Biden Laments On Missing Out On Xi Time At G20 Summit

It’s become increasingly clear that the Biden administration desires nothing more than to suck up to China.

We have seen repeated failures by the administration to deal with the Chinese Communist Party over the course of the last two years. The tone was set at the very beginning of Biden’s tenure when Antony Blinken held a summit with the Chinese in Alaska, where the Chinese simply told the Secretary of State how it was going to be, and Blinken rolled over and played dead. Then the Biden administration didn’t press for answers on COVID-19. They didn’t stand up for the rights of people in Hong Kong. The administration let a Chinese spy balloon float all the way from Montana to the East Coast before popping the damn thing. Then the administration straight up lied about the Chinese having spy apparatus in Cuba – before they got caught and had to admit it. Blinken attempted this summer to kiss Xi’s ass. Joe Biden insists that China is not “in conflict” with us. And the only time that Joe Biden has stood up to China is when he vowed to defend Taiwan – which immediately got walked back by his own administration.

The only conclusion that can be drawn, after over two years of watching this behavior, is that the Biden administration is more than willing to bend over and take it when it comes to China. The question “why?” is a broad one with multiple answers, but it is fair to say that the left adores how China wields its centralized power over the lives of its citizens, and wishes they could do the same here. It’s also fair to say that Joe Biden had a vested interest in keeping cozy relations with China while Hunter was raking in the cash – and using Joe’s influence to do it.

Which makes Joe’s “disappointment” on missing out on seeing Xi Jinping even more weird and creepy.

U.S. President Joe Biden said on Sunday that he was disappointed that Chinese President Xi Jinping was not attending the summit of G20 leaders in India, but added that he was going to “get to see him.”

“I am disappointed … but I am going to get to see him,” Biden told reporters in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, without elaborating.

Biden will visit India from Sept. 7-10 for a summit of the Group of 20 nations, followed by a trip to Vietnam as his administration seeks to strengthen U.S. relations in Asia.

Apparently this is the first time that Xi will be skipping the G20, though he will be sending a delegation in his place. Why skip it? There could be multiple reasons, according to Bloomburg.

It could be due to diplomatic sparring with India that Xi is snubbing the Group of 20 meeting in India. Or he wants to bolster the newly expanded BRICS forum. Maybe he wants to stay home to handle China’s economic troubles, with one of the nation’s largest property developers on the brink of default.

Whatever the reason, his absence would mark a major shift in how Xi operates. The Chinese leader has attended every G-20 leaders’ summit since taking power in 2012, and he’s also sought to burnish his image as a peacemaker since emerging from three years of Covid isolation at last year’s meeting in Bali, Indonesia. Back then, Xi stressed the importance of dialogue, telling US President Joe Biden it was a statesman’s responsibility to “get along with other countries.”

Now Xi seems to be taking a different approach, dodging an event where he’d likely face thorny questions over China’s economic trajectory, Beijing’s military aggression toward Taiwan and his support for Russia after its invasion of Ukraine. That move also reinforces investor concerns that China is becoming increasingly unpredictable, with US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo last week saying businesses in China told her the abrupt policy swings had made the nation nearly “uninvestible.”

The Chinese leader’s no-show at the G-20 would be made more flagrant by his recent trip to South Africa for a BRICS summit that also included India. Undercutting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s big moment so soon afterward would lay bare the limits of that bloc’s ability to speak with a unified voice, or serve as a credible alternative to US-led groupings.

Xi is now in an “emperor mindset” and expects dignitaries to come to him, according to Alfred Wu, associate professor at the National University of Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Leaders from Germany and France, along with four senior Biden administration lieutenants, have all visited Beijing since China lifted Covid controls.

“Xi enjoys a very high status when he receives foreign guests at home,” Wu added. “He also received special treatment at the BRICS summit. But he’s unlikely to get that G-20.”

The Chinese economy is indeed on the brink of some disaster, but just how much is the real question. Will an economic crunch speed up or slow down their obvious designs on Taiwan? Who knows. Xi might have good reasons for hiding from the G20, but Biden’s reaction sounds like a bit much.

We get it, Joe. You are really really really into Xi. But it seems Xi isn’t all that broken up about not seeing you. And that “I am going to get to see him” line? Uh, when is THAT happening, Joe? Inside your head? In your dreams? And will that be before or after you get to East Palestine, Ohio? You know, the place that you were planning on going to this week (so you say), but then realized that you were oh so busy with trips abroad.

The train derailment disaster happened in February. How many times has Joe spent weekends on the beach in Delaware this summer, hmmmm? What a joke. The old man got called out, and decided to just create a lie out of whole cloth in order to cover his saggy ass. I can’t wait for Peter Doocy to ask Karine Jean-Pierre about this one.

Meanwhile, Biden will be pining away for that special time when he can see Xi once more. Honest question – the next time that Biden sees Xi, what are the odds that he actually remembers his name?
