AOC has no qualms about Hamas terrorists staying in power in Gaza. It’s Israel who is committing the war crimes.
She began, “I think one of the things that’s important to recognize about this situation is the asymmetry of what is going on as well as the collective punishment of what is happening to the Palestinian people at this moment. Hamas has absolutely engaged in horrific attacks. Every single day there are more details that are released about what occurred on October 7th that shocks the human consciousness and shocks our conscience, our collective conscience.”
“However we do know as well that war crimes do not constitute and are not an appropriate response for other war crimes,” Ocasio-Cortez explained.
Read that again. Hamas was kind of bad, but Israel defending themselves and going after those who slaughtered and beheaded babies is much much worse. As I’ve noted before in the last couple of weeks, Israel is – according to our political and media betters– not allowed to defend themselves or enact consequences after being attacked. If they do, THEY are committing war crimes.
As Deanna wrote yesterday, AOC’s assertions are yet another consequence of the West’s failure to call out Nazism and evil.
Anti-semitism has reared its ugly head loudly and proudly in the last two weeks. And here we have a member of the Squad excusing their behavior and claiming it is Israel who has committed the war crimes. Hamas, who slaughtered men, women, and children? They get a pass because those poor citizens of Gaza deserve all our sympathy. Just as the Secretary General of the U.N.
“Yesterday I went to the Rafah border crossing. There I saw a paradox — a humanitarian catastrophe playing out in real time,” Guterres said at a Cairo summit advocating for an end of the war. “Full trucks on one side, empty stomachs on the other.”
“Those trucks need to move as quickly as possible in a massive, sustained and safe way from Egypt into Gaza,” he said.
According to him, $100 million in aid from the United States won’t be enough to help. Furthermore, as you read the article, or any current reports, there is ZERO mention of the continual shelling of Israel by Hamas weaponry. Instead it is, how dare Israel launch rockets against Hamas??!!

Which is, again, where AOC comes in with her asinine assertions regarding Israel.
Ocasio-Cortez said, “I think in the immediate sense, we have to have a pause in what is going on.”
Ocasio-Cortez believes that while the Hamas attacks against Israel were “horrific,” the Jewish state’s counterattacks “are not an appropriate response.”
“What we are seeing unfold in Gaza is an indiscriminate bombing campaign,” she said. “It occurs to me, and I think a question we must all ask ourselves, is what price of innocent life is acceptable in terms of targeting Hamas?”
Oh yes Sandy. WHAT PRICE for innocent lives that Hamas took? A mother and child were tied together with metal wire and burned alive…by HAMAS. Children were killed and beheaded. Men and women were horrifically slaughtered and burned. Forensic authorities from all over the world are trying to identify the bodies with every tool at their disposal.
“Yesterday, I opened evidence from a house in a southern kibbutz, and there was a popular recipe book covered in blood. … I have this same book, and it makes you take a moment and think, it could have been my kitchen, my children, my parents, me. You can’t avoid it,” she said.
Additionally, Israel’s small population gives rise to the fact that no one is far removed from the wake of the massacre. “My sister has a close friend of hers who is still missing,” said Bublil, as she stood beside a blood-stained mattress from a baby’s crib. The DNA from the mattress will be used to try and identify a brutally disfigured and unaccounted-for infant.
“I got the message today from my neighbor,” Bublil continued. “She asked if I could help because her good friend’s husband, father, two nephews, and father-in-law’s wife were all murdered too and have yet to be identified.”
Please tell me, the price for all these innocent lives? AOC believes that Hamas terrorists lives are worth more than the children of Israel that Hamas killed. My husband and I spoke with a gentleman who owns a flag shop. He is Israeli. His response when we asked about him and his family in Israel?
“I have family who is ok. I have family who perished. I have friends who have perished.”
Hearing him calmly and quietly say that was a gut punch. But AOC doesn’t care about the impact on Israelis all over the world. Nope, not one bit. Instead, she’ll accuse Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu of war crimes.

Yes, she said that with a straight face, all the while ignoring the evidence that Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar are virulently antisemitic.
She’ll also readily ignore the fact that Hamas has a long history of embedding their military assets within schools, hospitals, churches, and office buildings, hello Associated Press!
AOC is now fully on record for supporting terrorism and giving a complete pass to the atrocities that Hamas inflicted upon the Israeli people.

A man in his underpants & his two children, also in underpants run screaming. Hamas enter, they throw a grenade & kill the father. The take the 2 kids – covered with their father's blood – into a room.
"Daddy's dead," sreams one. "It's not a prank. He's really dead."
The horror inflicted by Hamas and more details at the Twitter/X link show that it is indeed Hamas who committed the war crimes. Yet that is who the clownish loon AOC is making excuses for.

And, actually, AOC is wrong once again.
See, the Geneva Conventions explicitly unbind you from their constraints if you’re fighting against someone who violates their strictures. If the enemy conducts warfare without being in a recognizable uniform or conducts attacks directly against civilians, then you can bomb the s*** out of their cities (even if there’s not war manufacturing going on) and commit reprisals against entire towns and villages (especially if there’s a connection to the illegal attacks carried out against you) and refuse quarter (especially if they’ve abused surrender or parley protocols). In extremis, you’re only obliged to follow the Geneva Protocols when engaged against other Geneva Protocol signatories, but most abide by them against anyone. This is an example of an explicit exception to the rules.
Why do Progressives love to leave that stuff out?
Because their utopia is achieved by defying and overcoming reality – both nature and human nature – not by conforming to it. The whole concept is that “progress” moves us toward overcoming all limitations and consequences, and all humans can be molded into perfect models of “humanity” and nature itself becomes a park, where the lion lies down with the lamb. (Of course, the Progressives ignore that in this world the lion lies down to eat the lamb.)
Oh, also, in war, there is no sin of “collective guilt.” That’s a BS lie. Because war is between communities and peoples and nations, it is, by definition, “collective” in its application of destruction. If you don’t want to have devastation visited upon your village, then you had best either surrender quickly, or send to the king to not start the war in the first place.

Well, FU Guterres. The real human catastrophe we watched play out in real time was the UN shielding of terrorists over the last 40 years, so that >1,000 civilians could be slaughtered or captured by Hamas.

Facts not in evidence. And all of them, IMO. The “innocent civilians” of Gaza support Hamas overwhelmingly. Also, in a war between peoples EVERYTHING is “collective.” If you don’t want to be bombed and held responsible, then get out while flying a white flag. And expect to be sent somewhere that you can’t turn out to be a threat later. But when you allowed this level of atrocity, you became part of the problem.

Which are not just “war crimes” but also specifically exempt any enemy from constraints on targeting those locations! If you put a military asset there, it becomes a legitimate military target, REGARDLESS of how many civilians and “innocents” with which you surround it.

More properly, it is the Palestinians who committed the war crimes. Again, when you go to war, you go to war with the people on the other side. The conceit that only armies go to war against armies is in defiance of millennia of reality and the basic nature of war.

I read in one report that those ‘innocent’ civilian citizens came into Israel after the terrorists had finished killing Jews and looted everything they could including farm animals, quickly taking their loot back to Gaza. They must have been following close behind the terrorist strike force otherwise the IDF would have caught up with them as they [the IDF] organised their military response and began hunting the terrorists.
