There Were Two Winners at the Army-Navy Game: Army and Donald Trump [VIDEOS]

The Army-Navy game didn’t quite go as I would’ve liked. Army beat Navy 21-17, and ended their 14-game losing streak to the Midshipmen.

I hold no grudge against the Army Black Knights. Our son-in-law graduated from the Naval Academy in 2005, so we’re Navy fans by default. And actually, it was good to see West Point finally winning after that long drought.

You know who also was a big winner at the game? President-elect Donald Trump. He was possibly the first President-elect to attend the legendary face-off. The crowd loved him being there, too.

Trump met with the broadcasters in the booth, and his admiration for the players who would soon become officers in our military shone through.

Guess who was MIA from not only today’s game, but from the past four games before that? If you said “Barack Obama,” you’re awarded points.

The last time Obama attended an Army-Navy game was in 2011. That game, in fact, was the only game of the series he ever attended in his two terms in office.

Compare that to his predecessor, George W. Bush, who attended three times. The record holder among presidents was Harry Truman, who attended seven straight games from 1945-1951.

What a contrast between Obama and Trump. Obama didn’t attend an Army-Navy game until 2011, when re-election was staring him in the face. Trump broke the mold by attending as the President-elect, before even being sworn into office.

Whom do you think has a greater heart for our military?

Our son-in-law is still serving in the Navy, and is now a Lt. Commander. I think his new Commander-in-Chief will continue to show the respect that he and his fellow service members, no matter their rank or branch, deserve from their President.

    I wonder.

It might be tempting to say that, with Team Trump, it’s okay to be patriotic once more. Yet, there have always been those who love America and could not be ashamed of doing so. More than a few, though, have felt the brunt of the current administration. They’ve been in a “grin-and-bear-it” mode.

Now, with the inception of “Making America Great Again,” patriotic fervor is being intensified for some and for others it is be re-awakened. Hopefully, this will mean that not every positive statement about the United States of America will be appended with an apologetic.

Kudos and accolades to your son-in-law!
The only bad thing was Trump had to watch it behind bulletproof screens, almost certainly to protect him from the butthurt libs out there. And BTW, Joe Biden attended the Army/Navy game in 2012; he was booed by all and sundry!

Yeah, but Air Force kicked both their butts this year and took home the Commander-in-Chief’s trophy again.
Not that it matters or anything. 😉

GWB, Army hasn’t had pilots for a Looooong time ( my dear departed dad was Army/Air Force).
But Army has killed it’s share of tanks. 😉
    Your turn.

LOL! How about the NFL part?
(And I know some Army helicopter drivers that would be shocked at your denial of tank-killer pilots. 😉 )

I love the academy rivalries. We always had to protect our aircraft displays from the Navy guys painting the nose cones pink. The Navy had to put extra guards around their goat.
