Zohran Mamdani had a no-good, very bad week. According to reports, he isn’t coping well when that happens.

Recently, the Lord Mayor was snubbed at the funeral of a fallen soldier, where he was made to sit through a very Christian service and didn’t get his moment to shine. Well, that was tame compared to what Mamdani got on Staten Island last Tuesday night, where he was booed right off the stage and made a quick exit.

Despite his permanent Joker-like grin and snake oil salesman persona, it seems the Lord Mayor really hates being heckled and criticized. And the cracks in Team Mamdani are starting to show, as “sources” are beginning to spill the proverbial tea.

Behind the scenes, Hizzoner huffily badgers critics who dare question him publicly, harbors petty grudges against prominent pols and often only responds to texts when he’s miffed about bad press, according to interviews with more than a dozen elected officials, consultants and other politicos.

“I see more and more he cannot handle criticism, but mainly from elected officials who he thinks he can push around,” one political consultant said.

“The mayor personally reaches out when electeds criticizes him publicly. If they speak, then he cares. He cares because he doesn’t want bad press. It shows a sensitivity.”

Protecting the DSA movement’s burgeoning political power appears to be the source of much Mamdani touchiness, insiders said.

Another Democratic operative said Mamdani is “tough on staff,” often holding late-night meetings in Gracie Mansion with his DSA comrades.

“He’s the first DSA (mayor) so they have to show he can manage the city, and any time someone puts a dent in that it hurts their cause,” a government insider said.

But sources revealed that Mamdani also obsesses over even the potential for bad media coverage, such as when Queens Borough President Donovan Richards in July slammed the DSA as “white supremacy” in an X post.

Sources said Mamdani tried to nip a negative story in the bud by having a staffer reach out to Richards’ office to take down the post. Richards left the post up, leading to a Post story highlighting the rift between Mamdani’s largely lily-white DSA comrades and minority lawmakers such as the borough president.

“He’s so thin-skinned and reads everything,” one City Council member said.

“His security blanket is his phone and the dopamine from how many likes he gets on a post,” a Democratic operative scoffed. “Seems to keep him going.”

Which means that every time a big government program like his city-run grocery stores gets negative press, he is ingesting it. And when his hypocrisy is pointed out, he’s hearing about it from social media. Mamdani announced this week that his administration is issuing “cease and desist” orders against online retailers for selling e-bikes. He says these are “dangerous devices.” So… why did he stop enforcing traffic laws involving them?

Typical Mamdani – punish the retailer, the “big business,” and decriminalize the unsafe use of said “dangerous device.” Yeah, city management is going just GREAT.

And then there’s his precious pied-à-terre tax. He’s now being sued over the botched rollout.

A trio of Big Apple homeowners has filed suit to delay the state’s controversial new tax on luxury second homes — claiming Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration bungled the rollout and unfairly put the burden on homeowners.

The disgruntled owners charge that City Hall is unfairly burdening them by forcing them to prove they are full-time New Yorkers if they do not want to pay the pied-à-terre tax, according to the suit filed Friday in Staten Island Supreme Court.

The city Department of Finance “has arbitrarily and capriciously foisted onto New York City residents the burden of proving they are not subject to the Surcharge,” the filing states.

It also calls out the DOF’s move to publish a tax roll of nearly 1 million properties that may be subject to the new surcharge and the 17,000 notices it mailed to homeowners warning them they would be hit with five-figure bills unless they file for an exemption.

One of the plaintiffs, Mamdani-supporting Manhattanite Simon Hedley, told The Post he doesn’t take issue with the law itself – but opposes how the city is distributing the “threatening” notices.

Hedley, whose sole home is in Chelsea, has no idea how he ended up on Hizzoner’s list and said the onus to prove residency should be on the city.

Mamdani is named in this lawsuit, which surely is not improving his mood this weekend. But the Lord Mayor wasn’t done with his bad week. He attended a security briefing regarding the National Dominican Republic Day Parade, which will take place this Sunday. Also in attendance and speaking at the briefing was the police commissioner, Jessica Tisch, and Congressman Adriano Espaillat. Espaillat has exactly zero love or respect for Mamdani, as he was just primaried out of his Congressional seat by the Mamdani-endorsed DSA radical, Darializa Avila Chevalier. And it was… AWKWARD.

Espaillat — who lost the Democratic primary last month after Mamdani backed his far-left challenger — snubbed the mayor while taking the podium at an NYPD security briefing about the National Dominican Republic Day Parade.

“Thank you, commissioner,” Espaillat said, warmly acknowledging Tisch, who was spotted putting her hand on his shoulder and exchanging a look with the outgoing congressman before the news conference started.

“And thank you to the New York City Police Department. Chief Ramolez, Chief Rivera. I know them both, and I know the great work that they did both in Northern Manhattan and the Bronx,” Espaillat said — while failing to mention Mamdani.

Mamdani’s side-eye expression says a lot, doesn’t it? That’s the real mayor in that picture, not the fake grinning mask that he usually presents. He knew exactly what Espaillat was doing, and like the funeral service, he couldn’t do a damn thing about being openly slighted – and if we believe the sources that say he is “thin-skinned,” it was eating him alive.

And then, the cherry on top of it all. Remember how Mamdani was booed off the stage on Staten Island? Well, during that event, one of the protesters, Scott LoBaido, had a heart attack (as Victory Girl Toni noted here). Well, a cardiac event and open-heart surgery wasn’t going to keep LoBaido from getting his message across to Zohran Mamdani. The mayor ended his Friday with this note streaming across the sky in New York City.

Methinks the Lord Mayor will be fuming about this for a while. And I’m sure he’s REALLY going to enjoy the parade on Sunday, especially if he gets booed again.
