Dancing and comedy in New York are virus attractors according to Governor Andrew “Nursing Home” Cuomo. Therefore comedy, dancing, corn hole games, and karaoke are verboten.
“There is no dancing allowed in New York’s bars and restaurants, even at a wedding reception, according to the New York State Liquor Authority.
To control the spread of the coronavirus, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s liquor authority has also specifically banned darts, pool, cornhole, karaoke and exotic dancing.
Somehow, a place that allows customers to throw axes and drink beer is reopening Friday. There was no word from the liquor authority on how that fits in to safety protocols.”
Axe throwing is awesome! Riots and looting, no big deal. But that sentimental Father Daughter dance at a wedding. HORRIFYING!

Megan notes in her article that while people are rebelling privately, even at the Mass she attended recently, people wouldn’t sing!
This is where we are folks, and this is why the references to Footloose are apt in my opinion. That movie’s premise was that dancing and music were banned because of ONE SINGLE tragic event. That’s what is happening across our country because of this Wuhan virus. Shut down the economy in any way we can and somehow magically, that bad virus will disappear. Carefully open schools and colleges up, but slam shut again when less than 1% of the student population tests positive.
In Colorado, Governor Polis kept bars from operating past ten pm. Because you know, the virus only starts wandering through the bars and streets at 10:01 pm and beyond. Last night Denver, as with Portland and other cities, was the scene of destructive riots that left businesses destroyed, trees burned, and graffiti everywhere.
Rioting is fine! No viruses there! Dancing in New York? We are all GOING TO DIE!
Cuomo has been on a spree shutting down bars that are observed to be flouting the rules.

Inside, investigators documented five patrons sitting at the bar consuming alcohol, in flagrant violation of the Governors’ Executive Order in place since March 16, 2020 restricting indoor dining. Investigators also observed three employees not wearing facial coverings and found no evidence that food was being served — in violation of the state’s Alcohol Beverage Control Law dating back to 1964.”
First of all, the bars were supposed to magically serve food, not chicken wings mind you, but FOOD in order to be open. Secondly, how is one supposed to drink a beverage with a mask covering your face? Through a straw? Guess what, you still have to move the damned mask to drink!
Comedy routines and ticketed music at bars and restaurants are now forbidden.
“”As an event producer, my whole business and all my friends and business associates are deeply impacted — 30 years in the music business and in one fell swoop we have been destroyed,” said Diane Tucci in Riverhead. “I’m down 98 percent in revenue with no end in sight for the event business. Many of my friends own bars or play at them. The restaurants were starting to charge for bands in order to pay them. This affects our whole culture. Live music and supporting musicians is at the heart of everything I have done for years.”
She added: “Did Cuomo not get an instrument for Christmas as a kid? Why the vendetta against restaurants and breweries and musicians?” Tucci described the mandate as “the latest death blow from Cuomo.””
Now is the time for music. Now is the time for laughter. Unless you are Governor Andrew “Nursing Home” Cuomo that is. His new normal evidently means the laughter and music we so badly need will kill us all!

Oh wait, the VMA Music Awards are the exception to this rule! No 14-day quarantine for them!
The hypocrisy is fathoms deep and miles wide here. Music and concerts are allowed if it is the VMA Music awards because celebrities or something.

Why have more businesses not sued on the basis of this being totally arbitrary? These would be dictators need to be held personally liable for the business losses.

His “faithful” supporters are forgetting/forgiving the death sentence he laid upon senior citizens, along with the economic hardships he has heaped upon New Yorkers. Now, we are a society that willingly wears useless talismans on our faces at the order of tinhorn dictator governors.
At the beginning of the clampdowns I had a discussion with a liberal office-mate. I stated that these tinhorns could not control a free society. A few days ago she mentioned that I was wrong. I replied, “I was not wrong and am still not wrong. I said a FREE SOCIETY.”
Part of society is free in the Rousseau sense. They are free to burn, loot, murder, intimidate, coerce, strong-arm, and physically destroy everything in their path. Their freedom is encouraged and protected by the government and media. The other large segment of society is being cajoled by government and willingly surrender their freedom and liberty.
We get what we deserve.

The dancing prohibition does surprise me a bit, since much of modern “dance” more closely resembles a gaggle of independent drunkards trying to shake ants from their pants than it does an intimate social interaction.

(Most every modern club dance floor I’ve been on in 40 years meets all the conditions of heat and humidity to kill coronavirus dead in seconds.)
