After the raid a few weeks back, it was only a matter of time. Yesterday afternoon John Bolton was indicted. For mishandling and taking/keeping of classified documents, he faces 18 counts.
The indictment against Mr. Bolton was 18 counts and accused him of using personal email and a messaging app to share more than 1,000 pages of “diary” notes about his day-to-day activities as Mr. Trump’s national security adviser in 2018 and 2019. The notes, which were sent to two family members who did not have security clearances, included national defense information, such as details classified as top secret, according to the indictment.
The indictment against John Bolton is quite interesting. As Carol wrote regarding the raid on Bolton’s home; much of this case stems from the book John Bolton wrote. A book that was supposedly signed off on by people from the State Department and elsewhere. But a judge waived those concerns and allowed “The Room Where It Happened” to be published. Then, once Biden was elected, the investigation was halted by Biden.
Fast forward to August and Bolton’s home is raided with allegations flying that Bolton really did have Top Secret files, had classified information on his AOL email and Google accounts, which led to his AOL account getting hacked by the Iranians. Yesterday’s indictment spells it out.
8 counts of transmission of national defense information
10 counts of retention of national defense information
Guess who he involved in the transmission of classified information? His wife and daughter. According to Bolton’s attorney, that shouldn’t be an issue.
“The underlying facts in this case were investigated and resolved years ago. These charges stem from portions of Amb. Bolton’s personal diaries over his 45-year career – records that are unclassified, shared only with his immediate family, and known to the FBI as far back as 2021,” Lowell wrote. “Like many public officials throughout history, Amb. Bolton kept diaries – that is not a crime. We look forward to proving once again that Amb. Bolton did not unlawfully share or store any information.”
The fact is, if it SAYS it is classified information, you do NOT share it with anyone who doesn’t have a similar clearance! Nor do you walk out the door with those documents! It seems Bolton forgot about that key requirement for having a top line security clearance. Then again, he probably thought he could get away with it like Hillary did. Joe was given a pass because of his addled brain.
Abbe Lowell, of Hunter Biden fame, is obviously going to try to spin this as ‘it was all just part of his diary keeping!’ Uh huh… the indictment spells out that Bolton had classified info dating back to his time with the Clinton Administration! So, it’s looking highly likely that this wasn’t a one-off gotcha thing from his time with the Trump Administration. Nope, it was the Trump, Clinton, AND George Bush Administrations! In other words, a feature not a bug.
BREAKING: The 26-page indictment has just been UNSEALED and it's HUGE! There are 18 FEDERAL COUNTS!

He's been indicted on ESPIONAGE ACT statutes.
HOLY. SHlT. pic.twitter.com/B3o5rSqJ6d
Yes, this indictment is pretty damned serious. Bolton issued the following statement.
“For four decades, I have devoted my life to America’s foreign policy and national security,” Bolton said in a statement. “I would never compromise those goals. I tried to do that during my tenure in the first Trump Administration but resigned when it became impossible to do so. Donald Trump’s retribution against me began then, continued when he tried unsuccessfully to block the publication of my book, The Room Where It Happened, before the 2020 election, and became one of his rallying cries in his re-election campaign. Now, I have become the latest target in weaponizing the Justice Department to charge those he deems to be his enemies with charges that were declined before or distort the facts.”

Then came Trump 2 who embodies what Joseph Stalin’s head of secret police once said, ‘You show me the man, and I’ll show you the crime.’ These charges are not just about his focus on me or my diaries, but his intensive effort to intimidate his opponents, to ensure that he alone determines what is said about his conduct. Dissent and disagreement are foundational to America’s constitutional system, and vitally important to our freedom. I look forward to the fight todefend my lawful conduct and to expose his abuse of power.”
In other words, it was fine when Obama and Biden weaponized the DOJ against people they don’t like. When an indictment is handed down against one who dared to criticize Trump, its Stalinesque!
Remember the raid on Mar-A-Lago? John Bolton had a LOT to say then.
Bolton on mishandling classified info: "This is a serious crime. Devastating indictment. End of Donald Trump's career."

He was just indicted for that pic.twitter.com/atXjXoWFlU
The irony is rich here. Astoundingly, CNN admits this indictment isn’t political! Evidently John Bolton, even with his massive case of TDS, wasn’t fully accepted into the tribe.
Keep in mind that, before someone in the Biden Administration squashed the investigation, it had actually gained momentum.

Bolton's personal email – which contained classified info – was hacked by Iran.
Bolton notified the Gov't of the hack – but did not mention his possession of the classified info/docs. pic.twitter.com/sacZtRK6Kk
So Bolton and his attorneys can spin all they want. This indictment is very serious and John Bolton is in BIG trouble.
