Biden Impeachment Inquiry Opens, Let The Games Begin

The sauce for the goose is also the sauce for the gander, and while Democrats were actively looking for ways to impeach Donald Trump on day one, they are clutching their pearls and carefully editing responses in order to make the impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden look like a nothingburger.

Except it is very much a somethingburger. What that something is could range from simple name-dropping corruption (as Gavin Newsom said, everyone does it!) to outright bribery by foriegn nationals (as was alleged by former Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin). The bottom line is that the Biden family, and Joe’s role within the international shakedown and money laundering scheme, needs to be investigated. One of the opening witnesses today was law professor Jonathan Turley, whose remarks are being not-so-stealthily edited for Twitter/X as Democrats try to claim that there is no “there” there.

Democrats are focusing disingenuously on the first part of Turley’s comments, and leaving out the second part.

Jonathan Turley, a go-to witness for conservatives in Congress, at one point told lawmakers some of the details they’d gathered “really do gravitate in favor of the president.”

“I do not believe that the current evidence would support articles of impeachment that is something that an inquiry has to establish,” he said. “But I also believe that the House has passed the threshold for an impeachment inquiry into the conduct of President Biden.”

Speaking with The Hill after the hearing, Turley said, “My concern is only to get it right.”

“I said very clearly that this meets a threshold for an inquiry, which is the question of the hearing. So I think they have ample reason to go forward. And that was the point. This is the beginning of an inquiry. There’s no reason why we should be talking about actual articles of impeachment until this investigation moves forward,” he added.

Fine. We can all agree that this is an inquiry, an opportunity to gather evidence and see where it leads. However, that also means that Democrats need to ask questions of Joe Biden and Hunter Biden, and not just claim that this is all happening because Joe is an enabling father who was desperate to keep his poor little middle-aged baby boy off drugs by letting him sell the “illusion of access” in order to finance his drug abuse and use of prostitutes.

Also, Team Joe and Team Hunter need to get their stories straight. Was that wire transfer, which used Joe’s Wilmington home as the beneficiary address, a loan to Hunter, or a paycheck to Hunter? Leave aside the fact for a minute that Hunter was not living at that home by his own admission (his memoir) during that period of time. Team Hunter is calling it a loan. Team Joe said it was a paycheck. IT CAN’T BE BOTH.

That kind of double-talk dishonesty is what got us here in the first place, and Representative Nancy Mace spoke for a whole lot of Americans in her opening statement today. These five-plus minutes are worth your time.

Mace is correct, the whole “my uncle’s brother” (which I desperately want to follow with “nephew’s cousin’s former roommate“) shtick in order to keep “the Big Guy’s” identity out of the public eye, which we know Hunter was paranoid about per the testimony of Tony Bobulinski, stinks to high heaven.

And it doesn’t matter how much Democrats want to claim that Joe just loves his crackhead dickhead son, when something stinks like this, there should be an investigation. As much as they are trying to twist what Jonathan Turley said, he has been clear that “the threshold for an inquiry has been met.” Obviously, the Republicans want to impeach, and the Democrats don’t. There is obviously no way that Biden would be convicted in the Senate at this moment. But that doesn’t mean that it’s okay that Joe was weighed, measured, and sold out in portions of access by Hunter, and likely benefited materially from the sale of that access. There’s a whole lot of smoke – let’s see if the inquiry can find the fire.

“I do not believe that the current evidence would support articles of impeachment,” said Jonathan Turley. That sentence is the only one getting airtime (along with the other three “witnesses” who basically said the same thing).

People are flooding across the border, the republican “clown car” is racing to a government shutdown, the 280 pound Malignant Tumor openly is openly calling for General Milley’s execution, Gaetz/Taylor-Green/Boebert/et. al. look like the ones in charge of the House, and you would need microscope to find McCarthy’s testicles and the priority is Hunter Biden’s laptop. Nice job.

I heard a radio interview with a republican congressperson from Oregon (Lori Chavez-DeRemer) and another republican congressman on the PBS Newshour (let’s not forget what Megyn Kelley said, “If you want the facts, listen to NPR) whose name I didn’t catch and both said the exact same thing, “The republicans are in chaos and a small radical faction is calling the shots and it’s not good for America.”

The only platform the republican party has is “the 2020 election was stolen!” Fox paid $750,000,000 for spreading that lie.

    You’re toast.

“Let the games begin” is appropriate since this is just DC political theater. McCarthy knows that he will not have the votes to approve any articles of impeachment. RINOs and Squishes will vote with the Dems.
