There is no longer any doubt — MSNBC is officially onboard the Crazy Train.
Host Lawrence O’Donnell cooked up a “Wag the Dog” conspiracy theory to explain Trump’s attack on Syria.
He tweeted this gem on Friday morning:
Oh, but he’s only speculating, you see. Uh huh.
Later he appeared on MSNBC to flesh out a bat guano theory which would make Alex Jones drool with envy for its creativity. After the monologue, fellow lefty David Corn of Mother Jones joined in on a panel to discuss the conspiracy, along with Indira Lakshmanan of the Boston Globe. What made this discussion particularly regrettable was the addition of a Republican, strategist Rick Wilson, who also engaged in O’Donnell’s cock-and-bull story. Then again, Wilson has also said that Trump is Putin’s fanboy, so it’s not a real shocker.

Did Loony Larry really cook up this claptrap on his own? Or did he have a little inspiration?
Look no further than the bottom-feeders of the internet.
First of all, check out what the Daily Mail’s Louise Mensch tweeted right after the attacks. In case you’re curious, Mensch claims that Trump has committed treason and will go to prison.
Now check out this cartoon by Mike Luckovich of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
And then there’s the left wing fever swamp that is the Daily Kos:
Or just as well, could this be an Assad-Putin-Trump pact to force a U.S. action that gives a semblance of a rift between Trump and Putin? An expensive U.S. attack that destroyed nothing of substantial value, runaways, air defense, etc., is probative. It is clear that Trump likely established communication backchannels with Putin.
The Daily Kos has no proof, of course, but it fits their Trump-Is-the-Devil narrative, so it’s all good.
May I remind these blithering idiots just which president tried to cook up a cozy little pact with Putin?
But of course, that was their god-king who promised them that he would care for the sick and and end wars and heal the planet. So there’s no curiosity on that bit of blatant hobnobbing with the Russians. Not even a smidgen.
Meanwhile, Loony Lawrence O’Donnell and his cohorts at MSNBC still haven’t accepted Trump’s place in the White House. As a result their journalistic standards — if they ever had any — continue to sink deeper into the muck of sheer hatred and vengeance against Trump. I have a feeling they still haven’t hit bottom.
He’s merely thinking like a Democrat, because it’s the sort of thing a Democrat would do. Pres. Clinton fired cruise missiles at a pharmaceutical plant in Sudan to divert attention from Lewinski’s testimony before Congress. So, to a Dem operative with a TV “news” show, the idea isn’t far fetched.
Great point.
TW
It’s called “projection”.
I will wait for Lena Dunham’s take on this before I decide what to think about it. If Lena gives a thumbs up I’ll roll out the tinfoil.
“It is clear that Trump likely…”
Clearly. Obviously.
Mensch claims
I will say that her second tweet isn’t implausible. I can entirely believe Putin would throw Asshat Assad under the bus to achieve some grand scheme. But, for Putin to collude with Trump to achieve that? Oy vey.
Now, if you want to really go to Tinfoil Hat Land, imagine this:
It wasn’t Trump they colluded with, but someone(s) in the intel arena, who made sure Trump saw just the right intelligence to make the “correct” decision. See, that maintains the collusion aspect, but adds in the wrinkle of the Deep State. Now, that’s a Conspiracy Theory.
