Noem Out, But Schumer And Democrats Still Plan To Block DHS Funding

It seems that most Democrats and the GOP are happy that Kristi Noem is now out at DHS, and that Senator Markwayne Mullin is now slated to be the next Homeland Security Secretary. But Schumer and Democrats still plan to block DHS funding.

Republican senators celebrated President Trump’s decision to replace Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem with Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.).

Why it matters: Congressional Republicans — along with the White House — are eager to turn the page on a department that’s dragging down the party’s image on immigration, the very issue it rode to victory in 2024.
Trump wasn’t a “happy cowboy” about Noem and her $200 million media campaign, Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) said. Many Senate Republicans were just as angry as the president and were already preparing Thursday afternoon for a fast confirmation process for Mullin.
Mullin is “pretty well vetted around here, so hopefully we can get the process going because I think that’s a position that’s going to need to be filled quickly,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said.

While Democrats admit that Mullin’s confirmation is essentially a done deal, they still won’t budge on funding any DHS operations.

State of play: Democrats, while declaring good riddance to Noem, insisted that a change at the top would not unlock funding for DHS, which has been shut down since Feb. 14.

“No one person can straighten this up until the president changes the whole agency,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). “This is not an issue of personnel. This is an issue of policy.”

“I’m not going to vote for $1 more for that agency as long as they are body-slamming American citizens, barging into American homes without warrants or murdering Americans,” Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) said.

Still, Booker acknowledged that Mullin’s confirmation is likely a foregone conclusion.

Let me stop right there and point something out to Chucky. He’s not operating on an “issue of policy.” Oh hell no. He’s operating on trying to make sure that DHS operations with ICE cannot happen so all those illegal alien criminals who murder people can still waltz around scot free.

I have no words.

By keeping the door shut on funding DHS – which means ICE, TSA, Border Patrol, and more… illegals, some of whom are terrorists, will continue to fly under the radar ..to the detriment of our national security!

But Chucky doesn’t care about our national security when it comes to illegal immigration. That’s pretty obvious with his assertion that he’ll still block DHS funding. Oh, and he’s a no vote on Mullin. Behold my shocked face.

What many don’t realize is that the Democrats were planning to vote no purely out of spite because of Kristi Noem. I’ll say this… her testimony this week was pretty much the last straw for everyone, especially President Trump.

That said, putting our national security at risk by refusing to fund DHS because reasons and political posturing is totally the Democrat brand.

They may like Markwayne Mullin, but because he’ll be even better than Noem as DHS Secretary, they’ll vote no out of pure spite. I’m waiting for some Democrat Senator to shrilly proclaim during the confirmation hearing that Mullin isn’t qualified because he didn’t graduate from college!

There are a vast majority of Democrats who have zero real-life business and work experience, while Markwayne Mullin has it in spades.

As a kid from Westville, it has been the greatest honor and privilege to serve the people of Oklahoma for the past thirteen years in both the House and Senate. I am grateful to President Trump for nominating me to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. I look forward to earning the support of my colleagues in the Senate and carrying out President Trump’s mission alongside the department’s many capable agencies and the thousands of patriots who keep us safe every day. President Trump ran on restoring law and order, and he quickly delivered the most secure U.S. border in American history. I look forward to supporting @POTUS’ mission to safeguard the American people and defend the homeland.

What’s also interesting is this. As the Democrats are yelling about their NO vote on Mullin and happily voting no to DHS funding, at least three of them are and will be on the hot seat for bringing an illegal to the State of the Union.

Now do Schumer and Hickenlooper.

Kristi Noem, in my opinion, was never the right person for the job. And she made some huge mistakes along the way.

But if Democrats think Markwayne Mullin will be malleable, have they met him??

Mr. Mullin has been a staunch defender of the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign, one of the president’s signature campaign promises that he would have to carry out if he takes over the Homeland Security Department.

He has criticized Democratic-run cities and states for refusing to cooperate with federal immigration officials. He has voiced support for building the border wall and passing legislation that would require Americans to show proof of citizenship when registering to vote.

The more that Democrats pander to illegal alien criminals instead of protecting Americans, the worse it will be for them both in the polls and by election day.

By continuing to block DHS funding, even as Mullin comes in and Noem is out, Democrats show their true colors… and they aren’t Red, White, and Blue.

If they get enough illegals to fraud the vote, they don’t care.

We’re at war with Iran. Iran may have terrorist sleeper cells who illegally entered this country. But Democrats wand to defund the Department of Homeland Security..That’s a heck of a campaign issue to run on.
