What does it take to be an Ivy League professor these days, you ask? Clearly, a disdain for American Patriotism, Capitalism and a huge dose of personal insanity. In fact, the more whacked-out you are, the better. This guy fits the job description.

Professor Russell Rickford of Cornell University showed up to a Black Lives Matter protest this past Friday at the South Side Community Center in Ithaca, New York and gave attendees his “educated” opinion. Rickford stated that he was tired of waiting for reforms of police departments and small concessions from elected leaders on the issue of police brutality. He charged “genocide” based on the United Nations’ definition of “genocide” and that “the fraternal order of police is a terrorist organization” and “that more radical action must be taken’.

Rickford categorized white Americans as falling into three categories: The racists, the non-racists who still fight to “protect their white privilege” and the “anti-white-supremacy whites who hate capitalism”. The capitalist-haters were the ones that are “worth the time of day”.

“There’s a sliver, a sliver of white America that hates white supremacy and that hates Capitalism. These are the folks that you need to organize with.’-Russell Rickford

Rickford harangued on:

“You’ve got to organize with class-conscious workers….You’ve got to organize with the undocumented. You’ve got to organize with the radical trans people….You’ve got to build a poor people’s movement, a colonized people’s movement. We’ve got to build a grassroots, antiracist movement to defeat capitalism altogether and it’s not going to happen at the ballot box.

“There can be no human system under capitalism. Capitalism is an anti-human system.”

Because nothing embodies humanism found in communist in North Korea, Castro’s Cuba or Chavez’ Venezuela, right?

Rickford surfaced after the Ferguson riots, urging his white students to respond to the sitiation by committing “race suicide” in December of 2014:

“There’s still a slender minority of white folks, that are ready to commit race suicide. Which is to say, they are ready to reject corrupt skin privileges. They’re ready to perform treason to whiteness, as an expression of their loyalty to humanity.”-Russell Rickford

At a lecture at Dartmouth University Rickford also called Martin Luther King Jr. Day “a tool of the far-right imperialists to appease people.”

Genocide is defined in Article 2 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (1948) as “any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole ot in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing members to prevent births within the group; and forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.-United Nations Legal Definition of Genocide

Pigs in a blanket, fry ’em like bacon. Project much? So, let’s get this straight. Cops=bad, according to Rickford and the only whites who are worth “talking to” or “organizing” with are those who are anti-cop, “anti-capitalism”…because the rest of us are either too busy trying to hang onto our “privilege” or just all-out racist and need to just “off ourselves”. What does an advanced degree from Columbia University get you, folks? An individual with a substantial annual salary who is a mouthpiece with the ability to shape young, eager minds. Some of these young, eager minds listen to an individual spouting anti-police rhetoric, anti-capitalism rhetoric, encouraging them to organize with “radicals” and take their professor seriously because he/she is an “expert” in the field. It’s all part of our big university machine. Categorizing whites in this nutty professor’s mind is not the “segregation” or “division” he claims to speak out against. Calling upon whites to commit “race suicide” is not “discrimination”-it’s “organization” and necessary in the name of unity, of course. And, I’m willing to bet that it never once dawned upon his brilliance that perhaps there are whites in this world who hate white supremacy but are pretty darn okay with Capitalism and the freedoms associated with it even if it means the ability to pay our hard-earned “dirty” Capitalist money to have our kids hear people like Rickford stand in an auditorium and lecture. Yeah. Seems Rickford forgot to factor in that sliver of the population.
