Defund The Police has been a rallying cry for the Left these last few months. However, Joe Biden is now claiming that he doesn’t plan to defund the police.

Trump's charge that he wants to "defund the police," Joe Biden tells @RobinRoberts, "No I don't"—and counters that the Trump administration has proposed cutting a federal program that helps hire more local law enforcement. https://t.co/HOks1fmoGv pic.twitter.com/5XlRrdkjOo

Except that he did.
Now Joe wants us to believe that he doesn’t want police departments to go away. Nope, he is just advocating for plans that move funding away from the police departments, away from federal law enforcement, and corrections/prisons to other entities – such as social workers – who can handle crime better than law enforcement can and without that nasty systemic racism.
In her testimony to Congress a few days ago, law enforcement expert Heather MacDonald repudiated the systemic racism narrative crap.
“Are the police nevertheless engaging in an epidemic of racist violence, as we hear daily? They are not. For the last five years, the police have killed about 1,000 civilians a year, the majority of those victims armed or otherwise dangerous. In 2019, the police killed 235 blacks, most of them also armed or dangerous, out of 1,004 police shooting victims overall. That roughly 25 percent ratio has also remained stable. It is less than what the black crime rate would predict, since police shootings are a function of the rate at which officers encounter armed and violent suspects, a fact confirmed most recently by a 2019 study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. In the 75 largest U.S. counties, which is where most of the population resides, blacks constituted around 60 percent of all robbery and murder defendants, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, even though blacks comprise only 15 percent of the population in those counties.
What about unarmed victims of fatal police shootings? As of June 1, the Washington Post’s data base of fatal police shootings showed nine unarmed black victims and 19 unarmed white victims of fatal police shootings in 2019. That number of black unarmed victims is down 76 percent from 2015, when the Post began keeping its data base. The Post defines “unarmed” loosely to include suspects who have grabbed an officer’s gun or who are fleeing from a car stop with a loaded semi-automatic pistol in their vehicle. Those nine allegedly unarmed black victims represent 0.1 percent of all black homicide victims, which number about 7,500 a year—more than all white and Hispanic homicide victims combined.”
Joe Biden may not have bluntly stated that his Administration, if he ever got elected, would defund the police, but that’s what he will do.
Joe has adopted much of the progressive agenda pushed by The Squad and others who, while at the DNC Convention, were pushing their defund police agenda every chance they got. Watch here.
““Why can’t, why can’t folks imagine a world without the cops?” they asked. “Why can’t folks imagine a world without prisons? Why can’t people expand their imaginations to include community care to include an abolitionist future?”
The panelist then went from imagining all of this to practically demanding it, suggesting they’re not interested in any watered-down proposals from the DNC. “I’m talking about like for real … for abolition, not just watered down DNC version of abolition,” they said. “We’re talking about abolishing the police. We’re talking about abolishing ICE. We’re talking about abolishing prisons.””
The massive increase in crime across Democrat-run cities is causing multiple layers of harm to our society. But sure! Blame the police for the violence you bring to the streets, yeah, that’ll work.
I took a detour through downtown Denver a couple of days ago. Our State Capitol has every window on the first and much of the second floors boarded up. This beautiful building is surrounded by overgrown weeds, has graffiti scars all over, and is beginning to look like it has been abandoned for years. There are now homeless camps all up and down sidewalks surrounding the Capitol and the downtown area. It was a ugly and depressing sight. A sight that will stay around unless our law enforcement is allowed to DO THEIR JOBS and stop the criminals and rioting thugs from running rampant through our cities.
But the Democrat mayors don’t care about that. Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot demands security for her mansion, but security for the rest of Chicago’s citizens? Nuts to ’em! DeBlasio decides to house homeless in hotels while hamstringing police from keeping everyone safe, and Cuomo blasts the NYPD for the crime wave because they haven’t built good reform plans yet.
The morale of police departments around the country is at its lowest it’s ever been.
““The term for the NYPD that is going around in every command in the city is ‘the job is dead.’ You would be crazy to take this job at this day and age,” the officer said.
“When I became a police officer many years ago, I never thought that I would have to put this uniform on and be looked at as the enemy and to be hated,” he said. “And it’s not fair because we sacrifice ourselves every day. No matter what your skin color is, it’s sad. In my tenure here at NYPD I can never ever imagine that it would be this bad, as far as not being supported.””
Our men and women in law enforcement twist themselves into pretzels and stretch themselves thin every damned day in order to try and keep all of us safe. We have a population of three hundred thirty million across the United States. How many are in law enforcement? Less than ONE million.
Defund the police at our peril.

Our men and women in law enforcement deserve and need our support now more than ever. Joe Biden and the Democrat party want law enforcement gone and think the anarchy that would bring about will never affect them. They would be wrong.

Spot on Nina, I avoid Denver like the plague, since Mayor Hancock, and Governor Polis have given in to the mobs (while going full tyrant with masks)… Our once proud red state has become a shithole blue state, headed toward chicago or baltimore status…
Well, honestly, the Dems have never actually wanted to “defund the police.” They just want to take away your police. At least, until you reach a point of screaming for them to return. Then they’ll have snappy new brown uniforms – or maybe black ones. Probably with armbands and sharp shiny boots.
And, of course, while you’re suffering, they will be plenty well-protected by the remaining police. Because they’re important, don’t you know. They have to run things, and can’t be bothered with yelling and rock-throwing and effigy-burning.
Why can’t folks imagine a world without prisons?
I certainly can imagine a world without prisons. In heaven. Otherwise, if there’s humans there will need to be prisons.
Even John Lennon wasn’t daft enough to believe that sh*t once he came down off the drugs.
Joey is not going to defund the police. He has to have someone to enforce his mask mandate.

” …. such as social workers – who can handle crime better than law enforcement can and without that nasty systemic racism.”
I worked in a state welfare department as a specialist in behaviour management for nearly 30 years. The social workers [SWs] with whom I worked would not go near a violent person in a private home without having the Police in close proximity to keep them safe. On many occasions I was asked to sit in on interviews with potentially dangerous clients in our offices. I would sit silently with a smile on my face in a position so that I could dive between the [dangerous] client and the social worker. The SW was always instructed by me to sit closest to the exit door and to leave at the first sign of dangerous behaviour. There is a difference between managing violent behaviour of people who are explosively dangerous and therapeutic treatment, e.g. counseling, a person with social emotional problems, but who is reasonably calm and compliant. It is not possible to give kindly therapeutic treatment to a person trying to attack the therapist in a violent rage, but I have seen many SWs try.
As for systemic racism, whose racism? I have been subject to racism by certain ‘black’ people in the USA.
A further thought about social workers taking the place of Police in managing criminals and their behaviour.
It has become fashionable to ‘medicalise’ volitional behaviour rather than demand that individuals committing heinous acts accept personal responsibility for their own anti-social even criminal behaviour. Increasingly persons committing actions that have long been considered criminal and knowingly performed for illegal advantage are deemed to have done so as a result of some pathology such as a poor educational background or some new psychiatric category invented by specialists in psychology, psychiatry, etc. and listed in DSM V [which is larger than DSM IV which is larger than DSM III, etc.] or because some one else did something to upset them. Thus the door becomes open for groups of medical or para-medical professionals to set up shop ‘curing’ people who were previously known to be criminals who should otherwise be in gaol for their crimes. In short criminals – of the right social group[s] – are excused accountability in Law. Of course people in society who are not of the ‘correct’ victim classes are to be held criminally accountable.
