Columbia University Has Fallen To The Anarchists

The once-hallowed institution known as Columbia University has collapsed in on itself. The only thing left to do is close the entire place down and sell it for the real estate.

OR, the administration could grow a spine, reclaim the campus, and expel the parasites who are looking to remake society in a communist revolution with themselves as absolute rulers. This is not an “anti-war” crusade, because the students at Columbia aren’t calling for a “ceasefire,” or for more humanitarian aid. This is a pro-terrorist movement via College Antifa, using The Current Thing™ as both cosplay and shield, while taking over a building on campus through destruction and vandalism. And to show their absolute solidarity with Hamas, they even took a temporary hostage.

A facilities worker at Columbia University claims to have been temporarily held hostage by anti-Israel protesters after a mob of anarchists stormed an academic building on the campus and barricaded its doors.

The insurrection began at approximately 12:30 a.m., when anti-Israel protesters who had been staying on the academic lawn of Columbia’s Manhattan campus, where about 120 tents remain, stormed Hamilton Hall, an academic building used by the dean. The mob shattered windows, barricaded doors using tables and chairs, and obscured the windows of the facility.

The major escalation came hours after Columbia University administrators began suspending students who failed to leave their encampment.

“They held me hostage,” a facilities worker who was in the building when the insurrection began said after he was allowed to leave, according to the student newspaper Columbia Spectator.

The worker exited the building at around 12:40 a.m., per the publication.

Early Tuesday morning, a mob of hundreds of anti-Israel protesters gained access shortly before 1 a.m., and they then began “moving metal gates to barricade the doors, blocking entrances with wooden tables and chairs, and zip-tying doors shut,” Columbia Spectator reported.

The group also placed a banner over the facility, renaming it “Hind’s Hall,” after Hind Rajab, a 6-year-old who died during Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza.

The images tell the story – this is anarchy, being perpetrated by a combination of professional protesters and kids who think that their dedication to The Current Thing™ (Middle East scholars they are NOT) is the most righteous value.

And yes, there are professional agitators involved who are neither students or faculty.

Also, look who is back on campus participating in the anarchist riot. None other than supposedly banned student and unhinged racist, Khymari James. Yeah, Columbia administration sure has the situation under control, don’t they?

The administration knows they have lost control. That’s why they have shut down the main campus while they wring their hands and figure out what to do next.

Columbia initially confirmed the major escalation and urged students and faculty members to avoid traveling to campus.

“Early this morning, a group of protestors [sic] occupied Hamilton Hall on the Morningside campus,” the school said. “In light of the protest activity on campus, members of the University community who can avoid coming to the Morningside campus today (Tuesday, April 30) should do so; essential personnel should report to work according to university policy. Please check with your supervisor if you have any questions. Be aware that access to campus and other campus buildings may be restricted.”

It added: “We will continue to update you with more information should there be additional changes to campus access today.”

The students are demanding the university divest their financial support of Israel, become more transparent with its investments, and provide blanket amnesty to the protesting students for any consequences.

Yes, we already know these precious darlings with all the courage of their convictions are looking to have their records expunged of any arrest or academic discipline. Such dedication to the cause, much wow. We also know that President Shafik told them yesterday that Columbia would not be divesting from Israel, and also began suspending students who did not leave the encampment after begging them to leave voluntarily.

Oh, and in case you missed it, Columbia is now the target of a class-action lawsuit for Title VI violations. To which I say, GOOD, and make it HURT.

The only pain and suffering that Columbia’s administration is going to understand is a financial one. They obviously have no regard for loss of reputation, or they would have nipped this entire “protest” in the bud immediately. So it is time to make them pay an actual price, with money, for their inaction.

What happens to Columbia now? Looking at the rioters’ actions and demands, I can tell you what the administration SHOULD do, and then I can predict what they WILL do.

The administration SHOULD expel every single student still on campus who is “occupying” Hamilton Hall. Every single faculty member supporting these anarchists should have their access to campus suspending, pending professional evaluation by the university as to whether they can be fired for cause, suspended, or disciplined – possibly docking or suspending their salaries and benefits. All food access to Hamilton Hall and any potential Door Dashing by the anarchists needs to be cut off. The NYPD should be authorized to go in and remove every single person who is inside Hamilton Hall and arrest them for vandalism and trespassing. Once the students are identified, they can be charged and expelled. Anyone who is unconnected to the campus – not a student, not faculty, not an employee – should be arrested and charged as well. Columbia should invoke Title VI and actively and quickly work to restore order on campus.

What WILL the Columbia administration end up doing? Begging and pleading with the anarchists to pretty please go home. They will probably offer some form of academic amnesty in order to bribe all but the ringleaders to concede and leave. Instead of performing radical surgery and chemotherapy to remove the cancer of anti-Semitism on their campus, they will opt for precision surgery to remove the most obvious tumors and leave the rest to continue to metastasize. That metastasis will continue among the faculty to breed the next round of radical anarchists being groomed in their image. Shafik may lose her job at the end of it all, regardless – so why should she care if the cancerous rot continues at Columbia?

Academia is beyond saving, especially the “Poison Ivies.” Students should sue them, and keep suing them, and leave for other colleges. Parents should remove their students and actively gather evidence of the racism and discrimination that these colleges are willing to tolerate, and sue the colleges some more. Alumni should hang up on calls for support and shred the letters asking for money, and demand a change in administration and faculty before they hand over another dime. The only languages that places like Columbia truly understand are power and money. Reduce their power by reducing their influence – which means students dropping out or declining to enroll – and they will listen. Take their money via lawsuits, both class-action and individual, and they will listen. If they don’t act now to save the campus – as they should have acted weeks ago – then they are choosing to learn through pain. Do not feel sorry for them one bit. Remember, they CHOSE to do this, and now they will reap what they have sown, in spades.

I was watching an interview this morning with a protester. She had the balls to say that this was a “false narrative.”

Expulsion should only be the starting point with these cretins. The professional agitators should be “shot while trying to escape police custody” but we don’t live in a fair world.

” The professional agitators should be “shot while trying to escape police custody” but we don’t live in a fair world.”.. I like the way you think!

I’d add in those that are financing this crap, starting with Soros and his spawn..

You pretty much nailed it in your paragraph on what the university should do Deanna.. Though I would add that the police should also shut off all utilities to the building, and fill it with tear gas to expedite the rest of the process…

Fence the area off. Nobody in or out till the “protestors” end their tantrum. They want to occupy the area, they should’ve planned better. Occupy your little hearts out, kids. Oh, you’re hungry? Tough shit. No water? Not my problem. Please see the nice officer over there, he’ll happily escort you to food, water, and shelter.
