Performative Politics And The Crying Celebrity

Celebrity culture has been steeped in performative politics for quite some time now. From MeToo, to Black Lives Matter in the wake of cutesy “Stay Home, Stay Safe” videos, to “Free Palestine”, the woke celebrity machine has consumers who buy into this stuff.

Ben Shapiro tells us it’s no different with the latest chaos in Minneapolis, the Trump Administration and ICE.

Democratic politicians are being driven by a media and celebrity culture that has decided that what’s going on with ICE is the new, gigantic outrage of the day, and therefore everyone must speak out. They have decided this is their new civil rights moment.

The Democratic base is constantly in search of an animating principle, and the animating principle is supposed to be a pale knockoff of the civil rights movement of the 60s. They’ve done it with gay rights, transgenderism, and now with illegal immigration.”-Ben Shapiro

Shapiro argues that the collective left, in their performative outrage, is always looking for their Selma Bridge Moment. They are likening the “peaceful protestors” to those that experienced true oppression back in the day:

They’re always looking for their chance to do a Selma bridge moment. The problem for them is that those moments are rare because — thank God in America — that sort of stuff has been outré for half a century.”-Ben Shapiro

Let’s be clear. The WHITE woman blocking a whole city block and honking her horn was NOT oppressed. The WHITE man, kicking vehicles and spitting at others doing their job, was also NOT oppressed. The ICE agents trying to get gang members and pedophiles and drug dealers off our streets are NOT the oppressors. But the clueless performers of our time, behind their protective gated communities, would like Americans to think otherwise. Here are some of the greats of performative politics.

Katy Perry

Couldn’t Jeff Bezos have sent her and his wife up to space in the gigantic penis rocket FOR GOOD? Perry, who just came off a disaster of a tour, a break-up with her baby daddy, Orlando Bloom, and who is now dating former Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has this to say on her Instagram:

Who: You, the power is in your hands. What: Call your senators. When: Now. We have until Friday, January 30th to block $10 billion (on top of the $75b that’s already been funded) from going through to ICE.” -Katy Perry

Face it, between her and Arabian Nights Justin, the two are lucky to maybe share a brain.

Macklemore

I know. WHO? Seattle rapper who made millions has taken to his Instagram to sound off:

Lately it’s become impossible to ignore.

Gaza and Minneapolis are not separate stories. They operate through the same machinery that treats people as disposable and calls it order. Different places, the same architecture of harm. Property protected, always stolen. Profit prioritized. Violence justified.

History has been clear about how systems like this change. They don’t shift because they’re persuaded or shamed. They shift when the oppressor is exposed and people stop cooperating. When labor is withheld. When money is no longer guaranteed. When everyday people decide they can’t keep feeding what is killing them.

Capitalism responds to pressure, not conscience.”-Macklemore

I know, right? But check out the big brain on this performative clown. Allow me to borrow from Macklemore-different issues-the same architecture of harm, yo. Straight out of the Democrat’s playbook. Straight out of one of Barack Obama’s favorite books, Rules for Radicals.

In truth, this special moron probably has no idea who Saul Alinsky is.

Every socialist or communist movement starts the same way. Divide the population. Undermine trust. Attack institutions. Mock tradition. Rewrite language. Then centralize power in the name of fairness.”-Andrea Wex

Personally, I don’t think the white guy who made millions has the mental capacity to understand the complexities of Rules for Radicals. No one can’t hold him down, though. He had his moment back in 2014. But he still wants it. The ceiling can’t hold him. He wants people to not work, kids to skip school and NO SHOPPING trips tomorrow-in protest. Hey, remember when someone broke into his house?

Don’t worry, Ben. Us poor, hard-working schmucks will go to work for your buddies to don their lobster suits and go a protest in the streets of Seattle tomorrow. And if the kids stay home tomorrow from Seattle public schools? Well, they might just LEARN something for a change!

Natalie Portman

I could not be prouder to be American right now by the way the Americans are acting. And I could not be sadder to be American right now with the way the government is behaving.”-Natalie Portman

Sniff, sniff…

(Facepalm) sHe WeNt To HaRvArD. sHe Is SmArT.

Portman’s performative overture follows her back to her home in PARIS.

Last I checked, Portman has been living in Paris with her children since she moved there in 2014. She even chose to stay there after she and her husband — who had taken a position with the Paris Opera Ballet — got divorced in 2024.”-Ben Shapiro

Billie Eilish (in all caps)

ICE IS A FEDERALLY FUNDED AND SUPPORTED TERRORIST GROUP UNDER THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY THAT HAS DONE NOTHING TO MAKE OUR STREETS SAFER.”-Billie Eilish

These are just a handful of the circus that make up the pretend world of American entertainment circles. The Grammys are coming up this weekend and the Oscars follow in March. Be looking for the virtue-signaling of the severely mentally ill and out-of-touch. The performative jesters in their haute couture. Unfortunately, for us, they do have some pull:

The musings of actors mean very little, but they do mean a lot in Democratic upper-echelon circles. When the celebrity class speaks with one voice, the people who tend to listen are the people they go to cocktail parties with: Democratic front-runners. That could be people like Wes Moore in Maryland, or Josh Shapiro in Pennsylvania, or Gavin Newsom in California.”-Ben Shapiro

Keep this in mind as the performative prima donnas hop on board their private jets, dine on gourme tofu steaks and walk the red carpet flanked by their security. THEY will never feel the pain of a mother who lost her child who went for a jog in the park. May they never find out that one of their loved ones was found decapitated in a storage container full of bleach. May their loved ones never get killed by a drunk driver. And, celeb ladies? May your sons never get killed protecting you from a rape of a mad man.

Katie? Ben? Natalie? Billie? I challenge you all to say their names OUT LOUD before you bloviate on that stage or your social media platform of choice. Laken Riley. Megan Bos. Maria and Dayanara Pleitez. Luis Jocsan Nanez Lopez. And if you can’t, or won’t, respectfully, shut the hell up.
