The day the media has been hyping has arrived. It’s Comey Day! Today, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, fired, former FBI Director James Comey will testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee. The media, all of it, has been bouncing off six surfaces like a four-year-old on a Willy Wonka binge.
Of course, James Comey released his seven page opening statement yesterday. The Senate Intelligence Committee almost immediately posted the statement on its government website. Yeah, that happens all the time. The media has been parsing the living daylights out of it.
Wired.com has a very helpful article “Everything You Need To Know About James Comey’s Senate Hearing”. For Wired and just about everyone on the left, this is Watergate and John Dean from 1973. Peruse this from the Wired article:
“This is the John Dean moment, if you want to compare it to Watergate,” says Nick Akerman, a former assistant special Watergate prosecutor, referring to the former White House counsel whose Senate testimony ultimately implicated President Nixon in the Watergate cover-up. “It’s going to be the first time the American public is going to hear what these conversations were about. Right now, we’re just getting it second-hand in press reports.”
And:
Like the Dean hearing in 1973, Comey’s testimony will be must-see TV—only now you’ve got way more options than broadcast networks. Yes, ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox will all air the hearing when it begins at 10 am ET. It will also air on MSNBC and CNN. C-SPAN will cover it both on television, and on its website. Or check back here tomorrow, where we’ll have a live stream up and running.
You will have a harder time not seeing this “testimony”. And, Senator Lindsey Graham was just on Fox & Friends saying this testimony was going to be a “nothingburger”. Probably. The biggest and more important question is which United States Senator will make a bigger fool out of him/her self?
The full list of Senate Intelligence Committee Members is here. Senator Kamala Harris, who replaced Barbara Boxer as the Junior Senator from California, proved her idiocy yesterday and was rebuked.
Senator Dianne Feinstein, the Senior Senator from California, has a “Worst of” reel:
And, there is Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon:
Those are my top three candidates for Senators “Most Likely to Embarrass The Republic”. Grab your lawn chair and your popcorn. Watch the hearings today beginning at 10:00 a.m. Let me know who your winners (not Reality Winner) are for Senate idiots. It could be a close race and there could be more than one winner. Happy Comey Day.
There is a lot of depth to this field, and you can bet it will be a tough competition, and a tight race to the end… that being said, in light of the whole ” everyone gets a trophy” thing on the left, can there be more than one winner?
Scott-
Absolutely. I thing everyone will get a participation certificate.
