Former Pence Aide Cuts Ad For Republicans Against Trump

Olivia Troye, a former aide to Vice President Mike Pence has cut an ad for Republican Voters Against Trump. In the ad, she cites President Donald Trump’s callous disregard for American lives in his Covid-19 response for her disgust for Trump. As with most of these people, she doesn’t give an indication for what she would have done differently.

In case you have never heard of Republican Voters Against Trump, noted Swamp Dweller and vocal Never Trumper, Bill Kristol is the Founding Director. The Strategic Director is Sarah Longwell. Longwell quit the Log Cabin Republicans in 2019 when the endorsed Donald Trump for reelection. Can you feel the hate tonight?

So what is Olivia Troye’s beef with Donald Trump? From the Washington Post:

Olivia Troye, who worked as homeland security, counterterrorism and coronavirus adviser to Vice President Pence for two years, said that the administration’s response cost lives and that she will vote for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden this fall because of her experience in the Trump White House.

“The president’s rhetoric and his own attacks against people in his administration trying to do the work, as well as the promulgation of false narratives and incorrect information of the virus have made this ongoing response a failure,” she said in an interview.

Here is the ad made by the former Pence aide:

This former Pence aide is not a medical professional. Her specialty is national security. She was on the Coronavirus Task Force. Troye says that by the middle of February, “we” knew that Covid-19 was going to be a “big pandemic” in the United States. She asserts that Trump only cared about reelection. Troye forgets that in late February Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, was in Chinatown, San Francisco telling people to come visit. Donald Trump stopped flights from China on January 31, 2020, while the House and Senate were playing the impeachment game until February 5, 2020.

Troye’s claim that Trump called his supporters “disgusting” is interesting. Donald Trump is a noted germaphobe. He never liked shaking hands. I can easily imagine him saying that shaking hands is disgusting. I can also imagine Troye twisting that into him saying Trump voters are disgusting.

This former aide doesn’t seem to remember the mixed messages coming from Dr. Anthony Fauci and Surgeon General Jerome Adams:

Hmmmm? Olivia? According to multiple reports, Miss Troye was released early from the Vice-President’s detail because she could no longer keep up with her day to day responsibilities. After her termination, Miss Troye sent a letter to the Vice President and did not mention Donald Trump. National Public Radio filed this report late last night:

“Supporting the Vice President in leading all of you on this effort has been the experience of a lifetime,” she said in the letter. She did not mention Trump.

In a statement, Lt. General Keith Kellogg, national security advisor to the Vice President. said Troye “is disgruntled that her detail was cut short because she was no longer capable of keeping up with her day-to-day duties.”

“Ms. Troye directly reported to me, and never once during her detail did she ever express any concern regarding the Administration’s response to the Coronavirus to anyone in her chain of command. By not expressing her concerns, she demonstrated an incredible lack of moral courage.”

The political game is not wiffle ball. We can expect more “former” whatevers to come forward with tales of President Trump’s nefarious activities in the next five weeks. They should be met with a yawn, but the Never Trumpers like Bill Kristol will used them and forget them.

It’s fair to question the background and motives of former Trump staffers that have come out and criticzed Trump. Why, though, do you think so many have done so? I can’t remember any other incumbent presidents running for a second term who have had this many former staffers speak out against them. Any ideas on why this is the case?
