It is rare to see journalistic malpractice at this level be so blatant and obvious. Clearly, the Los Angeles Times feels they have no need to hide their racism.

The LA Times is quite clearly in the tank for Governor Gavin Newsom in the California recall. I don’t think anyone is surprised by that. What is deeply ugly, and yes, shocking, is their open racism against Larry Elder. Elder’s crime, of course, is being conservative while black. This means that the LA Times can publish editorials about him being the “black face of white supremacy” and ignore an attack that would have been front-page news against a black Democrat.

The LA Times gave it a short article, but not nearly the attention it would have been for a Democrat, and we all know that.

Elder — who had arrived in his new “Recall Express” campaign bus shortly after casting his ballot at a voting center across town — spent roughly 12 minutes in the neighborhood, with his departure hastened by what appeared to be an egg thrown in his direction.”

“It kind of glanced his head,” an Elder campaign staffer said of the object.”

Moments later, the woman took a swing at a man who appeared to be part of Elder’s team. The man was hit by at least one other heckler just before Elder was escorted into the Suburban.”

Swap out the name Larry Elder with Barack Obama, and the media would absolutely go nuclear. The meltdowns from one coast to another would be EXTREME. But really, it wouldn’t even have to be a national name like Obama. Take any black Democrat at the local level and substitute it in. This is the same media that blew the Covington Catholic non-story into a “hate crime” of such mammoth proportions that they ended up settling with Nicholas Sandmann out of court.

The LAPD is now investigating the egg assault, which led to another LA Times article. This time, the piece acknowledges the gorilla mask as a “racist trope.”

No charges have yet been filed, but the department’s Robbery-Homicide Division is looking into the incident, according to LAPD Officer Lizeth Lomeli. Lomeli said the case had been assigned to that unit “because it’s high-profile.”

The article itself, as written, is fine. The problem lies with the way the editors of the LA Times decided to headline the story – and the photo they used.

This is not an accident. This is intentional. That picture was used both on Twitter AND on the LA Times website. After leaving it up for almost a day, the photo was then changed.

Honest people can see this headline and photo for what it is, along with the underplaying of an assault that would have been front page news if it had happened to a Democrat instead of a Republican. However, those honest people clearly don’t have jobs at the LA Times. Larry Elder might not win the election next week, and that will be California’s loss. But the LA Times has clearly picked sides and decided that racism that furthers their goals is perfectly okay, and then they wonder why they keep losing subscribers. But the LA Times should be applauded for being honest about their racism. What’s left of their subscribers know exactly what they are paying for.
