Boston Mayor Wu Demonstrates How Political Sausage Is Made

Never mind that Boston has a $48,000,000 budget deficit. Pay no attention to Mayor Wu’s proposed city budget of $4.9 BILLION along with warning taxpayers they are going to have to cough up MOAR taxes. TQ+ migrants and refugees must have their $500 massage vouchers.

Really.

Boston’s woke Mayor Michelle Wu is funding a new program that gives “queer and trans” migrants up to $500 for massages, yoga classes and creative healing — despite the city being crushed by a nearly $50 million deficit.

The so-called “wellness allowances” are being handed out by a nonprofit called OUTnewcomers and is backed by the Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement, the group revealed Wednesday.

“We’re offering $250–$500 wellness allowances for LGBTQ+ migrants in Boston to support their mental health and well-being through non-clinical care including yoga, meditation, creative healing, peer support, hair salon/ acupuncture & massages appointments and gym memberships etc.,” an advertisement blasted out by the group reads.

We’re but three days past April 15th, day of tax pain, and people like Wu know who the real sufferers are and who needs the mental health support of a massage session or learing the proper way to perform a downward-facing dog.

But let’s understand now, that very Woke Boston put Michelle Wu back into the mayor’s office. Indeed, she ran unopposed for her second term last year. Like many places, Boston has a jungle primary with top two finishers running. Wu captured 72% of the primary vote*, the second runner up got 22% and decided to drop out. Voila! Only one person on the ballot and Wu was back to her Progressive agenda. One of keeping Boston as neo-Confederate “sanctuary” city, imposing “green” policies based on climate change, and working on that usual Leftwing “All your children are belong us” with expanded and free pre-k programs. And being locked in place with little opposition, all those free programs get little oversite and little publicity. Right up until someone pays attention enough to say, Wait? What? Taxpayers have to cut-back on their budget but trans and queer migrants are going to get $500 vouchers?

Or maybe not?

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s office is denying reports that city funds were used to support a program offering LGBTQ migrants up to $500 in “wellness” perks, after a local advocacy group advertised the benefits and later scaled back its description amid backlash.

No money, eh? Pull my other leg.

We’re looking at one group, OUTnewcomers, but what about the other 44?

OUTnewcomers is listed as one of 45 recipients of a larger $200,000 push to support LGBTQ communities in Boston. The $200,000 figure was approved by Wu last year as a part of the Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ+ Advancement (MOLA).

According to Boston officials, OUTnewcomers was awarded a $7,500 mini-grant allocated from the 2026 budget.

Why is there an Office of LGBTQ+ Advancement in the first place? One might think that advancement or outreach or support services or charitable actions exclusive to this LGBTQ+ community would be all privately funded.

But here’s the money line, folks. Keep in mind USAID’s NGOs or Los Angeles’ FireAid or California’s Highspeed Rail …

“These investments represent our continued dedication to uplifting LGBTQ+ Bostonians by putting resources directly into the hands of trusted community organizations,” Wu said in a press release at the time.

The mayor’s office declined to answer questions about what the $7,500 fund had originally been approved for.

DING DING DING DING! Wu isn’t answering questions because follow the money might turn out to be a bit embarrassing.

Over and over we see Democrats aren’t about solving any problems. They are about setting up Byzantine systems of graft. Money that is, frankly, stolen from taxpayers and filtered through a dizzying number of “non-profits” and fly-by-night community groups.

Founded by Sal Khan, a queer journalist originally from Pakistan, OUTnewcomers describes itself as a “grassroots and volunteer-run organization based in the Greater Boston Area” (snip)

OUTnewcomers only recently launched its website in April, according to a post to X put up by the organization.

The website does not list a 990 form, the required disclosure for nonprofits that normally lays out an organization’s structure, leadership and revenue.

Holy Quality Learing Center, Batman! That thing that never happens, is happening again! Cynic that I am, I expect Wu will soon look to California’s proposed legislation as inspiration in order to shutdown anyone noticing the graft.

*Wu won Boston because only 18% of the registered voters showed up to vote for her. 18%.

Getting the Wokestanians out of office doesn’t mean you have to stand on a street corner waving a sign. You just have to show up and vote. If for nothing else, vote to keep Democrats from stealing your taxes for themselves.
