According to the New York Times, Obama seeks to reassure the nation after the the shooting in San Bernardino, California this week. Why the Oval Office and not the East Room that Obama prefers? Well, according to the New York Times article:

The choice of the Oval Office as the location for the address to the nation was partly the result of holiday happenstance: The rest of the White House is decorated for the many parties that Mr. Obama will be hosting this week for his staff, members of Congress, journalists and others.

But the decision also reflects the gravity of a subject that has come to define Mr. Obama’s presidency, especially in his second term: how to reassure Americans of their safety even as the United States faces an increasingly aggressive terrorist foe.

We live in very serious times. We have enemies all around us and within our country, we have crushing debt, we have a shrinking military and a growing dependent class and we have a very unserious man as our President. He prefers golfing to presidenting. Being President gets in the way of his golf. He trots out phrases like “Let me be clear” because he has no intellectual depth and isn’t clear. Here are a few shopworn, overused, favorite BHO phrases.

  • It is a pity I don’t drink anymore. The only thing missing on the bingo card is a square for blaming (pick one or more of the following) George Bush, Republicans, the Iraq War, global warming, and Islamophobia.

  • Penny says:

Thank God it was only 13 minutes long. Afterwards, my husband, who is a “live & let live” type, who didn’t realize he was marrying a Conservative firebrand some 48 years ago, asked what I thought of the speech. My response was SS/DD, period. Hey, he still has a liberal streak, but he watches, and enjoys, FOXNEWS with me now.

  • OC says:

The real reason for giving the speech from the Oval Office?
He didn’t want to offend his Muslim buddies with all the CHRISTMAS decorations.
