Self-proclaimed “fellow traveler” to the anarchist tradition and critic of U.S. foreign policy, Noam Chomsky has come to my alma mater and my “intellectual” friends in the desert are all Chris-Matthews-tingly-bits wishing that they were born 20 years later so that they could be in his orbit.
Chomsky will serve in the capacity of a linguistics professor at the U of A. Although his position on U.S. foreign policy and politics may be quite radical, Chomsky recently came out as a critic of the AntiFa movement days ago claiming them “often wrong in principle” and “generally destructive”.
“When confrontation shifts to the arena of violence, it’s the toughest and most brutal who win – and we know who that is. That’s quite apart from the opportunity costs – the loss of the opportunity for education, organizing, and serious and constructive activism.”-Noam Chomsky Interview/Washington Examiner
He also said this:
“It’s a major gift to the Right, including the militant Right, who are exuberant.”-Noam Chomsky
For most of us, this is the first time former MIT professor, Chomsky made sense. I am by no means a fan of his politics and agenda. But I venture to think, if AntiFa is a “gift” to the Alt-Right, empowering them and their agenda, who then is a “gift” to the AntiFa movement?
Both the Alt-Right and AntiFa are fringe movements who make up a small percentage of the American population. The small percentages of these fringes are not even large enough to make or break a Presidential election in states like Pennsylvania or even Michigan yet the powers-that-be in our world of written and broadcast journalism, our Hollywood celebrities and our heroes of the educational systems (private and public) have made this about Trump. He did not respond the way they would have liked. He condemned both sides for the violence in Charlottesville. He said what most rational Americans were thinking that day and the days following: whether you’re an Alt-Right KKK/pro-Nazi idiot or if you’re donned in all black coming at people with baseball bats and comparing yourself to those who stormed the beaches of Normandy (right), you’re wrong!
Yet, the media refuses to acknowledge this. They show this:

And were silent when one of their own was attacked:

And this:
And that is just the news media. Let’s talk Hollywood and all of their talk about “hypothetically” assassinating the president. Johnny Depp, Kathy Griffin, Madonna, anyone? Because none of that stuff triggers violence from the left either, right? Nope. Not much, they say.
"People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love…"
— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) August 13, 2017
And, there it is. The pièce de résistance. Thanks, Obama. So happy you sounded off from behind your keyboard on Twitter! EDUCATION. When students in grades as young as elementary schools are silenced by their teachers during mock presidential elections should their opinions differ from the popular opinion (it has happened to my own son), when “diversity” is thrown around and demanded to the point of children who did not even recognize their differences from one another begin to realize their differences and walk on eggshells because of it, we’ve got problems. When pages of history books are ripped out, statues come down and educators do not discuss why people of all ethnic and religious backgrounds came to America and why the politics, governments and belief systems in their home countries forced them out to sea in the hopes of seeing Lady Liberty in New York Harbor, we are raising ignorant fools at best. This is why they are dressing up in all black in their mother’s basements, heading to the college campus du jour after a round of video games and screaming words like “racist”, “bigot” and “fascist” and shutting people up with violence all while people compare them to the greatest generation that ever lived!
So, yeah, according to Chomsky, all the Alt-Right, Skinhead Nazi inbred simpletons can thank AntiFa for fueling their fire. But AntiFa “warriors” can be sure to thank big-money media, education systems and a few token imbeciles with lots of money who live in a certain fantasy world on the west coast for their idiocy. Sadly, I don’t assume any of these large organizations will take responsibility for this any time soon.
Nicely done, Lisa. And, of course, none of them talk about the bigger scope – that everything said about the “alt-right” and the “ctl-left” is also true in the bigger picture of the left and the semi-right populist movement. All of the screaming and hate and SJWing (that you point out) enabled the populist movement that brought Trump. And, it is enabling the white supremacist jerks – because when you create a politics of identity, ALL identities are going to want to get in on the action.
