The warnings have been voiced. The data has been pointed out. Yet the deaths of despair don’t fit the Pravda media’s Wuhan coronavirus narrative. And they certainly aren’t the concern of karens who have taken the shame-and-snitch power and run with it.

Four suicides on Kaua‘i in less than a week have prompted concern by police and health workers that the COVID-19 crisis is moving in a dangerous new direction, with broad risks to mental health caused by joblessness, financial reversals and despair. […]

The four suicides involve young men in their 20s or 30s, and the deaths, in all cases, were by hanging, [Kaua‘i Police Department Chief Todd] Raybuck said. […]

The four deaths in such close time proximity bring to five the number of suicides on Kaua‘i this year.

Moving? MOVING? All the elements of the national house arrest of the healthy – social isolation, economic uncertainly, little-to-no access to non-covid19 healthcare – are circumstances that exacerbate suicide risk.

A study released Friday tried to quantify the toll. The paper, which was not peer-reviewed, found that over the next decade as many as 75,000 additional people could die from “deaths of despair” as a result of the coronavirus crisis, a term that refers to suicides and substance-abuse-related deaths. The research was done by the Well Being Trust and researchers affiliated with the American Academy of Family Physicians.

This study, released May 8, shouldn’t be surprising. On April 13, Betsy McCaughey pointed out a Lancet study published in 2015 on the relationship between unemployment and suicide. Using that study and data from National Bureau of Economic Research, she posited that 77,000 Americans were likely to die from suicide or drug overdose when unemployment hit 32%.

Yet outside of an occasional expression of shock at rising numbers, the usual response is a furrowed brow and admonishment that “we need to be checking in on our colleagues, our loved ones, our friends.”

Sure, hon. We’re in a perfect position to check in with our friends as long as we don’t actually, you know, get any closer than a cell phone or Zoom meeting.

I certainly can’t watch all the pressers and bureaucrat updates that run each day. But as far as I know, no one has ever asked Saint Fauci about the lockdown-induced rise in suicide deaths, drug overdose, alcohol abuse, rise in domestic violence and child abuse, and generally the shitty bullying that empowering karens, this decade’s Mrs. Grundy, has wrought.

Too many people have decided they’re the mask and social-distancing police and that even though they’re out and about, other people shouldn’t be. […]

A staffer in Glen Canyon took a small group of kids on a walk, having them hold a long tug-of-war rope marked off in 6-foot increments. The staffer’s supervisor, Toby Wiley, recounted, “A couple of senior citizens walked up close to him and said, ‘Thanks for bringing the kids out to kill us.’”

Everyday, at the top of the “news” break, there is a solemn recitation of the latest Wuhan coronavirus deaths. We have taken what has already been a rising rate of suicides and added gasoline to the fire but it will not be noted by the media.

No more. I’m done with these sanctimonious, oozing canker-blossoms.

‘Thanks for bringing the kids out to kill us.’
Arrogant assholes. And that sort of thing makes me want to say “Now, class. Everyone turn and look at grandma and grandpa Karen. Now everyone cough on them.”
    *smh*

(BTW, a frightening, but well done graphic, Darleen.)

      “Okay Boomer!” would also work.

Asking what they are doing outside themselves is another good response.

You guys are way too polite.
“The combination of arrogance and stupidity illustrated by that statement shows that your deaths would improve the neighborhood.”

    rising rate of suicides?

if this is what it takes to suicide, no work for a month or three, the planet would have perished 500 thousand years ago.

It’s not just “no work”. It’s being ordered to not be able to work. It’s being locked up under house arrest. And yes, those things do cause people to lose hope.

Trying reading Camus to see how others have already contemplated this.

I always wondered about my Maternal Grandfather who died in ’33 at his own hand, but now, as a small-business man (semi-retired) undergoing the stress of the Great Corona Hoax, I realize that the collapse of his business was more devastating than any thought of the emptiness that he would be leaving to his wife and children (eleven, the youngest being my mother, age 14).
One consolation in dealing with the Karens is that I live in NV, an Open Carry state, and as an FFL I naturally carry, and have found that Robert Heinlein had great insight when he wrote “An armed society is a polite society”, for the presence of an openly carried pistol makes people reflect upon their words and actions FTMP before they say or do something stupid.

Asking Saint Fauci about the social consequences of the lock downs and the isolations would be meaningless…
…BECAUSE HE IS NOT AN EPIDEMIOLOGIST.

Dr. Fauci is an immunologist: his expertise is in what a human body does response to infectious invasions, which is an entirely different field from epidemiology – the study of disease transmission across populations. Dr. Fauci’s expertise is in the individual, not the population.

The yelpers and screechers of the daily DNC Propaganda Corps have never bothered to point this out. And Dr. Fauci has never bothered to correct their misstatements. Ponder that.

Great piece! I have been saying this all along about suicide, child abuse, spouse abuse, I have teachers friends and the presser on them is incredible, not taking away from the so-called front line workers, but I am, the teachers are the real heroes, most all have students that have fallen off the end of the earth, by what means they don’t know and won’t know until we are allowed back out to see who is gonna show back up! I said once we all come out, we are gonna find a lot of ppl that will not come out because they are dead in their homes!!
