the caucus, a position that will give her more influence, but that is nearly certain to draw more criticism.

“Top Democratic leaders have proactively sought conversations with Ilhan Omar and some other progressive stars to make sure that their views are firmly at the table,” said Adam Green, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, which endorsed Omar. She attended the group’s legislative training in 2015. “I think it’s an acknowledgment that they have such a large voice and bully pulpit right now, and the ability to drive the national debate.”

Ninety-five members in the new progressive caucus? Yes, they can certainly drive the Democrat agenda. Even without seniority, committee assignments or chairmanships, a group that large drives the agenda. What does Ilhan Omar hope to accomplish in her position as an elected representative of the people of Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District. She is replacing Keith Ellison who was accused of alleged domestic violence. Now, of course, he is Minnesota’s Attorney General. Sheesh Minnesota, what is up?

According to Ilhan Omar from the Star Tribune article:

Omar told the Star Tribune that her early priorities will include an infrastructure package — funding roads, bridges and broadband internet — and a measure that would institute publicly funded political campaigns and automatic voter registration. She’s also advocating for a proposed constitutional amendment to undo the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United ruling that allows corporations and labor unions the right to spend unlimited money in political campaigns.

Ruh-roh, Shaggy. Did you read that last bit. I thought Citizens United was settled law. Oops. And, um, publicly funded political campaigns and automatic voter registration. Not just no, but aw hale no.

Let us take a look at this woman’s background and information and see what we can glean.

1. She may have married her brother? This is one drugged addled, tangled web. You can try to read the October, 2018 Star Tribune article here. I tried to diagram her marital situation out, but it was too confusing. Her statement on this issue:

“We recognize how these folks are deeply invested in stopping a progressive, Black, Muslim, hijab-wearing, immigrant woman,” Omar said. “We know these people are part of systems that have historically been disturbingly motivated to silence, discredit and dehumanize influencers who threaten the establishment.”

Translation: Only a racist, Islamaphobic, anti-immigrant misogynist would dare to question me.

2. Omar is insensitive to the Christian majority. Yes, I was trying to be polite there. Here is her Tweet:

Vice President Pence was probably praying that he didn’t laugh at Chuck and Nancy in that border wall discussion.

3. Omar is anti-Semitic. I feel very confidant in typing that based on:

Evil? Oh, no you d’int.

4. Ilhan Omar talks a lot and says absolutely nothing, but she virtue signals like a total champ. Don’t be ashamed to admit that you couldn’t watch this whole video. I made it 2:45 in. She said absolutely nothing. For what it’s worth, South Africa is nearly 3,000 miles from Somalia and an entirely different culture.

Progressives are very dangerous and antithetical to our Constitution. Coercion is not freedom. I don’t mean to fear-monger but I think this woman is very very dangerous. Not because of who she is. Because of what she thinks.
