JFK Assassination Files Still Withheld Because COVID

With the anniversary of the JFK assassination coming up next month, the feds were going to release the remaining classified files on Tuesday. But they won’t. Joe Biden signed a memo on Friday night saying that the release will be “delayed.” Why? Because Covid, of course. The memo said that the national archivist needed more time to review the redacted papers because the pandemic interfered.

That’s about as believable as Covid coming from the Wuhan wet market.

We’re not talking about a small number of files here, either. There are still almost 23,000 records that the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) are still holding, and they make up over 442,000 pages. Biden promised in the memo that an interim batch of files will be released later this year, with a second group dropping in December, 2022. Unless, of course, Covid delays those as well.

Now remember, President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed in Dallas, TX, 58 years ago this November 22. The principle players from this event are dead, including suspect Lee Harvey Oswald. Night club owner Jack Ruby shot him two days after the shooting of the President as detectives were escorting Oswald through the basement of the Dallas Police Headquarters, so the police never obtained any information from him.

Immediately after the JFK assassination, President Lyndon Johnson established the Warren Commission. Headed by Chief Justice Earl Warren, the commission investigated the shooting, and ten months later concluded that Oswald acted alone. End of story, right?

Well, no. Since then conspiracy theories have proliferated, including everything from Castro Did It to LBJ Did It to Oswald Had Brain Implants. And, of course, there’s the perennial theory of the real shooter hiding behind the famous Grassy Knoll.

Recently, a “Dark Journalist” claimed that sinister forces killed JFK because he knew about UFOs and aliens. Yes, really.

Now I don’t think that these conspiracy theories will end if NARA releases the remainder of the JFK files. They have a way of proliferating no matter what proof is provided. But I also wonder why the government continues to hide the files. In 1992, President George H.W. Bush signed the John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Act, which set October, 2021, as the date to release the records. Then, in 2016, Donald Trump promised to release them all if he were elected. He didn’t quite accomplish that, but still released 19,000 in 2018. He held back 14,000 and planned to provide the rest on October 26.

And now they won’t see the light of day after all. Because Covid or something.

Right.

I have long tended to pooh-pooh conspiracy theories. I don’t believe Secret Dark Forces imploded the Twin Towers on 9/11, or that the Sandy Hook school shooting was a false flag. Nor do I believe aliens have anything to do with the Unidentified Aircraft that Tucker Carlson loves to hype. I’m more of an Ockham’s Razor kind of girl.

But I wonder why the Biden administration is dragging their feet in releasing the final JFK files. After all, as I noted above, the major players are gone. We’ve even seen pictures of President Kennedy lying dead in Parkland Hospital, his eyes open and the back of his head blown out. I never expected to ever see those photos.

So what is the problem? Why the secrecy? Did the government have something to do with the assassination after all? Or was Lee Harvey Oswald, the disaffected Communist, really the sole gunman as the Warren Commission concluded? But the federal government has lied to us repeatedly about Covid (looking at you, Dr. Fauci), about the NSA collecting personal data, and they now want to sic the IRS on our bank records. So how can we trust them?

No, it’s not particularly nutty to question why they are so loathe to release the JFK files. There’s something fishy about NARA dragging their feet about releasing the files, and it has nothing to do with any pandemic.
