What an interesting turn of events for Michigan. Prominent Jewish Democrats, some whom are major donors, are now signaling that they’ll back Mike Rogers in the general if “Dr” Abdul El-Sayed wins the primary on August 4th.

Ahead of the upcoming primary election on Aug. 4, Jewish donors spoke with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) about the possibility of El-Sayed, who has been an outspoken critic of Israel, becoming the party’s nominee for the Michigan Senate seat. JTA reported that several prominent Jewish fundraisers have already begun to see Rogers as a “hedge” and are planning to raise funds for him against El-Sayed.

“There are leaders in our Jewish community who are longtime, lifelong Democrats and Democratic fundraisers, who are very concerned with where their party’s going,” Jewish Federations of North America national chair of government relations Dennis Bernard said. “And if this is the case, they’ve made it clear, both financially and with their vote, that they would support Mike Rogers in the event El-Sayed wins the primary.”

That’s quite something isn’t it? Then again, El-Sayed has made his position abundantly clear. He hates everything about Israel with a burning passion. In fact, I’m sure he wishes he would’ve come up with the idea of arresting Netanyahu first instead of Mamdani piping up about it. 

Translation: "I don't want Israel and America to be able to jointly take out my terrorist brethren and hamas soul mates who are doing the most important job in my book: trying to wipe Israel off of the map and kill as many Jews as possible."

That said, El-Sayed’s embrace of Hasan Piker and others of Piker’s ilk has made a lot of people VERY nervous. Including a significant contingent of Jewish Democrats in Michigan. 

Joel Tauber has been through many an election in his 92 years. And, with the exception of “one out of 100 times,” he’s always backed a Democrat — something even more important in the current midterm cycle, he believes.

“Winning the Senate and the House is the beginning of a way back to our democracy,” Tauber, a founding chair of Jewish Federations of North America who has hosted former US president Bill Clinton and other Democratic leaders, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. “It’s really, really important to me.”

But Tauber is a Michigan resident, and the state’s upcoming US Senate primary is making him deeply uneasy. Like many a Jew in the mitten state, he is pulling for pro-Israel centrist US Rep. Haley Stevens to win on August 4.

Tauber has decided he’d refuse to vote for anyone in the general of El-Sayed wins the primary. Meanwhile other Jewish Democrats are literally hedging their bets and planning on doing fundraisers for Republican Mike Rogers during the general. 

El-Sayed’s stances on pretty much every issue are a problem for Michigan. His views are as radical or worse than Mamdani’s. Yes, his virulent stance on Israel is a major red flag, but his stances on taxes, unions, ICE, healthcare, and more are equally problematic. All of which has Jewish Democrats quite nervous. 

Not so Lizzie Warren. Fresh off of her endorsement of the Graham Platner campaign, she has enthusiastically yammered her approval of El-Sayed.

Obviously she’s thrilled with the fact that he plans to tax the rich and embrace all the cool kid talking points about climate change, Medicare for all, anti-ICE, and more. 

Any concerns about his dubious fundraising tactics with ActBlue are totally ignored. 

Elizabeth Waffle, 88, was forced to move into a shabby trailer two years ago after her house burned down. She owns an old pickup truck but no computer.

Nevertheless, Waffle, who lives on a modest pension, is a true believer in liberal causes and continues to make small political donations by way of ActBlue—the Democrat online fundraising platform.

But somehow, those few dozen small donations she has made over the past five years have transmogrified into 14,696 donations totaling more than $150,000—the equivalent of eight donations a day, every day for the past five years, averaging $9.18.

“One hundred and fifty thousand?” Waffle said with real surprise. “Hell no. I don’t have that kind of money.”

Yes, we know. And we all watched as the head of ActBlue spent her entire time in front of Congress pleading the 5th, with zero consequences. 

Are these Democrats concerned about El-Sayed’s questionable fundraising? Possibly. But it’s obvious they are more concerned with his hatred of Israel and subtle embrace of Hamas and terrorism. 

Keep in mind, this is a state that elected Rashida Tlaib. And I would dare say some of those with heartburn over El-Sayed held their nose and donated to and/or voted for her. And now they have regrets. 

What also doesn’t help is that people in Michigan aren’t getting the full story about El-Sayed, with Apple and Google having been found to suppress information about El-Sayed and his very problematic platform.

Essentially Abdul El-Sayed is a Democrat Socialist.

We all know their platform is about changing this entire country and kicking the moderate Democrats to the curb. 

El-Sayed’s polling numbers aren’t looking good right now. Which has led him to do an about face and pander to Michigan’s Jewish community. 

Abdul El-Sayed says he loves and reveres Judaism and the Jewish people.

It sounds like quite a number of Jewish Democrats in Michigan are seeing right through the noise and know El-Sayed is dangerous to them and to Michigan. 

With this, Michigan’s August 4th primary is definitely a must-watch.
