I Was Wrong – They Want War

I Was Wrong – They Want War

I Was Wrong – They Want War

I admit it – I was wrong.

Last week I advised that the best course of action as the left attacks our rights is to keep a civil course, wow them with facts, decency, and knowledge and defend our rights with knowledge, passion, and eloquence.

I felt that we could win based on logic and rational discourse, but having watched the events of this week unfold in front of my eyes, I realize just how wrong I was.

I thought that after engaging with our political opponents en masse, peacefully stating our concerns, and rationally discussing the issues of due process and Second Amendment rights in Richmond, the Democrats would step away from their insane assault on our freedoms.

I was wrong.

Despite concerns which the Democrats admitted to have had about the proposed “red flag law” during discussions with the press and with gun rights advocates, they advanced this appalling legislation the very next day after the massive rally in Richmond, disingenuously claiming that the measure is “thoughtful” and preserves due process. They jammed through other appalling bills, limiting the ability of peaceable Virginians to exercise their rights, without so much as a second thought, claiming that “elections have consequences.”

A Democratic-led House committee voted Friday for several pieces of gun legislation that a Republican majority has blocked for years. Those bills include limiting handgun purchases to once a month; universal background checks on gun purchases; allowing localities to ban guns in public buildings, parks and other areas; and a red flag bill that would allow authorities to temporarily take guns away from anyone deemed to be dangerous to themselves or others.

Based on previous interactions with some of these legislators, I thought they would give consideration to the people whom they represent, even if those people didn’t vote for them or disagree with them politically.

I was wrong.

Virginia Democrats are now in the process of jamming bills down our throats that threatens our First Amendment rights. It’s already illegal to threaten to kill, injure, bomb, etc. government buildings or officials in Virginia, but Senate Bill 1627 goes a step further.

The bar for harassment is already as low as “vulgar language” in Virginia’s code 18.2-152.7:1: If any person, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, or harass any person, shall use a computer or computer network to communicate obscene, vulgar, profane, lewd, lascivious, or indecent language, or make any suggestion or proposal of an obscene nature, or threaten any illegal or immoral act, he shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. Bourne’s bill proposes adding the following amendment: A violation of this section may be prosecuted in the jurisdiction in which the communication was made or received or in the City of Richmond if the person subjected to the act is one of the following officials or employees of the Commonwealth: the Governor, Governor-elect, Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant Governor-elect, Attorney General, or Attorney General-elect, a member or employee of the General Assembly, a justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, or a judge of the Court of Appeals of Virginia.

Bourne’s Bill also changes the language of “he shall be guilty” to “he is guilty” of a Class 1 misdemeanor.

Not only do the twisted, power-hungry politicians in Richmond want to relieve you of your right to keep and bear arms, but they want to criminalize criticism of the very elected officials Virginians put into office!

Let’s remember, boys and girls. These pernicious fucks work for us, but they’re trying to keep themselves in power by silencing detractors and appealing to fetid ignorami.

And if you think this trend is limited to Virginia, you would be wrong too.

The proglodyte sociopaths have a chokehold on the Democrats, so much that they feel they have to pander to their insanity by promising abortions on demand for biological males and paying off billions of dollars in college loans at taxpayer expense, while screwing Americans who have been fiscally responsible with their earnings.

I thought there were sane Democrats left in this country.

I was wrong.

There may be some decent leftists here and there, but the shrieking, perpetually aggrieved progressive parasites have taken over, and they want you silenced and stripped of any dignity and freedoms.

The “Wax My Balls” and “Make My Cake, Bigot” woke fascists want war, and they might just get it.

Antifa is parading around in masks, threatening those who don’t toe the progressive line and even assaulting them.

A field organizer for one of the front runners for the Democratic nomination has recently professed his love for gulags to reeducate his political opponents and squawked that he was ready for the revolution.

I was wrong.

These people won’t listen to reason, and they are determined to destroy us – libertarians, moderate Republicans, hardcore conservatives, and RINOs. They don’t care. They want us gone, and they’re willing to lie, malign, and destroy using any means possible.

Elizabeth Warren is perfectly happy denigrating judges appointed by President Trump as “Homophobic, racist, sexist, and anti-voter.” And Occasional Cortex wants to change the meaning of the word “ethical” to mean giving up your property, autonomy, and freedom, as well as your earnings to those who have accomplished nothing, done nothing with their lives, learned nothing, and earned nothing, so that idiots can steal from you and control you at will.

I thought the Democrats could be reasoned with.

I was wrong.

They don’t want to just have power over you. They want you gone. They want you “re-educated” to toe their ideological line, and they are perfectly willing to use your tax dollars to ensure that your freedom of expression and your BadThink are eradicated – violently, if they have to.

This is a matter of survival – not just for conservatives, but for anyone who values freedom.

This is not just about gun rights, or free speech rights. These people are out in the open, and they want to destroy you – everything you are.

I thought the Democrats wanted the same things for our nation as we do, and we merely disagreed on the best way to accomplish this.

I was wrong.

They don’t care about human rights, as they claim. They care about giving themselves power over you, over your thoughts, over your achievements and earnings. They don’t consider you human.

They want to burn it all down, and they will do whatever is necessary to ensure that happens. OK, let’s see what happens.

They want you gone. Act accordingly.

I realize a few of us disagreed a bit when you were calling for restraint a few days ago, and I appreciate you recognizing that you may have misjudged the situation (that doesn’t mean folk like GWB or I were entirely correct in our assessments). Yet, I don’t think things are quite so dire. There are options beyond fighting fire with fire. Personally, I’m holding out hope that 90-some % of Virginia counties elect to join WV.

I am very happy with seeing gun rights sanctuary counties gaining steam. I think they started with Illinois(?), but the Virginia mess has opened a lot of eyes to how far the line has been walked back. In many ways, they made a strategic overstep and there is newfound hope.

Oh, and Northam represents the antithesis of every principle this great American experiment was built upon. He’s not worth the price of ammo or even the ceremony of a public rope. He’ll get his, or live forever haunted by it.

    • Marta Hernandez says:

I’m happy about the sanctuaries too, but it’s just such a small part of what’s going on! This past week really opened my eyes to what these destructive, tyrannical monsters are.

    • nomen nescio says:

The “sanctuary counties” are a gesture only, just conservative virtue-signaling.

When the National Guard rolls into town in Brads and M113s to escort a BATFE task force in MRAPs to begin the door-to-door gun searches, I anticipate those sheriffs and deputies are going to make themselves scarce, perhaps to complain on social media, or send strongly worded letters to the local newspaper.

And yes, the Left wants a civil war. They’re true believers, they want to destroy the US as a global power so that Russia, China, and Iran can replace us as hegemons, and I have concluded they don’t care if they survive personally.

      • Henry says:

I believe the point is that “reasonable” is just a synonym for “ineffective.”

Gun owners held a massive PEACEFUL demonstration, cleaned up after themselves, went home, and saw the bills they were protesting passed the very next day.

Peaceful demonstrations assume a willingness on the part of the opponent to listen to your concerns. Clearly this condition no longer exists.

To be effective, gun owners must now move beyond cordiality and turn to more confrontational strategies that will cause opponents active pain. And it is moral to do this, because the totalitarians were given the chance to pursue a painless path and spurned it.

  • Skeptic says:

Marta, why in the world would you have ever thought otherwise?

    • Marta Hernandez says:

Look, I’m a veteran. I’ve been deployed to warzones. Violence is the last damn thing I ever want to see – especially violence that tears this nation apart. I wanted every possible, honest, honorable chance to settle this peaceably. But I’m beginning to realize, that’s not what the Democrats want. Period. That’s why.

      • Charles N. Steele says:

Yes, you are exactly right. Violence should be the very last resort. If America has a civil war, China, Russia, and Iran will exploit it. If the United States ever drops its strategic defense, the U.S. is over. And if we were lucky enough to avoid that, the “winners” won’t have any good idea of how to put things back together.

Last resort. You may well be right — the left now wants to purge us. Should they start, then the Second Amendment option.

        • Marta Hernandez says:

I’m not saying I’m going to grab a gun and go liberal hunting or anything. But I am suggesting that they are ready for violence and determined to destroy us, and we need to respond accordingly.

You have no idea how much it pains me to write all this – not because I don’t like being wrong, but because I don’t like being wrong about my adopted nation and its people. I serve because I love this country, and now… I just feel lost.

          • Charles N. Steele says:

You should not feel lost. Difficult times aren’t the same as hopeless times. Reason and justifiable anger and determination are better things to feel. No despair.

And it took you how many decades to realize what the Left is really all about? I’m in my 60’s, my maternal grandfather sat me down when I was 13 years old and explained to me exactly what the media was and always has been. He also laid out in stark terms exactly what the Democrats were. He was born around 1896 or so.

  • Charles N. Steele says:

Perhaps, Marta, but I think you were less wrong than you seem to think. Generally speaking, the Democrat Party has gone to left, and the left is totalitarian. But:

    1. The are democrats (many, I hope) who find what their party is doing to be too much. By appealing to reason, as you counseled, *we* come off as the reasonable ones. That’s extremely important. There’s a battle for the hearts and minds of Americans; we must win.

    2. Mike Vanderboegh, founder of the Three Percenter idea (I won’t call it a movement — Mike was wisely opposed to setting up any sort of organization), pointed out it is imperative that the tyrants be the first to draw blood — literal blood. The Americans at Lexington and Concord let the British fire first. The Americans showed “patient sufferance.” This is crucial for establishing that this isn’t about “light and transient causes” but rather “repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny…” When you said we aren’t in tyranny yet, and counseled calm, you were right. The Dems have now proceeded towards tyranny, having been given the opportunity to show they really are acting in good faith. OK, let them proceed.

    3. If and when they start killing Americans over guns — then it’s time. But they must start it.

I don’t know whether Governor Klanface will start a civil war, but if nothing occurs before November, I think the left is in for an unprecedented electoral pounding. Or perhaps I’m wrong and they win. But the election will likely rearrange things greatly; then we’ll know if it’s time or not.

    • nomen nescio says:

Not trying to be That Guy, but Randy Weaver and David Koresh would like to have a few words with you. They’ve been killing Americans over guns for at least a generation.

I have no idea what can be done at this point. I’m no politician, no leader of men. Am I a coward if I don’t want to see the violence escalate further?

  • Supposedly, getting your enemy to strike the first blow is an advantage in Weltpolitik. It gives you the “moral high ground.” But let’s remember that it’s the victors who write the histories — and a sufficiently paralyzing first strike can predetermine the outcome of a conflict.

Ours is an era of maximum uncertainty. Take nothing for granted.

    • Take nothing for granted … and keep your head on a swivel.

    • Henry says:

Worse yet, it’s the enemy who writes the newspapers, forget the histories. So no matter which side draws blood first, the news will report that it was a second amendment activist. Guaranteed.

Come on, you all know this.

This making sure we’re not the first to fire may be personally satisfying, but will give you no moral high ground that anyone else will be able to appreciate, because no one else will ever know it.

        • pigpen51 says:

          Marta,
I have been watching all of the rancor from the left, as it deals with both the 1st and 2nd amendments, for a very long time. And the one thing that I can say, is that if we, the supposedly law abiding gun owners, are the first ones to fire a shot across their bow, we have lost whatever support we might have had from those who don’t have a dog in the fight. And those people will be important, in deciding just who will win.
As you seem to indicate, a shooting war, against your own neighbors is not to be undertaken lightly. It makes for great social media posts to write, molon labe, or pry my gun from my cold dead hands. It is quite another thing to have to worry about fighting off a couple dozen people intent on breaching your home, and taking all your supplies, and your family’s lives be damned. Are you all really ready for that type of a war? Because that is what you are advocating, when you call for a shooting civil war.
Not that the day won’t come when we have no choice. But that simply must be our last resort, not the first one, or one that we seek.
This is the greatest nation on earth, and I believe it was given to humankind for us to stand as a beacon on a hill, for others to see, and to strive towards. We are no longer that way. All of our efforts should be towards making us that shining beacon once again.
But of course, as it always is, we must be prepared for any possible outcome and danger, as good stewards of what we have, both of our families, and our goods. If you don’t have adequate preps such as firearms and the bullets for them, the time to start on that is now. Don’t go crazy, just buy a couple of boxes of ammo every paycheck,it should only run about 20$ if you buy 9mm ball. You can pick up a used 9mm semi auto pistol for a very good price right now, normally less than 200$. You can even buy a new pistol for not much more than that.
The rest of your preps, such as food and water, are beyond my scope. But you can find lists all over the place,on the internet. Mostly just don’t sit around and wait. Get busy, and get prepared for what ever may come. We live in dangerous times, my friends, and we must be ready for what ever life sends our way.

          • Scott says:

Good points pigpen, though your comment “we have lost whatever support we might have had from those who don’t have a dog in the fight. ” makes me think that it should read “from those who THINK they don’t have a dog in the fight”.. Regardless of how uninterested in gun ownership those people are, and how much they THINK the 2nd Amendment doesn’t matter to them, the loss of freedom would affect them as well, they just don’t realize it.

          • Henry says:

    claiming that “elections have consequences.”
They DO. That’s why – in addition to ensuring direct, catastrophic, personal consequences to any tyrants – we also have to ensure the people are moral* and educated. We HAVE to make sure we are communicating to the electorate what their true rights and responsibilities are. We need them to jealously and zealously (as we saw in Richmond) defend those rights.

Because, you see, it’s only the people who actually enforce the Constitution. Not the courts. Not the executive branch law enforcement folks. Not the legislature. Not even the military. Every single one of those groups can be compromised – IF THE PEOPLE ALLOW. AS the people HAVE allowed.

(* Yes, moral. As in Judeo-Christian morality. That’s a required basis for a republic.)

    • Hate_me says:

      The Roman republic was polytheistic.

While the particular trappings of any specific religion tend to be uniquely developed, I would say that an understanding of correct moral behavior (with much in common with Judeo-Christian morality) will simply come with better education. The rituals and terms are particular to each tradition, but the underlying principles tend toward the universal.

      • The Jacksonian Grouch says:

        @Hate_e, 27jan2020 @ 6:48pm post:

“… The Roman republic was polytheistic...”

I disagree – unless i misunderstand, you imply in response to GWB that Judeo-Christian morality is not needed, or is not the best thing for We the People to strive for. If you mean this, then yes, I do emphatically disagree with your premise.

Nor does polytheism stand as a relevant point, imho, in this part of the exchange. Polytheism in Rome had nothing like the cultural, moral, world view, civilizational underpinnings for the Roman Republic that does the Judeo-Christian worldview (J-CW for short) for Western Civilization. And, to be clear, for us in the West, religion, particularly Christendom, does form a worldview which our civilization grew upon (… and which now is battered/fractured and under asssault since the age of Enlightenment…). The Roman Republic, however, was not likewise supported in their existence by their polytheistic practices. Almost as many differing views of the world could exist as there were gods to pray to. Yes, OK, perhaps a stretch in this statement, but it’s a monotheism vs polytheism point I make with it.

This is not to say the Roman Republic did not have something akin to our J-CW. They had a common custom, a culture, based on Mos Maiorum, or “the ways of the Elders”.

These customs were passed through generations, from parent to child, through their civil institutions, their laws. Certain things were just done in the expected manner, or just not done because it was accepted as so. Code of Honor. Mos Maiorum is what gave heart to the people in their support for each other, and their expectation of justice and fair treatment before their laws. Mos Maiorum is the strength which Horatius tapped into when he stood at the bridge – he knew that he could count on two other valiant warriors to stand alongside him, and he knew that were he not there, another Roman would have taken the same steps he did.

Mos Maiorum was the Roman Republics code of morality that made them who they were, just as Judeo-Christian values made Western Civilization, made America, who we are.

And… just as the fall of the Roman Republic was first preceded by a century-long erosion of “the ways of the Elders”, with names like Gracchus, Sulla… men of wealth and power shredding the common customs to their own purpose and in process, slowly destroying the Republic. In short, the Romans stopped living by Mos Maiorum, and the Republic was lost.

        — so now our America, and Western Civilization, is also in like manner, and for near as long a time in years, being destroyed by the sort of culture, erosion of social, civil and legal customs and worldview that is counter to Judeo-Christianity. That is the point, I believe, that GWB makes.

And, if there’s any doubt left… yes, I agree with GWB – a Judeo-Christian morality is the required basis for the American Republic, imho. Without it, the phrase & motto I most cherish – E Pluribus Unum – is hollow and meaningless.

(* “Trumps” being politicians willing to fight for the Constitution, conservative principles, etc. When those sorts – rather than the bipartisan political class – run both houses of Congress, it might be possible. But, at that point, it shouldn’t be necessary, either.)

  • Kevin Baker says:

I have concluded that the “Long March Through the Institutions” has succeeded beyond the wildest dreams of the Frankfurt School alumni. The Democrat Party has been thoroughly taken over by literal Socialists, and a plurality – if not a majority – of the American population views Socialism as a moral Good, Capitalism as an evil, and the Constitution as an obstacle.

What is a fundamental tenet of Socialism? That only through violent revolution can Socialism rise in a society.

They think this is their time. They’re going for it.

  • Michael Gilson says:

I will borrow my disparaging words from a man far greater than I.
Caesar had his Brutus, Charles the First his Cromwell; and Governor Northam may profit by their example. If this be treason, make the most of it!

  • dds says:

When speaking to younger people, particularly millennials, I’m often surprised at how many of them have never watched “Gone With the Wind.” One of my favorite scenes is the one where Capt. Rhett Butler explains to a group of young southern gentlemen that the North has the means to wage and win a war while the South has cotton, slaves, and arrogance.

This country’s current crop of progressives seems unaware that if TSHTF, they will not be able to feed, clothe, power, or arm themselves. Yet they seem to hunger for a fight in a fit of righteous arrogance. One can almost hear them in some faculty lounge exclaiming that one ANTIFA can whip twenty deplorables.

    Arrogance indeed.

    • zenman says:

Well, to be fair, the progressives think that would be the governments job, to feed, clothe, power and protect them should TSHTF…

Anyone who’s been around long enough know the government is rather incompetent at it, and would rather starve than enter a government shelter during times of general civil duress.

One need look no farther than hurricane Katrina/Superdome, or hurricane Maria/Puerto Rico

      • Dan Hamilton says:

“rather starve than enter a government shelter during times of general civil duress.”
This because gov shelter requires you to give up all arms and weapons.
Within the Shelter the strongest gang runs the place and whatever they want they get. The Gov People running the place know about the Gangs but don’t interfere after all it is only the haves that are now being exploited by the have nots.

  • Sven says:

Actually, they would prefer surrender. They will use every tool they have to encourage our capitulation. Incrementalism has been working for them and demoralization is central to their strategy.

“The rifle hanging on the wall of the working-class flat of labourer’s cottage is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays there.”

Orwell is not speaking about conservatives.

  • Will says:

A friend linked this from MeWe.com, I’m refreshed by seeing I’m not the only one who’s saying this. YES, The Left wants us gone. For 50 years they have had a plan to put us in concentration camps and liquidate us by the tens of millions. Their penchant for violence is more and more self-evident as their extremism fails to cow and intimidate us on the Right. The Left for over 100 years now have used gulags to eliminate dissent to the tune of over 250 million killed.

SO I SAY, TIME TO GET THIS CIVIL WAR OFF TO A PROPER START AND DEAL WITH THIS DOMESTIC ENEMY OF LIFE, LIBERTY & JUSTICE. PINOCHET WAS RIGHT – PHYSICAL REMOVAL IS THE ONLY OPTION.

    • nomen nescio says:

As a student of history, I will observe that a Pinochet is far from the worst thing that can happen to a nation. Several million dead Cambodians, I’m sure, would tell you they wish they’d had a Pinochet of their own in the 1960s, to give Pol Pot and his followers some one-way helicopter rides.

That is a hard place to be, and a difficult place to stand, but for most of history it has been the norm. A historian named Alfred Duggan told us in the last century that for all of recorded history, in every corner of the earth, the default form of human hierarchical organization is “peasants ruled by brigands.” You and I are living in a tiny, tiny bubble of history in a nation in which that isn’t the norm, and that warps our perspective about what is and isn’t possible, what is and isn’t likely. The American Revolution was very much an outlier, very much an aberration. The overthrow of established societal orders over the past millennium has almost always resulted in a bloodbath, sometimes going on for decades.

Hard times are coming. I’ll be damned if I know what anyone can do about it.

You only last week saw them for what they is? Took you long enough to get to the party, Marta.

  • Don says:

Of course they want trouble tos tart so they can then attempt to blame conservatives for the trouble, establish marital law ans remove Trump who’ll they’ll attempt to blame. The concept the fools can’t grasp is they think they can use the military to quell it but they foolishly cannot grasp just how many people in the military have families who are really against them who will defend their family members if the idiots persist.

  • We have reached a stage where I am glad I am old and won’t have to live to see what the result will be. Conservatives can hold out for a little longer, but there is an up coming generation that has bought into the liberal progressive socialist movement and has no one to tell them how and why it is wrong. As a teenager during the 60’s, understand how easy it is to see some of the issues in a simplistic manner – but even then understood that it was wrong to “liberate” food to feed the people for free. Those same people have the same thought processes going on 55 years later and have spent those 55 years sharing and teaching that message until they have the power to stand up in front of people, ala Elizabeth Warren, laughing at someone who worked and sacrificed to avoid debt. I currently live in a small neighborhood in a liberal city (know there are conservatives here, but they are well camouflaged), and there are exactly TWO conservative families in this neighborhood, out of about 30. And that is probably a good cross representation of the cities conservative / liberal balance. Our gun store was driven out, we have no place that sells any weapons of any kind – you would be hard pressed to even buy a knife in one of the camping supply stores. We are next door to CA and as the exodus continues, we are watching out state go from deep Red to a very bluish purple. Our GOP governor is pushing for the third time Red Flag laws and there is even a proposal out there to rescind Stand Your Ground. I’m glad I’m old.

  • Jim says:

Let’s take over their mantras for our purposes:
    “My gun, my choice.”
“Keep the government out of our weapons lockers.”
“It’s not an illegal gun, it’s an undocumented home defense device.”
