The new song and video “Try That In A Small Town” by Jason Aldean has liberals melting down. It’s a toss up as to whether they dislike the lyrics or the video more.
The song was released on the airwaves in May. The video was released just a few days ago. The video got everyone’s attention as did the lyrics and the meltdown commenced.
Let’s take a gander at these problematic lyrics.
Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk
Carjack an old lady at a red light
Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store
Ya think it’s cool, well, act a fool if ya likeCuss out a cop, spit in his face
Stomp on the flag and light it up
Yeah, ya think you’re toughWell, try that in a small town
See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own
You cross that line, it won’t take long
For you to find out, I recommend you don’t
Try that in a small town
How many people in cities across the country have been sucker punched, and the perps go free? A notable case was that of actor Rick Moranis, who was attacked three years ago. And attacks like that continue to happen with little to no consequences for the criminal. Add in the issues of car jackings and attacks on bodega owners and employees, isn’t it understandable that many in small towns and yes, even big cities are longing for the days when people helped out their own? Isn’t it understandable that people are also not only longing for but WANTING consequences imposed on criminals instead of minor slaps on the wrist?
Oh, but the liberals don’t want that! Nope, let’s coddle the criminals and shame those who expect better. Let’s shame those small town values in favor of progressive mandates that are causing crime to skyrocket and businesses to flee those cities? Yes, I’m looking at San Francisco, New York, Portland, and others.
Yet the video is what really lit the liberals hair on fire. How DARE Jason Aldean use real footage of the riots that caused billions in damage. How DARE he sing about consequences for people stepping out of line!
The first time I saw the video was two days ago. It, in my opinion, was spot on. We are seeing cities and towns get destroyed by progressive politics with liberals cheering them on and donating to bail funds – Hi Kamala! That is what I believe is part of the lament in Aldean’s song.
Once liberals saw the video and then the lyrics, the knives came out. Liberals such as Sheryl Crow called the song “lame.” Gun-grabber Shannon Watts is gleeful that people are mad about it. CMT, which is definitely a more liberal than country television network yanked the video from their rotation. Others are now claiming Aldean is advocating for lynching because the courthouse he is singing in front of once held a lynching there…in 1927.
Aldean stands in front of an American flag draped over the Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, Tennessee, which is where the 1946 Columbia race riot unfolded.
The conflict almost led to the lynching of Thurgood Marshall, the first black Supreme Court justice.
The city was also the backdrop for the lynching of 18-year-old Henry Choate in 1927.
Variety called Aldean’s tune “the most contemptible country song of the decade,” while social media users lambasted him as “a racist who writes barely concealed lynching songs” and a “violent bigot.”
So, because of the setting, that makes Jason Aldean an advocate for lynching?? That is one helluva stretch guys. But the liberals ran down that path with all the scissors.
In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.…

Read his entire statement.
Do small towns have problems? Yes they do. I grew up in a small town, population 3500. It definitely did and does have its share of crime, family dysfunction, drugs, and even racism. Yet it’s also a town and county that, when it’s needed, people drop everything to go help one another. Furthermore, it’s small towns like the one I grew up in that would be among the first to put the kibosh on anyone trying to riot and/or set buildings and businesses on fire.
Liberal policies are detrimental to the very fabric of this country. We saw that in spades as Democrats and the media attempted to convince us those “fiery but mostly peaceful” riots were necessary.
As Tennessee lawmakers, we have an obligation to condemn Jason Aldean’s heinous song calling for racist violence. What a shameful vision of gun extremism and vigilantism. We will continue to call for common sense gun laws, that protect ALL our children and communities.

Except that gun-grabbers like Jones and Shannon Watts WANT the government to seize that gun a grandfather gifted to his grandson! They’ve been shrilly advocating for that for years now. As for vigilantism, REALLY? Where? What I see is someone singing about wanting consequences for criminals and right now that’s more likely to happen in a small town than in the liberal cities.
More importantly, liberals want this song canceled because they don’t like the lyrics.
…Putting aside CMT's effort to become the BudLight of networks, the decision to yield to the intense cancel campaign is an abandonment of principles of artistic freedom and free speech.

I sure as hell don’t like rap songs that are overtly sexual and glorify violence – including lynching. But I’m not running a cancel mob against them. But it’s totally fine to run a cancel mob against Jason Aldean’s song “Try That In A Small Town” because REASONS.
Nope, I’m not playing their game anymore and I hope you don’t either.

As for vigilantism, REALLY? Where?
Only place where I’ll disagree with you. It’s a clear call for vigilantism.
But why is vigilantism considered bad?! It’s the people doing what the people (especially in a “democratic” society!) are supposed to be doing! It’s the job of the people themselves to keep the peace. Cops are only hired by those citizens to do it full-time so we can get on with other pursuits. It’s our responsibility.
The only reason “vigilantism” became “bad” is because we listened to the progressives and let them warp the culture so they could put “experts” and “professionals” in charge. And look where that got us.
Now, I think modern country is not very much country any more, at all. It’s mostly pop with a twang – all about partying and sex. It’s not about why you’re a drunk with a loused up life, but about how great it is to be one.
But, I think Hank Williams – if he were alive in our day, seeing what we see – would gladly sing this song.
Re. GWB vigilantism is only allowed when ANTIFA or BLM, or others of their ilk, are the vigilantes keeping us racists, homophobes or alphabet soup gender haters in line. By any means necessary is their mantra.
It’s so cute how the little dears think The Streisand Effect isn’t a thing.
BTW, Aldean is not as conservative as some might surmise. He has spouted off in advocacy of gun control before, saying our NICS checks aren’t enough. (This is evidently an idiot who doesn’t understand computers – he says they’re too fast to be “thorough” – nor how NICS checks work.) So don’t turn him into too much of a plaster saint.
“Nope, let’s coddle the criminals and shame those who expect better.”.. It’s not really about coddling the criminals, as much as it is using the criminals to terrify the populace into ceding their rights to the government, and giving them the power they so desire, until their dreams of a totalitarian state comes true.
It’s a tactic advocated by Alinski, and utilized by every regime in the last century, from Stalin to Hitler, Mao, and the Khmer Rouge… As the saying goes, we’ve seen this movie, and it does not end well…
