How many Democrat candidates will it take to beat Trump? The number is now 23 and counting. As Toni noted here, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio decided he wanted to join the 2020 Democrat clown car circus. This morning he dropped his campaign video announcement. “There’s plenty of money in this country, it’s just in the wrong hands.”
Where oh where to begin with this?
Let’s start with his socialistic money grab. In order to pay for everything, money has to come from somewhere right? Let’s yank it from THOSE people’s hands because they just have way too much. You see, we deserve stuff and things. But by golly we shouldn’t have to pay for it! Someone else should!
The problem with that is, WE THE PEOPLE are the ones who will be getting taxed into oblivion to pay for de Blasio’s stellar ideas.
For example: his wife established some sort of program (THRIVENYC) to help fix mental health issues about four years ago. Should be working great, right?
“Chirlane McCray’s mental health initiative is on track to spend $1 billion over five years — but city officials can’t provide a detailed breakdown or prove it’s making a positive difference, it was disclosed Wednesday.
The revelations came at a City Council hearing where legislators panned the first lady’s “Thrive” initiative for its slow response time and failure to treat the city’s mentally ill homeless.
“I like the fact that money is going toward mental health, but when they say we’re seeing a benefit in all areas, I take exception to that, because I don’t see it everywhere,” Queens Councilman Robert Holden told The Post. “I’m not sure anybody does.”
Under pressure from Holden and fellow members of the council’s mental health committee, Thrive director Susan Herman admitted that the program — budgeted for a total $850 million between fiscal years 2016 and 2019 — will now cost $1 billion every four years.”
Wow! That’s a lot of money with nothing to show for it! Not only that, but depending upon who provides what, there are at least two different budgets for Thrive at City Hall. No wonder no one knows where $850 million a year is going!
de Blasio wants free Pre-K kindergarten for all! Who pays for it? Not him! Taxes going up in 3, 2, 1…
He has been doing the happy dance for months over his and Gov Cuomo’s $15 an hour largess for the economy. How is that going for New York? Not well at all.
“In a survey conducted by New York City Hospitality Alliance late last year, about 75 percent of the more than 300 respondents operating full-service restaurants reported they’ll reduce employee hours this year because of the new wage increases, while 47 percent said they’ll eliminate jobs.” [Emphasis Added]
So, government mandated wage increases hurt businesses bottom line AND has a negative impact on employee take-home pay. Those unintended consequences from the socialist good idea fairy strikes again.
Climate change is a thing with De Blasio. Except some of his ideas…all of them in fact, will kill the economy. Such as banning steel and glass-fronted sky scrapers from New York and adopting AOC’s building retrofit program.
“Last week, the City Council passed a bill to slap strict greenhouse emissions caps on private buildings exceeding 25,000 square feet by forcing them to retrofit pipes, heating systems, lights and other utilities by 2024 or face big fines.
The Bank of America Tower on 42nd Street, for example, is certified LEED platinum, but developer the Durst Organization calculated that it would still face $2.5 million in fines under the new bill when 2024 rolls around.”
But hey! There’s plenty of money to go around, someone (we the taxpayers) can certainly afford to pay those fines!
He wants to put working people first. Except that the working people (taxpayers) are the ones hardest hit by his policies.
"He needs help, seriously"
"Is that a joke?"
New Yorkers know better than anyone what a disaster Bill de Blasio would be for the country

Evidently it’s not a joke. He’s serious about running. He wants to clean up the country. Great! Start with New York City first.

Lovely isn’t it? Do NYC voters want him to run? 76% say No.
Some of those 76%’ers were outside the GMA studios this morning.

That’s harsh.
Bill de Blasio is running on ‘other people’s money for 2020!’ That’s a feature that is killing NYC’s economy. It’s a feature we don’t need for this United States.

If we’re lucky. . .
THIS WILL BE A
V E R Y
EXPENSIVE CAMPAIGN SEASON FOR THE EVIL (D).
Obviously he won’t make it past the gate, but do not think for a moment that there isn’t a market for this sort of thing. He did win re-election with 65% of the vote. If you think that’s an outlier in a leftwing city, consider the following:
Jackie Biskupski, lesbian mayor of Salt Lake City (!!)
Keith Ellison, now atty-general of Minnesota, who proved he can win statewide as a radical Muslim
Kyrsten Sinema, from Arizona–the state that gave us Barry Goldwater and John McCain, who dresses like a hooker on the floor of the US Senate
Jared Polis, Colorado, first gay governor anywhere
I have become convinced that there is no idea too looney for Americans to embrace in the name of being considered “enlightened”. If Bill de Blasio’s time is not now, it won’t be long before it will be for someone just like him. Be afraid.
