Last night was the Georgia Governor’s Debate. I was all set and ready for the Democrat, Stacey Abrams and the Republican, incumbent Brian Kemp. You know what you are going to get with those two. There was an unwanted candidate at the debate, Libertarian Shane Hazel was the red-headed step-child at the family reunion. He was, um, entertaining and, occasionally enlightening. Social media considered him a nuisance. I don’t know if he will be at the October 30 rematch with Abrams and Kemp.
When I tuned in to stream the debate and saw that Shane Hazel was on the stage, I thought who is this guy? He was the spoiler who kept Senator David Perdue from holding his Senate seat and forced the runoff that gave us Senator Raphael Warnock, and we know how that is working out. Please God, let Herschel Walker win this seat.
Who is Shane Hazel when he is not spoiling elections? He was a Marine for eight years and graduated from the University of Georgia. He is 42 years old and his profession is podcasting.
When the debate began the first two questions went to Abrams and Kemp. They did not answer the questions; they gave opening statements. Hazel was asked about marijuana. First, he said he was a Libertarian so you know the answer. Then, he said the government makes marijuana a schedule one drug and yet holds many patents on it.
Later on, Stacey Abrams was nattering on about how Brian Kemp is responsible for putting more guns on the streets of Georgia and the rising crime rate. The ever beige Kemp was nattering on about it’s Biden’s fault and Hazel said that the government is the biggest mass murdered and then rambled into Civil Forfeiture.

Hazel also was right on spot about Central Bank Digital Currencies, but forgot to ask Abrams a question until reminded by the moderator and then said his hearing was bad. What? Maybe he is a fruit loop. Here is the video of the debate, it’s only an hour, mercifully.
The Hill published Five Takeaways from the debate and this was one of them:
Unlike in 2018, Kemp is heading into Election Day with a full term as governor under his belt. And on Monday, he sought to remind voters what that entails.
He repeatedly touted his decision to lift pandemic restrictions against the advice of public health officials, arguing that it strengthened Georgia’s economy while other states faltered.
Hazel reminded Kemp how he shut down businesses and declared workers Non-Essential.
More from The Hill:
Abrams stunned many political observers in 2018 when she came within 55,000 votes of defeating Kemp in the race for Georgia governor with a campaign that focused on voting rights and the need for greater racial equity.
She has largely tried to replicate that strategy this year, attacking Kemp and Republicans for implementing new voting laws and hammering the need to balance public safety with police reform.
In one heated exchange, Abrams accused Kemp of ignoring the struggles of Black and brown people who have struggled with police discrimination, saying that “while you may not have had that experience, too many people I know have.”
With Abrams, everything EVERYTHING is about race.
Even when discussing why teachers are leaving the profession. Kemp didn’t answer, but said he gave teachers a $5000.00 bonus. Hazel said he favors privatizing schools and that his teacher wife homeschools their kids. And Abrams that teachers are leaving the profession out of frustration, because Brian Kemp keeps them from teaching the “full breadth” of history. NOTE TO ALL THE CANDIDATES: 36% of third graders in the state of Georgia cannot read at grade level. Teach them to read and they can read and learn history without you. Jeebus, I am so tired of these nimrods.
Two more things:
1 – Stacey Abrams talked a lot about working for Georgians. Was she working for Georgians when she cost the state the All-Star Game?
2 – Stacey Abrams has never really conceded the 2018 Gubernatorial race.
She’s spent 4 years refusing to concede. She called for boycotts of GA over the voting law (I voted in 5 minutes today). She called GA the worst state to live. What is he allowed to call her? I’d have gone with “desperate”, “pathetic” or “grifter” personally.

Bottom line: Shane Hazel is a righteous fruit loop, at least he is colorful. Stacey Abrams is a racist and not too bright. Brian Kemp is sooooo beige, but he is the best candidate. Vote Kemp.

The problem is that libertarians are right on some things. But they can’t let go of certain principles they share with Progressives: hedonism and a non-belief in human nature. And this leads to their stupider ideas.
What we need are more radical constitutionalists and fewer progressives of any sort.
Of course, what we need is an electorate that truly understands what’s necessary for freedom and then votes strictly on it, giving strong incentive to those elected to do the right thing.
