2016 has been a year that rocked America to its core. Racial unrest, police being shot, campuses overrun with snowflakes. Then it ended with a stormy Presidential election.

So how about some good news for a change? Some sweet news about a young married couple announcing that they’re expecting their second child together. Stuff that normally makes you go awwww.

Announcing their good news.

But hold on, the mom-to-be is Bristol Palin.

Yes, it’s Bristol Palin. And haters gonna hate.

Umm, Bristol is married. Who’s the idiot now?

Wouldn’t it be logical to assume it’s Dakota Meyer, her husband? Duh.

And then there’s the snark from Olivia Nuzzi of the Daily Beast.

Who are these people — the townsfolk from The Scarlet Letter? Seriously, have these liberals who scoff at abstinence suddenly become prudes? And who appointed them the arbiters of proper family size?

Where were they just a few days ago, when it was announced that Mick Jagger became a father for the eighth time? At the age of 73, and with his 30-year-old girlfriend? That’s right, girlfriend. Not wife.

But that’s okay. When you’ve got the moves (and stardom) like Jagger, then it’s different, of course.

But if you’re a Palin, you can expect cruel mockery, simply for your family name. See how that works?

We extend our congratulations to Bristol and Dakota Meyer.

She is a Baby Boomer who never became a hippie, an active Republican who first registered as a Democrat (okay, it was to help a sorority sister's father in his run for sheriff), and a devout Lutheran who practices yoga. Growing up in small-town Indiana, now living in the Kansas City metro, Kim is a conservative Midwestern gal whose heart is also in the Seattle area, where her eldest daughter, son-in-law, and grandson live. Kim is a working speech pathologist who left school system employment behind to subcontract to an agency, and has never looked back. She describes her conservatism as falling in the mold of Russell Kirk's Ten Conservative Principles. Don't know what they are? Google them!
