COVID Devotees Insist Pandemic Isn’t Over

The White House is not a happy place today. Last night, Joe Biden said during his “60 Minutes” interview with Scott Pelley that the COVID pandemic was over.

Biden said this while walking around the Detroit car show with Pelley, oblivious to the legal and political headaches he was creating for himself.

This entire exchange apparently caught the White House’s COVID advisors by surprise, as this was a spontaneous comment and not a planned remark, per sources. Well, too bad. It’s on tape. And now the White House is attempting to deal with the fallout. How? The official statement by Ron Klain the White House is the same as their comments on Taiwan – “nothing has changed.”

A day later, an administration official told CNN that the President’s comments do not mark a change in policy toward the administration’s handling of the virus, and there are no plans to lift the Public Health Emergency, which has been in place since January 2020 and is currently extended through October 13.”

The legal fallout is obvious – first of all, the Biden administration is still fighting in the courts to reinstate the mask mandate on airplanes. That mask mandate was ended by a federal judge last April, and the Biden administration filed an appeal at the last minute to try and bring the mask mandate back. Their rationale was that COVID was still a danger and the CDC had the power to do this.

In a brief filed with the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the Biden administration argued the January 2021 order from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requiring travelers to wear masks on public transportation and in transit hubs to prevent the spread of COVID-19 “falls easily” within the agency’s statutory authority.”

“Taking preventative measures is part of the CDC’s core mission. It is embodied in the name of the agency — Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” Justice Department lawyers told the 11th Circuit in their filing. “It makes no sense to suggest that the agency would not incorporate preventative measures in the actions it undertakes.”

Between the Supreme Court’s ruling on the CDC not having the power to stop evictions due to COVID, and now the words out of Biden’s own mouth, I’d say that the 11th Circuit is going to tell the Biden administration that they are out of luck. But the legal implications are bigger than that. Remember the entire rationale for the student loan forgiveness? With his own mouth, Biden just declared his plan illegal. The problem is, that plan might keep moving forward until SOMEONE with the appropriate “standing” can be found and challenge it in court.

This may not do much to advance the case into court. This declaration won’t affect the hurdles of standing when it comes to challenging Biden’s Academia bailout. However, Biden’s declaration vastly simplifies the challenge if and when a plaintiff does establish standing in a lawsuit to stop the trillion-dollar spending binge Biden pledged without any involvement from Congress. In a sense, Biden cut the legs out from under his own standing under the HEROES Act with his undisciplined rhetorical diarrhea last night. Let’s hope that a court provides some constitutional Immodium soon.”

And now to the political headache that the White House is going to have to deal with. We all know that far too many “public health officials” and self-appointed know-it-alls on Twitter have made COVID into their religion, Fauci their prophet, Walensky the current high priestess, and mask wearing as their symbol of religious observation. Biden just declared that their god is false, and the freaking out by those the media are trotting out, and those on Twitter who are screaming into the internet, is worth a few bags of popcorn.

It’s hilarious how many doctors have decided to become cult leaders for the COVID religion. Dr. Celine Gounder, who CBS News interviewed, has her own website where she describes herself as “a medical journalist and thought leader” and cites her many, many appearances on multiple media outlets. That, of course, makes her an EXPERT who can scold Grandpa Joe about him saying that ANY LEVEL OF DEATH IS OKAY. There will never be an end to this COVID pandemic, according to the “experts,” unless they get everything they want – which includes, per Dr. Gounder, universal health care.

But the tippy-top of the hysteria mountain was easily climbed by Twitter’s favorite doctor of misinformation and noted hypocrite, Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding. Feigl-Ding has been a leading COVID religionist, even hyping up monkeypox as the next pandemic, because his entire life’s purpose has been wrapped up in how he is perceived on Twitter.

Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding is REALLY pissed off at Joe Biden at the moment.

The arrogance and hysteria is off the charts here. Feigl-Ding seems to think that Joe Biden OWES him because he supported Biden politically. As a payoff, Biden was supposed to endorse and keep the “forever pandemic” mentality that justifies Feigl-Ding’s raison d’être. How DARE Joe Biden now say “the pandemic is over” (purely for political reasons) when Eric Feigl-Ding says it isn’t over (purely for political reasons)!

The pandemic is over, and those who found their entire meaning in life in their new religion are going to have to cope with actually watching people return to normal activities. Some will still wear masks, just to prove that they are good people and loyal to the faith. Whatever. So long as they don’t enforce mask wearing on others, I have no problem what people choose to wear on their faces. It still won’t change the fact that COVID, while still harmful to the elderly, cannot be allowed to control the daily lives of the population at large. The experiment is over, and we didn’t pass through it undamaged. Joe Biden just managed to fire off a couple of neurons and state the obvious. The White House is going to do their best to ignore that he ever said it. Don’t let them.
