Buh-bye Mitch McConnell As Leader, Which Republican Is Next?

Senator Mitch McConnell is stepping down from leadership. Buh-bye. He won’t be missed in leadership, and he will be in the Senate until January, 2027. Who will be the next Republican Senate Leader? Someone from the North, South, East or West? We’d prefer someone who is not a RINO and has a spine of Chromium.

Don’t get us wrong, we will always be grateful to McConnell for saving us from Merrick Garland on the Supreme Court. Yass, well done. But, that’s about it. Mitch has been a U.S. Senator from Kentucky since 1995 AND he was Majority Leader from 2015 to 2021. Remember those days. We gave the Republicans everything, as they wished and we got bupkis. Worse, when we lost, we got Chuck Schumer as Majority Leader, you know “Six Ways to Sunday”.

Mitch McConnell announced his intentions to step down from leadership in February AND the Pubbies have new members of the Senate with the new Majority. They have had plenty of time to strategize. We don’t want any boneless chickens.

mitchBoneless Chicken

The Association of Mature American Citizens has a couple of boneless chickens for us: John Thune and John Cornyn:

Three names have emerged as the most likely candidates for the post – John Thune of South Dakota, John Cornyn of Texas, and Rick Scott of Florida. While Thune and Cornyn entered the race almost immediately following McConnell’s retirement announcement in February, Scott entered the arena in late May, sending a lightning rod into what was otherwise seen as an unexciting contest.

Thune, a fourth-term senator and the current Senate Republican Whip, enjoys close relationships with a number of old-guard Republicans, and has called the leadership race a chance for a “reset.” Cornyn, meanwhile, is an expert political operator as the fourth-longest tenured Republican. He has also developed a reputation as a prolific fundraiser – something which could go far with his Senate colleagues.

John Thune “enjoys close relationships with a number of old-guard Republicans. Yes. Mitch McConnell gets gas and Thune farts. Do you remember this scene? Both John Barrasso and Thune are right there with McConnell, like something from Shakespeare.

We say no. We like Rick Scott. Again from AMAC:

For much of the race, Scott – who just cruised to a 13-point re-election victory – has been considered a slight favorite due in large part to his ties to Trump. “Scott,” ABC News recently reported, “is a longtime friend of Trump’s and has positioned himself as a strong ally. Scott traveled to New York to support Trump during Trump’s hush money trial. Trump could endorse Scott in the contest, potentially winning more votes for the Florida senator or giving him leverage to influence the race.”

Thus far, Scott has received support from a handful of key conservative leaders, including former presidential candidate and top Trump surrogate Vivek Ramaswamy.

“Rick Scott is *BY FAR* the best choice among those running for Senate Republican Leader,” Ramaswamy wrote on X. “He also possesses a very rare quality in DC: caring about what voters actually want. I endorse him.”

Though most other Republican senators have stopped short of issuing a formal endorsement, Scott has received words of encouragement from several of his colleagues. Mike Lee (R-UT) referred to Scott’s entry into the race as a “gamechanger,” praising his “positive, aspirational agenda” that represents the party’s legislative goals.

We like Rick Scott a lot. He’s not a boneless chicken and he has a Chromium spine.

One more suggestion though. Marsha Blackburn also won reelection to the Senate. She won by about 70 points. She is very strong with the Trump agenda and she asked an important question of Ketanji Brown Jackson.

More importantly, Marsha brought up CRT to Miss Brown-Jackson:

Again, not a boneless chicken and she has a spine of Chromium. I would be happy with Rick Scott, but give Marsha Blackburn a good look for Senate Majority Leader. Buh-bye Mitch.

  • Scott says:

Agreed that the first two SHOULD be non-starters. I’m also not a fan of Scott, because both as Florida governor, and in the senate, he has supported the erosion of our 2nd Amendment rights, and the last thing we need is another “leader” that happily shits on our Constitutionally protected rights. At last when it comes to firearms, he is a boneless chicken..

I’ll have to look closer at Blackburn.

Let’s ask the Democrats! After all, who else knows so much about treachery, backstabbing, sabotage and betrayal than the party of Half witted demons?

  • John Shepherd says:

Whoever it is, he/she will get treated the same way among the posterariate because the Republicans don’t have the 60 votes to invoke cloture.

Anyone want to bet we see demands to eliminate the filibuster by those who supported it the last four years?

  • Citizen Tom says:

Blackburn would be okay, but she has not asked for the job. So, she probably could not get enough votes. The guys in the Senate don’t necessarily have the same priorities that we have.

Probably a good idea to write your senators and ask them to support Scott.
