It Was Ratings, Contract, And Ego That Tanked Jimmy Kimmel

The Democrat left is demanding that we believe that it was Trump and MAGA that are to blame for Jimmy Kimmel’s show getting yanked. Nope. It was ratings, an upcoming contract renewal, and his own ego that tanked Jimmy’s show.

Jimmy Kimmel’s future at ABC was up in the air even before his incendiary TV comments, multiple sources told Page Six.

The multi-millionaire late night host had just months left on his deal with Disney, and was set to start negotiations with bigwigs later this year.

However, we’re told that ABC may have been getting ready to push him out after this season.

Sources said the network could’ve used the furore over his outspoken nightly monologues to pull the plug early and avoid another year of Kimmel’s controversial comments.

One insider said that Disney chief Bob Iger, “doesn’t want to be at war with Donald Trump right now, just as he has stabilized Disney… I don’t know what they are planning, but maybe the uproar is so loud Jimmy can’t come back.”

As Deanna wrote yesterday, Jimmy’s remarks about Charlie Kirk didn’t even pass the smell test of humor. What Jimmy refused to acknowledge is that, with Charlie’s assassination, more Americans than he realized woke up.

They are paying attention. And they did NOT like what they saw and heard from Jimmy last Monday night. And they made sure people knew of their displeasure. People as in network affiliates such as Sinclair and Nextstar. Those companies took heed and realized if they didn’t do something, they’d lose viewers and advertisers.

Well, yesterday as noted above, we find out that Jimmy’s upcoming contract renewal was in doubt. Why? For a few reasons.

One: He’s not funny. He’s political

Two: Because he’s more political than funny, the ratings were tanking.

Three: His ego got in his way. BIGLY

An apology for his ham-handed remarks and a donation as requested by Sinclair? NOPE

“Sinclair will not lift the suspension of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ on our stations until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability,” a press release issued on Wednesday reads.

The local TV giant also called for Kimmel himself to “issue a direct apology” to Charlie Kirk’s family, given it was remarks the comedian made about the slain conservative that cost his show to be pulled.

“Furthermore, we ask Mr. Kimmel to make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA,” Sinclair added.

He absolutely refused. You know what that tells me? Kimmel meant every word of what he said. Every. Single. Word.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”

Yes. He meant it. And he won’t apologize for it.

What Jimmy is forgetting is what happened when it became known that his infant son was needing several very serious and dangerous heart surgeries. What did conservatives and Republicans do? Offered support and prayer. Not mockery.

Jimmy’s ego has gotten in the way. And there are others in the entertainment industry who aren’t seeing the forest or the trees on this issue.

Some in Hollywood’s creative community have criticized Disney’s decision to pull Kimmel. Unions for actors and producers issued statements critical of the decision.

Damon Lindelof, a co-creator of the classic ABC drama “Lost,” defended Kimmel on Instagram and said he wouldn’t want to work for the company that has taken the host off the air.

“We all see where this is going, correct? It’s managed media. And it’s no good,” David Letterman, the former late-night host, said at an Atlantic magazine event Thursday.

One Democratic senator accused the Trump administration of censorship, and former President Barack Obama said it had embraced its own version of cancel culture.

That’s rich coming from David Letterman. He is well aware that he would never have said anything like Kimmel did during his show run. Because he didn’t.

Rosie O’Donnell went off the deep end in her rant.

And Keith Olbermann, well…

They’ve all forgotten the lessons from Johnny Carson. Don’t get political. Period.

But Jimmy did.

But it wasn’t ever just about our president. Kimmel’s monologues became a full and unfair demonization of Republicans and anyone else in the growing coalition that voted for Trump for a myriad of reasons.

He mocked people who didn’t want to take the Covid jab, saying they didn’t deserve medical attention. “A vaccinated person having a heart attack, yes, come right in, we’ll take care of you. Unvaccinated guy who gobbled horse goo? Rest in peace, wheezy.”

Kimmel had his chance on Wednesday to apologize for what he said. But he refused to. What he wanted to do, according to sources via the WSJ, was blame MAGA for… ‘twisting his words.’

No dude. We heard you. We know EXACTLY what you said and we know that you meant it.

In the end, it was a business decision. Kimmel was determined to set the brand on fire because of his hatred of Trump. ABC finally grew a spine and said…ENOUGH.

“ Ratings, Contract and Ego” — lack of talent as a comedian probably played a part in, too.

He had a talented partner on The Man Show, and could always call on bouncing “Juggies” to distract the audience. On Jimmy Kimmel Live, it was just him.

    Kimmel ‘n bits

Jimmy Kimmel is just a prick and POS. If my memory is correct a couple years ago his son had an heart operation and he was crying on his show when he told his audience about his son’s operation and how the doctors saved his life.
And now that his son is doing okay, he goes and talks shit and trashes other people with his stupid remarks. If I’m wrong about what I wrote please correct me
