Forget about American citizens. The California legislature in their infinite wisdom has passed a bill giving illegal immigrants up to $150k to purchase a home.

Yes, you read that correctly. 

A first-in-the-nation California proposal could make undocumented immigrants eligible for up to $150,000 in state-supported home loans just as immigration has become an incendiary topic in the presidential election.

The bill’s author, Fresno Democrat Joaquin Arambula, countered that the bill specifies applicants must meet requirements set by the Federal National Mortgage Association, or Fannie Mae, including having a taxpayer identification number or social security number to apply for a loan, which means they’re taxpayers.

“It isn’t given out willy nilly to just anybody,” Democratic Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes said at the June hearing.

The loan program, called California Dream for All, provides 20 percent in down payment assistance, up to $150,000. It is a shared appreciation loan in which the only interest the homebuyer pays would be 15 or 20 percent of the home’s increase in value upon selling the property, depending on their income level. The program has received state funding but is also run by the California Housing Finance Agency, which generates revenue through mortgage loans and not from taxpayers.

Oh, so those who’ve come here illegally are eligible if they show up and magically have a Social Security number? 

The little interest payment assessed on the unrealized capital gains if they sell later on is highly amusing given that’s actually a TAX.

That the California legislature is pushing all of this given the state itself blew through all its money and is now operating in a major deficit shows how tone-deaf the Democrats in that state are. Not only that, but people are leaving the state in droves, which means LESS tax dollars going into the state coffers. 

And just where does the money come from that funds the California Housing Finance Agency? Never mind that pesky question. Democrats want this program expanded to include illegal immigrants in the name of being “inclusive.” 

“AB 1840 is about providing an opportunity for homeownership, which we know allows families to secure financial security and stability,” said Arambula earlier this year. “The ability to do this strengthens local economies, and that benefits all people who call California home. The social and economic benefits of homeownership should be available to everyone. As such, the California Dream for All Program should be available to all. When undocumented individuals are excluded from such programs, they miss out on a crucial method of securing financial security and personal stability for themselves and their families.

“We simply wanted to be as inclusive as possible within our policies so that all who are paying taxes here in our state were able to qualify. Without the intentional law that we are introducing, we felt that there were complexities and questions that many in the immigrant community would have.”

Home ownership is important for planning one’s future. Yet California costs are so high that AMERICANS can’t afford starter homes, but the legislature wants to kick them aside in favor of people here illegally? And use taxpayer dollars to fund this generosity. Furthermore, housing prices are up over 40% compared to when Trump was in office, as are interest rates.

Keep in mind, this same type of program is being pushed on the national level. 

Down Payment Assistance for First-Generation Homeowners. The President continues to call on Congress to provide up to $25,000 in down payment assistance to first-generation homebuyers whose families haven’t benefited from the generational wealth building associated with homeownership. This proposal is estimated to help 400,000 families purchase their first home.

Supposedly only American citizens will be eligible to take advantage of the tax-payer funded national program. But you can darned well bet that, if enacted by a Harris-Walz Administration, it will quickly be thrown open to illegal immigrants. 

There’s another problem with this grandiose idea that the California legislature passed. 

Democrats, including State Sen. Caballero mentioned those applying for the funds obviously have to work and are contributing and paying taxes.

Republicans worry how it further crowds the program and could prevent veterans and other documented immigrants from getting the money.

Wait, what? This program was so well funded, they ran out of money in ELEVEN days? Not only that, but there’s another glitch in this oh-so generous move.

The Democrats threw up this legislation without even getting the program funded, nor are they taking into consideration the California citizens who have been striving to own a home…LEGALLY.

Again, California Democrats are pushing this legislation with zero funds to speak of while further ensuring that American citizens who WANT  and are eligible to own a home will be shoved aside.
