The 116th Congress gaveled into session yesterday and it’s already a circus of epic proportions. We have Muslims taking the oath using Jefferson’s Quran, several immediately proposing impeachment against Trump for imaginary issues, tantrums about the border wall, and then there’s Nancy. Nancy Pelosi has now declared that our Constitution has deemed that SHE is equal to the President.
Asked if she considers herself Mr. Trump’s equal, she replied, “The Constitution does.” She frowned at the memory of a dinner at the White House last year when men talked over her, and she asked, “Doesn’t anybody listen to a woman in the room?”
“Hopefully that will become a thing of the past now that we have so many women in Congress — and with the gavel,” Ms. Pelosi said. “The gavel makes a big difference.”
Of course, tons of people who don’t care, don’t know, or have willfully forgotten what our Constitution ACTUALLY says were leaping for joy over her statement.

No dumbass, Trump isn’t the boss of Congress. What you fail to understand is that San Fran Nan is also NOT the boss of Trump!
Per our Constitution, San Fran Nan is SECOND in line for the Presidency. If something happens to Trump, Vice President Pence is next in line. HOWEVER, that succession process in no way shape or form makes Nancy EQUAL to the President. There is absolutely NOTHING in our Constitution that gives her that right or privilege. There are three branches of government. Congress, Executive, and Supreme Court. Nowhere in our Constitution does it state that the Speaker of the House is equal to the President.
The absolute gall of her claiming as such is damaging to us all. First of all, there are far too many millennials, including a few who just got elected to Congress, who have NO clue that what she is touting is wrong on every level.
Secondly, this woman who absolutely considers the gavel as her PRECIOUSSSSSSSS, is the same damned woman who shoved Obamacare onto us all without allowing the House time to review and vote on it.
This is the same woman who has said absolutely NOTHING about Coporal Ronil Singh and instead touts protecting our borders while allowing free reign to illegal immigration.
The same woman who will continue the government shut down because she doesn’t want a wall/border of any kind. The same woman who still thinks Syria’s Assad is best thing since sliced bread.
At least now we can better understand why Pelosi negotiated with Bashar al-Assad. Readers may recall that during the Bush presidency she defied the State Department and visited Assad, declaring that “the road to peace is through Damascus.”
That was half a million Syrian deaths and five million Syrian refugees ago
But sure! Let’s talk about how Nancy thinks she’s equal to the President. Goodness, she even said so in her speech yesterday.
They called upon the beauty of our Constitution: our system of checks and balances that protects our democracy, remembering that the legislative branch is Article I: the first branch of government, co-equal to the president and judiciary.
Nancy dear, that doesn’t make YOU equal to the President.

Yet, Nancy thinks she has ALL the power because the House voted to end the shut down …without border funding. However, funding for overseas abortions is A freaking OK?
One of her first acts will be an attempt to repeal what was once called the Mexico City policy, a directive prohibiting the Department of State from funding nongovernmental organizations that “perform or actively promote abortion as a method of family planning.” She quietly slipped the repeal into a bill to end the shutdown
This shows exactly what kind of speaker Pelosi will be. When President Trump negotiates with Pelosi, he will be sparring with a shrewd negotiator and a champion of the abortion industry.
This is where we are folks. Nancy Pelosi is a loose cannon on multiple levels. She’s dangerous to this Republic, and the fact that she believes that SHE is equal to the Presidency should send alarm bells ringing.
She needs to be watched very very carefully.

That’s thoroughly irrelevant (unless she plans on assassinating the President and Vice-).
What’s relevant is that Congress – the House of Representatives and the Senate – is equal to the President.
And yet, not. Because Congress has its lane, and the President has his lane, and the Courts have their lane. They cross over in certain parts (like passing and signing legislation – it’s a joint effort, normally), but there are definite lanes.

The scary part is that her grasping for power is so obvious, yet her constituents still keep voting her in (and her fellow Democrats, as concerns the Speakership). A people truly interested in freedom would balk at even letting her run free, much less having the reins of gov’t.

Ummm, I would say “lying, duplicitous, hypocritical authoritarian” rather than “shrewd negotiator”.

And untrue, actually. Sorry Nina, but the Constitution only states that the Vice President will take over if the President is unable to perform his duties. Everything else about presidential succession comes from the Presidential Succession Act of 1947, last revised in 2006 (such acts had also been enacted in 1792 and 1886, superceded by the 1947 act). Incidentally, the constitutionality of all these presidential succession acts has been challenged over the years, although since none of them have ever been acted upon having them declared unconstitutional by the courts hasn’t been something anyone was greatly concerned about.
GWB says: While you are correct about the Constitution and the legislation, any challenge you mention to the constitutionality of the succession law would have to face the fact that the amendments specifically state that Congress is supposed to figure that out. Any constitutional challenge would have a pretty high bar to clear.
I support reading, math, economics, and civics tests to qualify voters. The bar should be higher to occupy elected office. These people are ignorant. If voters and journalists were responsible, they would be laughed off the national stage. Dan Quayle was mocked into obscurity for misspelling potato. Time to stop being polite and not pointing out the elephant in the room.

Blurring the line between what the Constitution clearly says and what they want it to say is is a primary tactic in suborning the republican form of government on which United States is founded into a democratic form. The “why” of this is nowhere more obvious that in the 2016 Presidential election.
Without the Electoral College, a key component in the founders plan for continuing the American Experiment, the voters of two states would have controlled the election result. In future elections, should there be no Electoral College, a candidate would only have to carry 4 or maybe 5 states to win the Presidency. What happens, then, to the other 45 or 46? They will be excluded from the political discourse of the nation.
This “tyranny of the majority” is one of the primary reasons the founders chose a republican form of government and enshrined the means of retaining that form in the Constitution.
The goals of the left, and I have come to believe a majority of the left and not a radical fringe, is to undermine, minimize, adjudicate and outright disregard the Constitution because it stands in the way of what they see as their rightful and perpetual ownership of the government.

jorod says: The democratic arguments and divisive actions make the US look weak to Putin and China. Pelosi is tearing down our security as well as our laws. $5 billion for a fence is a lot cheaper than hundreds of billions to care for millions of illegal aliens from Central America. As a taxpayer, the fence is a bargain.
